Lads I fucking love CotE so much. The anime shits on it a little, but the LN is absolute top tier, one of my favourites. Koenji is such a fucking lad I hope you guys enjoy every single appearance he makes, he's such a beast. Introduced this to someone recently and they were like "... Is that it..? There's no magic or fantasy or anything..?" My heart broke, some people just can't understand the beauty of wanting a plain and simple daily life
As a german it would be funny to see you guys reacting to german dub. I just imagine you guys trying to pronounce stuff like Sphären Entfaltung (domian expansion). 😅
Current exchange rates puts it at about ~$700 allowance, in 2015 when it was first published, was closer to $850-$900 Still a decent amount of petty cash to just have, with most of the necessities covered already

the anime make ayanokoji more edgy than the novels and the manga and give horikita more importance. He is very thoughtful but is more normal than what the anime depict him for edgy value.

Also the first 2 volumes aren't really representative of the entire series as ayanokoji is wildly different in other volumes, and well the first 2 are basically set up volumes.
I've found that as a general rule, you can move the decimal point to the left two spaces and you'll have a general dollar value for comparing magnitude. So ¥99,844 would be $998.44, actual $885.68 in 2017 (when this came out), $648.83 in 2024 (now). Actually, it's looking like it might be better to do the above and divide by two to get a closer estimate now.

Nah, I've seen the first few chapters of the LN at least, man is no less edgy, preaching for pages on end.
