About the instrument: As far as I know, it's actually a traditional Korean instrument called "Geomungo" (Korean plucked zither). I was also confused & thought of "Guqin" at first but then I saw someone saying that the woman used a bamboo stick & seems like there is a string missing compared to "Guqin".
And the Seventeen ring coming out the soil seems to make his life with them one of his cherished roots too, together with his homeland, his martial art training and his b-boying! I love very much his way of thinking! And that reverse sequence itself seems to hint to a wish to come back to his origins. I think that there's so much more symbolism in this video but I can't find anything else by myself. I love your reactions so much Elliott! The use of a Geomungo instead of a Guqin actually makes a lot of sense. This was the story of his origins, and the beginning of “The8” was Korean music. He came to SK to pursue music after all, so it definitely has its roots in his life.
The first part is contemporary, then b-boying then the next was similar to the movements martial arts... For me he showed his growth as a dancer, as an artist throughout the years.
