6:55 if you listen carefully, you can hear the siren at the background signifying the start of a war. Bazelgeuse's theme from monster hunter was done in similar fashion. These japanese composers really know their thing when it comes to composing

02:19 chills and then 02:41 tears. This ost always freakin gets me, even after the literally thousands of times I've heard it. The craziest part is I still have no clue what this overwhelming emotion is.
Maybe nostalgia? hope? awe? resignation and moving on? desperation? resolve?
man all I know is this resonates with a very primal part of my soul. Not just touching and igniting it, but absolutely ripping into it and exploding it from within.
Also, I heard this first in a compilation long before I watched the show. So it amazes me even more how much emotion this stirs up as a standalone piece.

Man, Hiroyuki Sawano makes amazing music. He also composed music for the video game Xenoblade Chronicles X, which has some of my favorite osts ever, and I was so shocked when I heard he also composed the music for AOT. The style fits so well and made me love AOT even more
YES, Hiroyuki Sawano is Japanese version of John William, or maybe Joe Hisashi (composer for Ghibli series). but my point is, Japanese composers are really clever to make "memorable" soundtracks with strong melody and mixed pop-rock-orchestra
One of the very few soundtracks in AOT that no matter how many times you listen, you'll never get tired or bored.
Epic is a word that defines AoT for me.

This soundtrack is so unique. I've rarely heard an instrumentation quite like it (I think "2chijou" is so fun and fascinating). The soundtrack is epic and emotional and delicate and complex and quirky all at once... just wow. "T-Kt" from season 3 is stunning. Props to the composer, Hiroyuki Sawano.
2chijou is the lowest listened song on the AoT season 1 soundtrack on Spotify. It is a clear cut third best track after Counterattack and Vogel Im Kafig for me. Reluctant Heroes third and finally the original AoT theme.

I dont think AoT will spoil your anime rabbit hole experience. When you start anime it's honestly just banger after banger show. So many great and different anime shows out there.

Sci-fi (Cowboy bebop, Evangelion, Code geass)
Mystery, Psychological thriller (Deathnote, Summertime render, monster, serial experiments lain)

Drama (Anohana, silent voice, i want to eat your pancreas)
Shonen (Demon slayer, jujutsu kaisen)
Slice of life (March comes in like a lion, Blue period)
Sports (Haikyu, Ao ashi)
Romance (your name, 5 centimeters per second)
And honestly so many more I probably left out tons of great anime from this list....bottom line is: there is no way you wont find another great anime to watch, I'd argue you'll find many that are even better or entitely different and refreshing.
Nothing tops AoT.

Hiroyuki Sawano is the composer you are talking about. When you said Japanese John Williams it hit hard because I had always thought that. Hobestly the man is a genious. Check out the soundtrack to the anime 86. It is equally awesome, a lot of it by Hiroyuki as well.
The best video with aot music is the one with some of the best ost of the show (singing also) on the composer channel.

definitely be cautious of the recommendations! AOT has so many big, iconic reveals that it's easy to get spoiled by accident! it might even be a good idea to get a comment moderator to make sure nothing gets spoiled :)
Without getting into spoilers there's an scene coming up for you next episode/in a couple episodes (can't remember) with a track called E.M.A.; it's not the first time it appears, but it fits so well, I love that scene and I keep rewatching it from time to time
Most great anime have great openings and great score. Re-watch aot with your wife after finishing season 4. It's an amazing re-watch.

I watched a lot of anime and AOT is my favourite. But don't worry. There are so many great anime series. You will like them.
The Kenny Soundtrack one is also another really good one, I think is called "K2", maybe because in japanese "2" is "ni", so it's like "ke-ni"? Idk, but the soundtrack is awesome, Sawano's work is awesome, I think he's the same music director in Kill La Kill and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. My dream is to get to hear a soundtrack made by Hiroyuki Sawano and Dan Romer (Dan Romer did soundtrack of Far Cry 5, Beasts of no nation, etc, he's awesome as well).

