Snow really played his cards. We understand him but it doesn't justify his acts. He played the game of power and landed on top

In your opinion, was it the loss of love or his thirst to become someone that made him this way?

I think it was his thirst to be someone important and someone that could control "everything".

Great video. He loved Lucy. If you read the book, you see it. Coriolanus, like Davy Jones in POTC, carved out his heart and buried it, not to feel love again, and with his heart buried, he became a monster.

Hi ! I really like this video and your videos in general! Are you thinking of making a video about Lucy Gray and Katniss, about their parallels and how it haunts Coriolanus Snow? (A video more focused on the two girls, and the way their stories resonate with each other)

I hope you find some comfort in it, in the magic you create, in the edits you post. I hope they give you at least a little peace. You are amazing!

Snow's desire for power and control are what made him become the evil dictator we know him to be from the original trilogy. That was always within him WAY before Lucy

@@oncerand_directioner I think you're right, but why would he risk losing everything by helping Lucy Gray?

I don't know if you've read the book or not, but it makes very clear in there that Snow was only helping Lucy because he quickly realized that getting her to perform well for the Capitol citizens and win the games, would tremendously elevate his power and status in the Capitol to restore the family name to it's former glory before the war. And once Snow became a peacekeeper and actually saw how Lucy lived and what her beliefs on life were, he realized how differently they truly were and that he desperately wanted to get back home in whatever way he could. The only reason he ran away with Lucy was because he didn't know where the guns that would have turned him in were and didn't want to hang and bring shame to Tigris and Grand'mam. Once he found those weapons in that lake house, like Lucy said "If we destroy that gun you're free, you can go back home. No more loss ends" and that's all he wanted to do at that point.
The movie also tried to make that clear with how Snow started talking about how the residents of District 12 didn't deserve help because they started the war, how Lil being in jail was justified just because she was the lover of the rebel Arlo, and especially with how Snow didn't hesitate for one second to accept the opportunity to get reassigned to officer training in District 2 and again, only ran away with Lucy when he didn't know where the guns were but immediately changed his mind once he found them and realized he could destroy them

No, I haven't read the books.
This must surely be written more explicitly, even if it's true that we can guess it from the film.
To come back to the scene where the weapons are discovered in the cabin, that's where I had my doubts, because Lucy says "you're free", but since the "mini hunger games" scene between the two takes place immediately afterwards 😭
It's fair to say that without it, he would have stayed with Lucy.
      That's why I was a little confused!
But thank you very much for the explanations, I'll see about reading the books .☺️

No problem! I highly recommend not only this book, but the ones in the original trilogy as well as they expand SO much more on the world of Panem and give the characters so much more depth that unfortunately got lost in movie translation either for times sake or to keep the PG-13 rating. There's also a lot more characters in the books that aren't in the movies unfortunately, again most likely for time's sake.
For "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" book in particular, not only do you get access to all of Snow's inner thoughts that show how much of a monster he's always been, but you also see SO much more of characters that were only briefly shown in the film like Tigris, Sejanus's parents, Snow's classmates, Snow's peacekeeper friends he makes in District 12, the Covey, and you actually find out happens to Clemensia after her snake bite

1:51 I don't remember that line, where is it from. And since the books are told from Katniss's perspective, that line must've been originally from the films. I wonder if that was a kind of forshadowing for The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
