We were so excited to travel back to the amazing Azores to film with our friend João Rocha again! 🙌🏼

The Barbershop by João Rocha has moved into a larger space down the street from the old location in Ponta Delgada. The new space includes four barber stations, a pool table, and comfortable sitting area. There's also an impressive training area for João’s academy, as well as separate spaces for a tattoo artist and João's wife’s shop - she is a nail artist.
We planned to film a shave and wanted to include a little twist in the video to show some of the incredible scenery in The Azores ✨ The twist at the end of the video was filmed atop an abandoned hotel using the natural landscape as a backdrop.
When we visited the Azores in 2018, we saw the abandoned 5-star Monte Palace hotel overlooking Lagoa Verde (The Green Lagoon) and Lagoa Azul (the Blue Lagoon).
The hotel was originally built in the late 1980s as an exclusive retreat to draw tourists into the Azores. Let’s just say the plan was a little too far ahead of global travel and tourism trends to be successful.
The hotel managed to stay operational for about a year before it closed. For more than a decade the property was patrolled by security, but eventually that came to an end.
It was rumored to be a perfect 80s time warp when the locals gained access in the mid-2000s, but this did not last long as the property was raided for anything inside. Even the old tube TVs and bed mattresses were taken 📺🛏
The hotel is an empty shell now with rumors of being renovated which hasn’t happened yet. Derelict or not, the location of this hotel gives magnificent views down towards the lagoons.

The last 8 minutes of this video is an ASMR feast. The sounds of the breeze and the stylist's footsteps on the gravel and his painstaking attention to every detail of sculpting your hair is hypnotizing.

I watched the transition from inside to outside 5 times, a nice twist.
Took me a second to see the hairstyling was shot before the shave. He still has stubble in the outdoor hairstyling section.

Harry after watching the original video you made with barber Joao Rocha I added to my bucket list having him one day give my hair and beard the same type of treatment he gave you that day and thanks to my wife she was able to arrange for this happen this past during our visit to the Azores, my expectations were met and surpassed, Joao Rocha is a true master, and words can’t describe the beauty of this new video’s final scene with Sete Cidades as a backdrop! A+ Harry.

The arcjh window and pool table looks exactly like an old nightclub I used to visit here in Australia back in the very early 2000s the window was made up of smaller rectangular windows and looked down on an alley way. It's no longer there but seeing that one in the video brings back a lot of good memories of my early 20s 👍😎

Love the wooden floor and rope used as a partition. I've wanted to do a similar thing with stainless wire rope. The decor looks good. Plenty of foot traffic to. He does a good job. I need to visit Portugal for a shave I think 😁😎👍

His delicate and focused touch was familiar and the juxtapose of a man so powerful, he looks like he carries his car to work each day, just for a little light exrcise. And yet I have seen nuclear bomb disposal technicians with less finesse! Whether his skills with hair surpass his asmr talent is a moot point, indeed.
