@anoushkaps2164 I love Tessa Bailey! I think Tools of Engagement might be my fave of hers. I also really enjoyed Fangirl Down but I'm still mad that it made me care about golf.
I do the same with Audiobooks, paperback and ebook. The way i look at it is like remembering conversations with people you know. You keep all those threads in order, its the same with books. That way I can have, fantasy, non fiction, scifi etc all on the go and I can pick a book for my mood that day.
Honestly, I don't even need to hear the synopsis of your series at this point. Just seeing how excited both of you are is enough for me. It does help that I read just about every genre 😊 Will be looking out for the Kickstarter announcement!!
One tool I use to avoid burnout is reading short stories. I've always got some short stories on hand to read in between other books or if I'm not wanting to pick up the book I'm working on. (And changing the tone or genre of what I'm reading.)
Congrats on the 1 year anniversary, loved the Q&A with Kit, i m currently readying the red rising currently on the third book, i read slowly since English in not my native language and have to search on words meaning, i will try to pick the Stormlight archive next. finally i hope everything will go smoothly with your books that i know will be amazing because i loved the cover art, have great day, wishing you all the best.
I'm months behind but the reread of Stormlight would be great! I just love your enthusiasm and seeing it directed towards some of my favorite books would be great!
Amazing! Kit is such an intelligent person. I hope we'll be seeing her more often. And thanks for your content, I got into fantasy books only recently, and your channel has been a good source of material. Cheers!
As the question-asker, I just wanted to share my random thoughts on storytelling in DnD (and RPGs in general) 😊 I started playing DnD about 4 or 5 years ago, and initially I found the introductory campaigns we played pretty lacking in story. We have a really great DM, but the stories themselves just didn't feel like they had a lot of substance to them (we played Lost Mine of Phandelver, for example). However, we then started a new, very epic campaign called Odyssey of the Dragonlords, and I think this is where I fell in love with this medium. It has a really deep, epic story based on Greek mythology with very high stakes and a ton of really in-depth worldbuilding. I think this was the first time when I really truly felt like being my character (a nerdy centaur), and like I was part of something grand. It helped me a lot in creative thinking and coming up with ideas on the spot. I grew really attached to my character and it's actually prompted me to think about possibly writing a novel about my character's backstory, just for me as a way to spend more time with that character. Haven't done that yet though 😅One of the other players in that campaign was always our bookkeeper and kept very diligent notes on every session. I took it upon myself to edit them and turned them into a "book" in InDesign, which we're looking to have printed some time later this year (just for ourselves). I've now moved on and am still in the early chapters of the campaign Raiders of the Serpent Sea, which has a similar idea but with Norse mythology. For this one, I think I could possibly write a whole book series on my character backstory... one day maybe😆
Hey! I'm glad you answered my question about your top 3 magic systems! I do have to agree on your POV on Mistborn about it being one of the first "hard magic systems", and TWOT not having many plotholes when it comes to the magic, however I prefer Feruchemy over Alomancy in Mistborn, and ontop of that I gotta read The Broken Earth Trilogy after you described the magic in it.
Broken Earth is just a fantastic serie. Character drama, interesting POVs, magic and a lot of science, and a really unique authorial voice. One of the POVs has a "quirky style". You would know when you read it. It's kind of off-putting at the beginning, but it's for a good reason explained in the series ending. Fantastic books nevertheless.
Also, Warning: Child physical and emotional abuse, and segregation themes. If you're sensible to these topics, it would be best to find something else to read.
What a fun video to wake up to. Again, congratulations! And your chemistry is so great and wholesome. I agree that it is about the product, but the persons help 😉 Thanks for picking up my question. Guess I'm going to prioritize finishing Discworlds. I've read about 27 of them, so quite a few to go until the last five.
Well done 👏 You both are lovely and fun. I know your books will be a great success because of how well spoken you are and the fact you communicate your points well. Happy Reading!
Loved the video! It was very interesting to hear the business perspective of the channel and of Kit's involvement on that end. Also just wanted to compliment Kit's outfit and headband, it's so cute! Love the flowers and the purple!
Omg give me the forks!!! 😂😂😂 and yes please do a Shakespeare video!! Would love that. Loved this you are so helpful getting people to fall in love with reading and still encourage to tell people to read what they want and not what they feel pressured to read.
Congratulations! Found you a few days ago and subscribed and have been watching and sharing your videos. Enjoy your insights and would love to read your books!
