I cannot believe after almost 20 whole years of frequently going to disney world and feeling unusually unnerved by the animatronics in the water I'm now finally finding out it was not just me and this actually has a name and there is a video about it. This is so satisfying but also so creepy at the same time.
The name was made up by some dude on Reddit, you'll never find any significant other who understands your incredibly fringe and irrational fear, and most of these are unsettling simply due to the exposure, contrast, framing, and focusing of the image. If an image/video is unfocused and slightly blurry with flat contrast and bad exposure, it comes across as unsettling. Now if you are legit scared of under water robots I'm surprised you made it this far. Just remember guns may make you feel powerful, but they are powerless underwater. Much like you.
Alieninport907 i totally understand this fear? i’ve had it for nearly as long as i’ve known animatronics can work in water, and it’s not just these images that creep me out. even visiting places such as disney world/land that have water animatronics, which are perfectly happy, wholesome places, i still get incredibly anxious around water animatronics and animatronics in general. hell, even the giant lego serpent that’s hanging out in a body of water at the disney shopping sector makes my skin crawl. i’m uncertain if its the uncanny valley or if i’m just weird, but phobias are literally meant to be irrational. thats what makes it a phobia. i’m just glad to know i’m not alone in having this fear.
The thing is, submechanophobia is not the fear of animatronics underwater. It’s the fear of man made objects partially or fully underwater. If you’re just scared of animatronics underwater I don’t think you really have submechanophobia because that’s just not what it really is. If you can look at a picture of a buoy or a sunken plane and be uncomfortable then fair play, but if it’s just these absurd animatronic pictures then that’s just not right. Anyone would be creeped out by these.
Яee Яee theres a difference between “being creeped out” and having an actual phobia. the fear of underwater animatronics is a part of the submechnaphobia sphere, because its a ‘’manmade object underwater”. statues, large objects, AND animatronics all make me incredibly anxious. i know i cannot go scuba diving because i would have a panic attack if i saw a sunken ship or something similar. i only zeroed in on animatronics because thats what this video is about. gatekeeping a phobia because ‘everyone would be creeped out by these photos’ isn’t okay.
Fun fact: on the original Jaws ride at Universal Park in Orlando, one passenger on the ride fell into the water next to the animatronic shark, and claims he saw the shark coming towards him. He was fine, but sued Universal. As it turns out, someone has ended up in the water with one of these things.
Quartz's Arts someone wrote a creepypasta about the shark biting someone based off of the guy that fell in, but yeah there were real shark teeth on the animatronic sharks
Fun fact So the whale animatronic actually malfunctioned (I think) and they had to take it out but when they did it it broke into 5 pieces and it still rests at the bottom today but coverd with mud and other gunk Edit: I was wrong when the park closed it had to be removed but it broke into 4 not 5 pieces so oops my bad
the the bunyip one (the weird looking dragon with giant frills on their head) also probably sunken into the lake, imagine swimming in that lake and you feel something thats feels like metal and look down and see a bunyip
@@anarchyalien2279 yeah somebody fell in then the robotic shark came after him 😂 tbh if that happened to me this will happen Me: *falls in and sees the shark coming towards me* Mom: are you okay? Me: *Soul has left the Chat* My brother: 😎🍿
This is one of the many copies of this animatronic, I'm not sure which one this is but this animatronic is a bunyip ( I think that what they are called ) btw they have names, this one is either Bertha or Bert.
TBH the noise they make is worse, look them up, there tons of videos. Side note: these animatronics are still up today, you can find them in places like Murray bridge
It will be worse if you realize there is an original design for this monster, the original one look like literal real meat and teeth. So they decide to change it into a more "kid friendly" version.
I really find these creepily interesting, y'know? I personally don't have this fear but like, it's just interesting to know that at the bottom of some body of water theres a rotting metal machine which once entertained, is now completely forgotten and alone.
00:30 imagine So you have fallen out of the book you are swimming for safety. And then this giant thing pops up literally inches away from your head. Your foot is a smell it closes your foot is crushed it brings you down and you drown.
This really is just fascinating to me because I have a deep love and respect for Audio Animatronics and the idea of ones being able to be submerged in water is just fascinating. I love how the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea animatronic of the kraken looks and it's rich history is just amazing. While I can understand the fear people might have this is just to me an amazing piece of human technology. It's really disheartening to see that some of these animatronics have been lost to time and not well preserved. The history of The Enchanted Tiki Room's first audio animatronic to this is amazing!
Same, they're so cool and I'd love to learn more about them. I also have a morbid fascination with old and abandoned pieces of human technology and animatronics are the pinnical of that.
0:44 man this dude be missing out on all the Chinese new years Edit: For those unaware: This is the billabong bunyip at Aussie's Big Banana park. The first time I saw him he reminded me of a Chinese dragon, and he kinda looked like he was an abandoned submerged animatronic left to rot on a beach. He cool doe.
Imagine swimming in really dark water and feeling something rub against your leg, you turn on your flashlight and see this gigantic Dino demon thing with you 😳
It's kinda sad honestly, the thing just sits there rotting completely abandoned in a pitch black cave. I know it's just an object but it still is depressing to think about.
Spoiled people's logic: being scared = having a phobia being worried = having anxiety being sad = having depression Basically: Anything unpleasant = mental disorder
This is true, water is the most widely used and cheapest solvent on earth. it’s the backbone of some of the most destructive and frequent natural disasters on the entire planet.

