- This is how to replace and install new door latches on any Kia Rio from 2012-2017. If your power door locks don't work, this is what you'll need to do to restore key-less entry. Removing the door panel on the kia rio is done by removing 3 screws and using a pry tool. There is 1 electrical clip that you'll remove. The latch is attached to the door with t30 torx bolts. the door handle has one more screw along with 2 metal chords which can be turned and removed. Replace any parts and re-install everything the same way.

Gr8 info to DYI. I have a 2007 Kia Rio LX that appears to have a separate actuator. Very similar door layout. Not sure if my latch or the actuator is faulty (2 separate items in my car and actuator quite pricey). FAULT:- Front Drivers door wont unlock unless I turn key to left and lift outside handle (The key has no remote unlock/lock button). This action does not unlock other doors but other door work together with central locking action. The drivers door internal lock/unlock latch is jammed locked and seems to be a stuck cable, cannot open door from inside. When I put to key in the ignition I hear the drivers door actuator pulsing for a short time but nothing else occurs. Am I correct in saying only the latch is faulty as all mechanical cables go into it.
Since it’s a separate actuator, your likely correct about that but I’ve never worked on an 07. Thanks for watching!

i have a 2017 kia rio and my driver side door doesnt fully engage into lock . it has power and moves when i press on key fob just doesnt lock all the way .
Thanks so much for this! Any chance you might have some insight on a related problem I'm having with my 2012 Rondo? The power lock on the front driver's side door still kind of works, but the key entry/lock doesn't, and the whole lock mechanism is malfunctioning. If the manual switch on the interior is in the "unlock" position to start, the power lock won't lock. The key also will not lock the door. Meanwhile, if the manual switch is in the "unlock" position, the power lock won't UNLOCK it (neither will the key!), so I have to manually unlock it from the inside. BUT, if the manual switch is positioned just right - sort of in the middle between lock and unlock - the power lock WILL unlock/lock the door (while the key still does nothing) except now the mechanism seems confused. Every time I open the door, it will lock and unlock several times in a row by itself, and randomly land on either lock or unlock. It will land on unlock even when the keys are in the ignition and even if the car is on - which it shouldn't be able to do. This has resulted in me getting locked out of my car with the car running when I've forgotten to hit the power unlock button on the fob twice to unlock the rest of the doors. Luckily I was at home and had access to a spare fob in the house, but that's scary. Any idea what's going on?
I've seen this symptom before, It's the likey the lock actuator/connector. Disconnect the electrical plug that goes to the actuator and plug it back in. make sure none of the pins are bent or broken. If problem persists, replace the actuator.

If All doors lock but only driver door unlock unless you unlock manually wpuld be this??
we have a 2013 rio hatchback. the lock will not unlock on the passenger door using the fob but we can manually unlock from inside the car. Do you think it is the actuator and not the button? What is the likelihood this will happen with the other doors?
That sounds like the actuator would be the problem. It is most likely going to happen on all the doors eventually. I’ve replaced 3 of them lol.
how similar would this be to a forte koup? Also would i only need to purchase the Latch Assembly in order to make the change?
The forte has an almost identical latch assembly. If you’re having issues with the door locking or unlocking or any similar problem, replacing the assembly would likely fix the issue. Thanks for watching!

Hi, nice video very, but what if the door is permanently locked shut? Any suggestions on how to proceed? I see you disconnected the battery, does that disengage the central locking by any chance?
Hi thanks for watching. Disconnecting the battery wont unlock the door. If the door is stuck shut, you cant take out the latch assembly. I would call a locksmith. if the locksmith can get the door open, replace the latch assembly before you close it.

My driver's side door has stopped locking with the automated key, i have to turn key in lock for all doors to work in unison. It also does not lock once driving has commenced
Did you have any luck with this? I have same model and same exact issue. Thinking to give it a go myself - mechanic quoted me $700.
