Props must be given to Ohuhu for putting the artist as their #1 priority and not their profit margin.
Not only did they make a quality marker to match Copic.. but they listened and delivered by supplying more colours and options.
THIS level of service and business mindset is what many lack today !

And I will go further and say, They LISTEN us. They have confirmed watching my videos and reading comments, They have been making changes based on these things.

I've been using Ohuhu from their first sets and continue to this day
They have asked me repeatedly to give them my feedback and they've listened to all of it!
      Who am I?
      Exactly...
They want to hear from all of the people who use their products. And they really do listen, no matter your skill level.
The new refills are a complete game changer. Especially if you use them incorrectly!

Hey so I kinda agree but from what I've tested out , to get like some smooth blends you can use the tip to tip method
Where you just let the colour of another alcohol marker seep into the previous one for a bit and use that one to fill things in and it creates a natural gradient which is really smooth

Ohuhu gets my vote. I love my set so many colors and they blend so well. I use them in all my art now
Even compared to my Prismacolor markers set of 24, i have more variety in my ohuhu than i do those. Ohuhu has more pastels and cool/warm greys and Prismacolor just has primary and very dull colors that just get darker with the greys. Ohuhu has pastels and a more scales of muted, light, vibrant, and dark tones even when adding those greys. I love my ohuhu
I am still looking for the art marker ones to go on sale. Ohuhu also has a variety from fine tips to very large wide tipped. The fact that they now have refills make them more affordable than thier competitors.
PS marler paper sucks. It makes the ink bleed and activates the ink underneath like watercolor so blending turns splotchy. I use it for swatching only.

I see that Sakura Pigma Micron fine liner you were using. I just picked some up in 0.5mm for drawabox and hopefully some artwork inking later, also picked up some Kaala series Ohuhu markers right before that based on how you praised them and the results they're capable of (that and also the fact you liked the nib despite not liking chisel nibs usually). On the topic of Ohuhu's markers though if you see this, do you have any tips on blending them for someone whose never really used alcohol markers before? Asking because I noticed getting a good blend is very hard while getting a dark blob of a blend that you really can't even tell what colors were picked is very easy (and obviously not the results you want when blending usually).

Presumably as they are a niche company based in England, they're pretty available here, but not really as easy to find elsewhere due to budget constraints. Theyre bright and vibrant and i do enjoy them. I use both my ohuhu and w&n on projects and theyre the best combo i have. I use the w&n for more soft or skin tone colors where ohuhu i use especially the blacks and greys for the saturation and pop compared to the w&n. They both look great and I wouldn't be able to pick a pref based on Ohuhu being the only marker I've had. That said, I do wonder, what is your preference in paper for these markers. I have tried both marker paper and the Neena cardstock, and of course whatever paper the books I have use.

Quick question? If the barrels are the same size couldn't you just use the Ohuhu/Copic replacement nibs in the Winsor and Newton Markers if you like brush tips more .

    • @ADCArtAttack
      @ADCArtAttack  10 месяцев назад +1

I've never tried to insert another brands brush, however even IF it works, I don't recommend it.. The inks each use are tried and tested via their nibs flow... Changing that could have horrible effects such as over flow, drying, or crystallizing

You mentioned that the blending needs more mid markers for Ohuhu - maybe you could do a video where you use the same number of markers across brands for comparison? So that evens the playing field to show blendabilty more objectively.

I have both but my Windsor & Newton set is significantly smaller. I don't see a reason to get more because they are pricey ... unless I go overseas again.
I like the Ohuhu. I think it's a good idea to have a mix of both because they have different tones.

So basically... if we could get Winsor and Neuton to make the ink formula to the same range as Ohuhu, put it in the Ohuhu casing, availability, price, and brush nib, we would basically have the perfect alcohol marker. In my opinion, at least. I never had much of a problem with the Ohuhu inks and have tried Winsor and Neuton before, but I don't think I gave them a fair shot. Mostly because I only had a skin tone pack and to be honest, I absolutely hated the brush. Copic and W&N have the same brush issue in my opinion. Firmer nibs allow me to feel the resistence of the paper better and have better control over where I'm placing the color. Also makes me more confident in their ability to hold their shape and not fray over time.
Edit: You did get me hooked on Winsor and Neuton fineliners, though.

I'd be interested to know the shelf life of Ohuhu, if you know. Due to health reasons I only use markers now and again, but would like to have a big collection for the rare occasions that I do, so shelf life is very important. A cheap pen is expensive if you have to throw it away before getting to use it :) I bought my ProMarkers in 2010, and they are still like new in 2023, would be great if Ohuhu lasts that long too :) Also, what about the smoothness of the colours? In an earlier video you did, ProMarker was very smooth, and Copic and Ohuhu was kind of spotty. Is Ohuhu still kind of speckled?
Thank you for making a video comparing these two markers and sharing what you have learned :)

If I was to get a pack of ohuhu with a MAX budget of £50, what set would be best for someone who likes drawing animals as their main thing? I currently only really draw in black and white (pen or pencil) with the occasional posca pen drawing.
I have 1 pack of the pro markers but nothing to blend them with and a “shading pack” of spectrum noir I got for £6. I would like to have enough colours to actually blend to try markers out properly….

I don't know what is the best but honolulu series has a 36 grayscale tone set for €33,95 and oahu series has a grayscale set for €28,95 or if you're wanting markers for color then honolulu has a few 48 marker sets that are around €34-39 depending on which set you pick. If you're okay with a bullet nib and a chisel nib over a brush nib then you can get the oahu series which has 80 markers for €40,95. The Kaala series however (what I got but I am not experienced enough to comment on them nor have the bigger sets, sorry) has their illustration tones set of 60 available for €38,95 just know unlike the other series Kaala only shows one listing which has all 4 sets in it that you just switch between viewing. Honestly most of the bigger sets have a decent selection of colors that are similar to each other if you want to blend so just in case nobody else responds to you pick what suits your preference for nibs (if any) and pick what has more colors you think you'll need for drawing animals.
You'll need to check price conversions because the website listed prices in € not £ (also make sure to select the EU warehouse on whatever listing you add to cart since I assume you're in the EU)
Hopefully someone can provide a better answer but I wanted to at least give you something if not

Two points. The Ohuhu in the side by side are waaaay more vibrant/saturated colours. I get that is a matter of preference, but the difference between the two is huge. Left Barbie looks… way more lifelike.
Second point.. has anyone done any colourfast tests on all of these markers?? I would be curious to see how well the hold up in terms of archival power. I don’t recall anyone doing these tests..

Only one question. What is the difference between searching for the color you want on an actual swatch of that exact marker vs. "pretty much" the same color of a cap?
I'd rather make the choice knowing what the actual marker is without worry about the manufacturer's variables in ink pigment load.
    Just a personal choice.
Also, you get to make sure that all of your new markers are nice and wet.
Nothing like grabbing a marker that is dead, or well on its way. Perhaps a yellow marker?
    Again, personal opinion.
    Much love and respect!

I was wondering.... I have tried to buy Ohuhu's in a shop here in the Netherlands, but was told that quite a number of the inks they use are not allowed in the EU and thus these specific colors cannot be sold by brick and mortar shops (and I guess also not by online shops in the EU). Do you know if this is true? I hear a lot of enthousiastic reviews, but never heard this specific point coming up...