It was supposed to be something to make the animatronic "unique"(?) And it has something to do with his personality, basically they created an entire personality for a wet robot, he's supposed to be super dumb but nice XD (it makes me super uncomfy tho- like man those eyes 🤠🔫)

That actually happened once! Back in the 90’s, there was an incident at Universal in which a man fell out of the boat in the middle of the JAWS ride. According this his account, he turned and claimed that the Jaws robot was heading towards him. That’s enough to make anyone lose their shit.
I fear some of this, but I just fear any strange thing in deep water.. I have a fear of deep water, and mix it with strange stuff like THIS.. instance fear and anxiety..
@@furry3610 Yeah, I was thinking that.. Though my Submechnophobia has claimed down a bit, I still get scared by some man made things in deep water sometimes.. :0|
Seeing the animatronics new and working is fine but when they’re rotting away and still moving is the shit I came here for! I want to see more stuff like this in the Fallout series
The main thing which gave me this fear was a childrens park water ride, you were simply in a boat going down a river (with brown water WHICH you can’t see into) and near the end, an animatronic green crocodile would be sitting in the corner of the river and whilst you’re passing it, it would blow its nostrils and water would splash out at you. I didn’t genuinely scream, I went on it three times, first I had a shrivel but no reaction, second time I hid in the boat and third time (only happened a year ago) give me SUPER BAD chills.

That’s sad.
Atleast he survived.
Oof, I would of been dead
Wait wasnt there an actual death at that jaws ride the one where the shark malfunctioned and the guy died?
Quartz's Arts someone wrote a creepypasta about the shark biting someone based off of the guy that fell in, but yeah there were real shark teeth on the animatronic sharks
Imagine getting your foot caught in a gear at the bottom, nobody would hear you scream...
That makes my think of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland "And no one would hear you SCREAM MUHUHAHA!!!"

Uhhh god no
Fun fact
So the whale animatronic actually malfunctioned (I think) and they had to take it out but when they did it it broke into 5 pieces and it still rests at the bottom today but coverd with mud and other gunk
Edit: I was wrong when the park closed it had to be removed but it broke into 4 not 5 pieces so oops my bad
the the bunyip one (the weird looking dragon with giant frills on their head) also probably sunken into the lake, imagine swimming in that lake and you feel something thats feels like metal and look down and see a bunyip

They're soulless machines

The main thing which gave me this fear was a childrens park water ride, you were simply in a boat going down a river (with brown water WHICH you can’t see into) and near the end, an animatronic green crocodile would be sitting in the corner of the river and whilst you’re passing it, it would blow its nostrils and water would splash out at you. I didn’t genuinely scream, I went on it three times, first I had a shrivel but no reaction, second time I hid in the boat and third time (only happened a year ago) give me SUPER BAD chills.
