25:53 I had severe Bronchitis all my life and I have tried literally everything in the world to resolve it. I was an atheist, rebel teenager.. But when I was in college, I heard some folks chanting Vishnu Sahasranamam and Hanuman Chalisa and it made me feel a sense of calm. So I continued to listen, thinking about it as sound therapy instead of “religion”. Slowly, I picked up the words and was able to chant on my own. Within a span of 6 months, my lung capacity improved, I felt so much more positive and refreshed. I still chant both Shlokas everyday and can see that difference. Some things are tough to explain till you experience it, I guess

Mantra is a sanskrit word. There is no alternative to mantra in Tamil or any language. Only in tamilnadu it is political issue. Any where in India there is no problem.

But it was a human made sound system with collaboration of many languages and a sound system. Those sound system is the mantra part. 1) I do not undermine any language - be it Tamil / Sanskrit (which shares the Devanagiri script as in Hindi) / English. Both Tamil & Sanskrit are our treasures - English - whether we like it or not it has become our derieved language. 2) You cannot rate one language over the other - this leads to arguments & hatredness. Respect for each other's language is humanism. 3) Every language has its own merits & needs some enhancements - for eg, (3a) Sanskrit & Hindi do not have equivalent letters for sound like 'Zha' - the beauty of Tamil lies here (3b) Tamil as a lang - do not have equivalent letters for sounds like 'Sha', 'ha' - the beauty of Sanskrit lies here (3c) Communication is possible in English with just 26 letters - the beauty of English lies here (whereas) (3d) the same communication is possible in chinese mandarin with more than 1000 letters (some say mandarin has 1400 characters or more) !!! 4) The topic in this podcast is which language is ancient (Tamil / Sanskrit)? My observations (as a person who knows limited sanskrit & proficient in Tamil) (4a) the aspect of conversation shifted from being which is "ancient" ... to which is "great" and then the tone shifted to "Keep arguing to win at any cost" by the youngsters - which is not welcome. (4b) Tamil has ancient Grammer text & Literature - this is Tamil's greatness. (4c) Sanskrit lays more emphasis on sounds and pronounciations. That is why Vedas were more recited than written. If that is the case how can the interviewers expect grammer (using sounds ? for a language like Sanskrit) No one can say whether Tamil / Sanskrit is ancient. One of the oldest DOCUMENTED literature is Valmiki's Ramayana - Rama knew both Tamil & Sanskrit. Hanuman & Angad should have known Tamil as they were ambassador's when they went to Ravana's court. Sanskrit is a very powerful sound system.
It wasn't spoke by any humans at any given time within this material world.
But it was a human made sound system with collaboration of many languages and a sound system.
Those sound system is the mantra part.

But, that wasn't the oldest language.

Many countries like Germany give much importance to Sanskrit to use in science and technology due to power of the language. Not sure why many Tamilians oppose Sanskrit instead of feeling proud as an Indian. Of course, Tamil is equally important.

1) I do not undermine any language - be it Tamil / Sanskrit (which shares the Devanagiri script as in Hindi) / English.
Both Tamil & Sanskrit are our treasures - English - whether we like it or not it has become our derieved language.
2) You cannot rate one language over the other - this leads to arguments & hatredness. Respect for each other's language is humanism.
3) Every language has its own merits & needs some enhancements - for eg,
(3a) Sanskrit & Hindi do not have equivalent letters for sound like 'Zha' - the beauty of Tamil lies here
(3b) Tamil as a lang - do not have equivalent letters for sounds like 'Sha', 'ha' - the beauty of Sanskrit lies here
(3c) Communication is possible in English with just 26 letters - the beauty of English lies here
(whereas)
(3d) the same communication is possible in chinese mandarin with more than 1000 letters (some say mandarin has 1400 characters or more) !!!
4) The topic in this podcast is which language is ancient (Tamil / Sanskrit)?
My observations (as a person who knows limited sanskrit & proficient in Tamil)
(4a) the aspect of conversation shifted from being which is "ancient" ... to which is "great" and then the tone shifted to "Keep arguing to win at any cost" by the youngsters - which is not welcome.
(4b) Tamil has ancient Grammer text & Literature - this is Tamil's greatness.
(4c) Sanskrit lays more emphasis on sounds and pronounciations. That is why Vedas were more recited than written.
We are all aware that before language existed communication was possible with sounds & actions only.
The evolution of any lanaguage is sounds & actions, Letters, words, sentences, Grammer, literature ...
If that is the case how can the interviewers expect grammer (using sounds ? for a language like Sanskrit)
No one can say whether Tamil / Sanskrit is ancient. One of the oldest DOCUMENTED literature is Valmiki's Ramayana - Rama knew both Tamil & Sanskrit.
Hanuman & Angad should have known Tamil as they were ambassador's when they went to Ravana's court. So no one can say which is older ?
We have to take pride that both Tamil & Sanskrit are ancient ones and both are our Indian languages...