Happy one year to the channel 🎉 I’ve found several fantastic books through your channel so thank you! kit is awesome and would be great at doing book gal videos. Also I agree about zuko and katara 😂
Y'all are too cute. I would love to see more of The Book Gal. Looking forward to your books - gotta say the alliterative title immediately pinged the part of my brain that was shaped by reading A Series of Unfortunate Events when I was 12-13. Also would love to see a video from you on Artemis Fowl (now I really want to finish that series), and I'm down for Shakespeare month!
a book club sounds like a great idea & is super exciting. ive seen so many on fable recently & theyve been pretty fun to engage in. patreon is great too but we dont have access to patreon in my country so that sucks but i support book club!!!! & thank u for including my question hehe
@@cronkthebookguy Very true! I actually prefer to just watch them as plays though. During uni when I studied English literature, I took part in an excursion to Stratford-upon-Avon, where we watched I think 4 or 5 Shakespeare plays within one week in Stratford's theatres. It was really awesome (a bit exhausting though, especially on that one day where we watched 2 plays within the same day 🙈). My favorite was Twelfth Night, where they actually had a little water tank integrated into the stage (it was a thrust stage), out of which the shipwrecked twins would appear. Absolutely brilliant experience that made me appreciate Shakespeare a lot more. I still like to go to Shakespeare plays whenever I get the chance (and when I find them in English). Thankfully we have a Globe replica here in the Rhineland, where they have a Shakespeare festival every year with companies from allover Europe and sometimes from allover the world. I haven't gone in a while, but I should really check it out again!
Really loved this video! You two are so cute together - OTP! :) You're so close to 10k!! Would love a book club (and for Kit to do romance reviews, hehehe).
I can't wait to read your work. A fall release would be perfect, just in time for the beautiful but rainy Pacific Northwest autumn weather. Perfect for reading. (WA state here).
Yay an other great video 🎉 love this personal video from you guys. Though I can’t take credit for the Kate Daniels rec that was Aneesha with many (more) e’s, they deserve all the love for that 😊🌻. (I’m not jet well versed in urban fantasy 😅 but I do read romantasy and have recommended a few) I fully support romance videos by Kit 🖤 you two are awesome, as are your furrbabies. Hope your day is a great one 🌻
That was a fun watch! Kit is always a great bonus. Your chemistry is perfect! 👌 In regards to your upcoming Kickstarter, will there be different tiers? Possibly a faux leather cover option? With a Smith sewn binding, hubs, acid free papet, etc? That cover reveal would make for a stunning dust jacket!
That would be the DREAM. But at this stage it’s most likely we’ll have options for ebook and paperback, we still need to look into the profitability of hardcovers / special editions and if there’s enough demand for them to justify it.
A very happy birthday to The Book Guy (and Gal)! Here's to another fantastic year :D Also for releases??? Songs of Chaos #4! Although that's more likely early 2025 so I'll let you off 😉
Hahaha thanks buddy! Yeah I was thinking Songs of Chaos but I read your newsletters and I hadn't seen any hard dates yet, so assumed next year. Super keen for that Book 4 cover!!!
@@cronkthebookguy ha yeh it's unclear right now. After a rapid start the middle has proved trickier! Also breaking now to write a short story for an anthology... and... you know what... I no longer feel the panic to 'meet the algorithim'. Defiant took a long time to come out but still hit reallllly hard and everything has stayed on the up since. SoC has escape velocity from the algotirhims so I'd rather make sure the book is right. Oh and also get some reading done as well which I neglected for too long.
congratulations on a year of booktube!!! as a trans guy, I wouldn't know how to tell you to talk about Harry Potter because, as you said, the conversation surrounding it is incredibly complex. If you ever do, I personally think having the comments off would be a good and understandable decision, but personally I wouldn't touch that "debate" (in quotation marks because I don't think an argument between people supporting rights and people being bigots is a debate) with a twelve-foot pole. anyway, your channel is such a bright place, thank you for sharing your positivity and recommendations with us!
I really appreciate your perspective on this, thank you. It is a complex topic, and yes having comments off would make my life a lot easier. 😅 That's an option. Yeah absolutely, human rights are not up for debate! I'm with you there.
Have you read any Tony Shillitoe? His Dreaming in Amber series has a well done redemption arc. It’s not the main part of the book but becomes important. It’s the redemption of someone in his first series, which I haven’t read as this series interested me more. And I think knowing the “future” means I’m going to enjoy the first series when I read it even more. This series also has Australian fauna and flora within the world, has multiple views on what magic is within the books, and has the main character aging from a teen through to an old woman throughout. I’d highly recommend it if you can track down some copies (currently out of print)

Hey there! I just wanted to share my thoughts on the film adaptations of The Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit. Personally, I really enjoyed the adaptations and thought they were great!
