Thank you for sharing this footage. I was there just a few weeks ago, and I feel blessed that I was able to experience it. The experience was humbling and healing all at once. I wish everyone could experience this once in their lifetimes.
my God, how beautiful this place is, the color of the sea water is an inexplicable crystal blue, more beautiful than the caribbean, one day i plan to go there 🤩
Correct. It is a sandbar therefore the water tends to be shallow. Note, however, that the tide rises continually throughout the day. I suggest arriving there early. There are boat companies that will take you there.
You can book a 3-hour tour with "Captain Bruce." They will take you there. I do not recommend a kayak. The waves can be strong and there is a dangerous coral reef in the area.
so much for locals only...it was so nice being born and raised on the Windward side in the 70's and 80's and not having freakin' tour boats flooding the sand bar and being over run by Japanese/Chinese tourists at every turn in Kailua/Kanoehe cuz we understood that the Windward side was for Kama'aina...we had our secret spots, beaches, hikes that we kept hush hush. Now every fool has a camera's coming out of his/her 'okole and nothing is sacred or a secret for that matter....im so grateful growing up when i did.
S Joy we all live on planet earth and it is open to everyone that has only one life to live. If you want to blame anyone, blame the local government for thriving on tourism to support the island, the only real industry that Hawaii has. I remember too growing up in the 80’s and O’ahu was half as crowded as it is now.

so the water is not deep on that island?
Do you feel sand or rock under your feet?
Correct. It is a sandbar therefore the water tends to be shallow. Note, however, that the tide rises continually throughout the day. I suggest arriving there early. There are boat companies that will take you there.
so you can only get there by renting a kayak or having a private boat?
Yes or unless you know someone with a boat
