Nope, never heard of this brand. I LOVE that there are whiskies out there that we have yet to discover. Sure, everyone else knows about them BUT...they're new to our consciousness! Sounds like this is perhaps an intro bottle for newbies. Nicely done. Cheers to ya!
I just picked up a bottle of Tyrconnell yesterday and I was looking for reviews on it. I am interested in tasting whiskies from "across the pond". I have Jack to the south and Jim to the north and it's "shining" throughout Tennessee. Thank you for the review. Uh, cheers!
I have only tried Tyrconnell once and was the 40% version and was pure PVA glue on both the nose and palate, but as you said it is taking the right steps to move in the right direction. Cheers Matt!
Yeah, the brands are inching their way towards higher ABV and more whiskey in the bottle (instead of water). As more and more brands come on stream, the old reliables have to innovate or improve themselves to keep up!
Great review especially about tastes.Light yes -very. The 43% - gimmick as is the attractive packaging. But, for the £20 I paid at Birmingham International airport happy days. It must though be the number of distillations that lets this down. If this is supposed to go head to head with lighter Speyside Glenfiddick 12 nowhere near - where did the or orchard fruit go? In terms of budget Irish whiskey as travelling companion Bushmills ordinary every time as more honest and their entry single malt in another class.
good choices! I still have a little bit of an old Kilbeggan 8 on the shelf, I think it's a little nicer than the NAS replacement (but that could be bias)
it's ok, still not my taste but way better than Glendalough yet still best whiskey ever for me is Roe&Co and best single malt is Auchentochan 12yo (i know it's scotch, haven't found my irish single yet)
There are more and more Irish single malts coming onto the market these days, but a lot of them are still young, or if they have an age statement, they are often down at 40% (like most of Bushmills!) hopefully you find the winner in 2025!
This is a weekly favorite for my buddies and me. So smooth and so enjoyable. Great review. Cheers!
Glad you enjoy it! I can see why it's a weekly favourite, simple, classic and very easy to enjoy!
Great video Matt . Really enjoying your content . Keep up the good work .

Thanks for watching! It's definitely a light, easy single malt for beginners!
Tyrconnell always works for me. Cheers Matt.
Cheers Al, it's definitely reliable!

Cheers right back at ya! Hope you enjoy the Tyrconnell and some more whiskeys from this side of the Atlantic!
sounds like another tasty one. looking forward to the cocktail on Friday. cheers
Cheers! I kept the cocktail classic to match the classic whiskey!
Matt this single malt whiskey sounds fabulous! I will see if I can track it down locally! Lovely! I like the lift to 43% ABV! Fabulous content!! 🙂
Cheers Christine! The increase to 43% definitely meant a nice increase in quality, so it's such a nice sipper!
@@TheWhiskeyNerd This sounds so delicious!! 🙂

What's your favourite classic whiskey?
Not one we have had before, wish the proof was up in the 90s but sounds delicious.
Yeah, Irish whiskey is slowly working its way up in proof, looks like 46% will become the new "standard" that people expect for good whiskeys
also tried them at the airport - were ok the port cask finish was probably the pick of the bunch
Port casks tend to make most things better!

Very hard to beat that price! Even if it's not the best, it'll still find a home somewhere!
Tyrconnel Greenore 8 or Kilbeggan 8

@@TheWhiskeyNerd lovely. I have two greenore 8 and four kilbeggan 8
in for the silver. 2nd place
hey, a medal is still a medal!
