It was with great sadness that I learned that Doddie had finally died from MND. I was fortunate to meet him once in the early Melrose days. A fitting tribute from Jim Telfer. His recent work to make people aware of MND and his amazing attitude to living with the disease was an example to us all. My thoughts are with his family. He will be missed.
When Jim talks.... You listen......RIP Doddie a true warrior in every sense
Lovely. Really lovely. A great tribute. Makes you cry.
Very sad news about Doddie Weir a truly great of Scottish and World rugby 🏉 and a fantastic tribute from the great Jim Telfer 😢 🙏 👍
Beautiful tribute to a true legend of the game
RIP Doddie
Thoughts and Prayers with his family
Thanks for the tribute Jim. A sad day but we should celebrate his life.
A gentleman talking about a gentleman. Lovely words by Jim Telfer, a man I've met on many occasions. Great to see him looking so well.
Welsh boy here, can't get through this without tears. Robbed through injury of that '97 lions. Bill Mclaren 'He's rampaging like a MAD GIRAFFE!' God bless and RIP big fella x
Lovely words from Jim Telfer...another legend of the 1997 Lions tour...”this is your Everest boys”
And he hasnt aged a bit...he looked about 80 yrs old in 1997, and he still looks 80 years old now😂.
Good on you Jim, and good health man
Rest Easy you lovely big man. My Father-in-law went through the horrors of MND and l know full well the progress of this atrocious disease and your bravery in coping so courageously with it. l hope that your family can take great comfort in what a lovely guy you were.
I remember well Jims pre match speech at the '97 lions tour of South Africa before the first test. I'll go on to remember this tribute to Doddy just as much.
So thanks Jim & RIP Doddy, even South of the border we'll miss you greatly.
Fantastic words by Jim ♥️
Doddie never misbehaved Jim it was always "mistaken identity" one of the greatest quotes in Lions history, 😂 RIP Doddie you will be sorely missed....
great tribute from someone who disne mince words
Not only a Rugby Legend but a truly incredible man. You’ll be missed. Rest well Doddie. 🏴
a fine tribute for a fine man, thank you jim.
Great tribute.
well said jim
I used to love hear commentary on Rugby games by Bill Mc Laren and the way the name Doddie Weir would roll off of his tongue, When it was once mentioned Doddie that he breached an 11 o Clock curfew he replied,, Mistaken identity,,,,Rip Doddie. From an Irish supporter.
Great tribute to a great man! It's not hard to see why he was so liked as a rugby man, he's shown so much courage to fight for as long as he has! Rest in peace Doddie, deepest sympathies to his wife and children.
Thank you for uploading - very sad day
So sad. Rugby lost a great player but the world lost a greater man. Inspired millions around the world through his playing days and his battle. Rest easy Doddie
Rest In Peace Doddie
Was only alerted to the sad passing of Doddie Weir by the title of this video. Rest in Peace big man (or should that be "mad giraffe") and heartfelt sympathy to his family.
Wonderful tribute from another great of the game who was obviously so closely linked to Doddie though club, country and Lions. Despite the sadness of the subject, had to smile when he said "An old lady in the borders spoke to me..." - this coming from an octogenarian!
nice tribute
Class on class, all the way.
it is a savage disease and still not fully understood.
as a Scottish rugby fan we will miss Doddie but as
a champion for mnd research he will be missed more.

So sad to hear about Doddie. We all thought we knew him, and loved him all the more. Thoughts and prayers to his family from Ireland ☘️
Brilliant tribute to a brilliant man, thankyou.
Have Doddie’s book. RIP, good and joyful man!
Great words from a good man, to a great man. Bless
Both legends I remember seeing Doddie play for Melrose I was playing rugby for combined services at the time… I had the privedge of meeting him during my service to the boss… he gave me the opportunity to challenge him….I failed, and had the bruises to show… I’ll forever remember that opportunity…till I die… Doddie your a hero and much missed…
RIP Doddie. Up there with Broon frae Troon. Gone but never forgotten.
Brilliant Tribute. ❤
It's really sad ... Jim Telfer i seen an interview of Doddie Weir Rob Burrow and Steve Darby They all have MND Really sad about Doddie
If this man is paying tribute then you no he was a great man..
Great man
That voice! Just gives extra gravitas and those scrummaging session’s in South Africa.
Rip big yin
My greatest memory of weir was when he made the comment "mistaken identity", those of you that know, will laugh at this memory.
RIP Doddie an absolute legend. Hopefully his legacy will be a cure for NMD. On a side note Jim Telfer must be drinking from the fountain of youth, hasn’t aged a day since Living with the Lions!
I don't want it to happen, but I hate to think how many futures will be runied by playing the beautiful game. RIP big man.
Jaysus, has time stopped for Jim…? He looks the same age as 20 years ago
One thing I will disagree with Doodie is this, this is not mistaken identity , you are a legend . You will be missed big guy
Jim Looks Ageless
