Great video, Todd! I had put off buying and installing an automated garage door opener for quite some time because at my age I am unsteady on a ladder and there was no way I was going to put myself at risk with my head near the ceiling, two hands needed to wire it in to the existing controller. Then YoLink solved the problem for me with, as you say, no ladder and no wiring, and I had the YoLink Finger fully installed and operating in no more than 20 minutes! Great device! And the YoLink Tilt Sensor is a terrific addition.
This could not be any simpler to install. I like that with Yolink you have distance on your side. Just wished it would be compatible with SmartThings. Like your videos very much. Keep up the great work.
@@TheBrookerFamily yes, it can be controlled by voice. Sometimes the easiest way is to create a scene (that closed or opens the door) in YoLink, and have Alexa control the scene. For safety considerations, voice assistants typically want to ask for a passcode before they close your garage door. The scene control option will get around this. sorry about the late reply; I thought we replied already!
Todd did you get this working with Alexa voice commands? I got it working but you have to use the voice commands "unlock garage" or "lock garage". When you say "unlock garage" you must also say a code. Is there a way to use another voice command and not have to also use a code to unlock?
Great review. I'm having problems with the "up/down" buttons as no matter where I set the "rest" position for the "finger", it always goes back to a default position after I use the YoLink app to open or close the door.
Hi Frank, I noticed mine do the same...but they still move enough to trigger the buttons. If yours doesn't, maybe you could 3m tape a spacer on top of your button. -Todd
@@twHomeShow Hi Todd. Mine moves enough to push the button, but does not raise up enough to release it! I can't find information on how to use the up/down to make the "off" position stick.
From my testing and asking YoLink support, due to the safety and reliability reasons, YoLink didn't enable the automation and Alexa routines as action device.

Hi Michael, yes, this has to be the simplest smarthome gadget I have ever installed. Thanks for commenting 🙂 -Todd
Thanks Todd. 👍🏻
"peel & stick technology" I love it! We may have to trademark that!
Can you automate this with Alexa?
@@TheBrookerFamily yes, but you must use a passcode (per Alexa) for safety reasons

It's the secret Peel & Stick technology!

Great video! Will the door show open or closed on goggle Home?
Also, what cameras do you use with the Yolink system that also works with Goggle?
Can you automate this with Alexa?
good night, can you leave the yolink clamp, price a spot for 3 seconds?

Hi, can you trigger the garage door finger on Alexa if a light turns on or from Yolink automation if a plug turns on?

How can I get Alexa to close garage door when I ask?