I recommend the ost "YouSeeBIGGIRL/T:T" and "ERENthe標" but after you have finished season 2
SPOILER FREE - yeah we can of screwed you with AOT. It's quite well recognized as this eras classic and among the best shows ever made. The thing is as much as you love it all ready I wonder how much you will love it later because you've just gotten started.
Other extremely good shows are: Code Geass (My personal favorite and my first anime.), Fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood (the highest rated anime of all time for over a decade straight) and then Death Note (probably the best thriller/detective story ever made.)

Just a heads-up if you're reacting to the soundtracks of AOT and the like, there is a live studio recording of I believe most if not all the audio from the show. They use dynamic lighting to change the moods between songs and Hiroyuki the big man (and my fav composer) himself is in the middle of the studio on the piano jamming along with the music. I highly recommend those for reactions!
For reference, the keywords are "AOT live studio soundtracks" and it's under the Project[emU] suite. that's the full video, which is almost 20 minutes, and I'm sure that if you search up individual soundtracks that someone has clipped those individual parts.

It's only the beginning in you're anime journey, you will never get out! Darling in the Franxx orchestral soundtrack is wonderful i recommend it. I also enjoyed the opening.
Man, don't worry, I got tears in my eyes while listening to music easily, but listening to Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood OST gets me everytime.
I feel like you’d enjoy some of the most realistic and dark anime shows, so I’d recommend checking out:
-Death note (an absolute detective classic)
-Parasyte(feel like it’s more philosophical, but has a lot of action and gore as well)
-Death parade (short but gold)
-Beastars! (New show that may seem weird, but I really enjoy the plot so far)

I personally think attack on titan is the best, but another huge favorite of mine is Tokyo Ghoul. It has yet another beautiful, absolute breath-taking musical score and the story/themes/characters are amazing as well. I'd highly recommend it
Note: the anime is not as good as the manga but let's be real here, that would be pretty hard to live up to

This was my favorite OST when I first watched ATO. I'm really happy to see someone appreciate this score. The violin? in the background always makes my blood pumping when I'm listening to it. Love it.
On another note I hope you will make some re:zero reaction. It has some copyright issues, but I love the series. It's isekai but with nice twist.

Attack on titan is one of the greatest anime of all time. There is no doubt about that. There are some other animes which is on the top tier list. They may not be bloody, full of action and animated amazingly but there are many animes with great writings. One of them is 'Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood' whose openings and endings you have reacted recently.

Oh man, you’ve gotta hear Barricades and Eren Zahyo from the soundtrack. There are also artists here on RUclips that do covers of some of the songs, like Samuel Kim! Literally any of his AoT covers. They’re so good.
If we have to compare to videogames industry , AoT should be a AAA production.
I feel you on images while listening to these songs. Songs are so spot on for each moment i can literally replay any moment of the show in my head listening to songs only. The songs are so charged emotionally that it could be telling it's own story like in your head, but they are masterfully matched to the show and remade over in different scene with a little twist to match each one.

For me personally aot is my joint second favourite with fullmetal alchemist brotherhood just behind kaguya-sama and there are quite a few anime I would put right behind them. Such as steins gate, code geass, Gintama, link click, the fate series and quite a lot more that I have seen. On the other hand with shows I haven’t I would say hxh, one piece, monogatari series , haikyuu, made in abyss, Hajime no ippo. That isn’t even mentioning Vinland saga, mob psycho, one punch man, 86, odd taxi, ranking of kings, demon slayer, jujutsu kaisen, monster, mushoku tensei, spy x family, violet evergarden, vanitas, your name, a silent voice, naruto, bleach, death note, jojo and the many other anime I can’t think of at the moment. You have a lot to check out and I think your will enjoy at least 2/3 of these a lot.

14:25 that’s what happened to me kinda, AoT was my first anime as an adult (I saw Naruto and dragon ball as a kid tho) and I feel like there is nothing else that makes me feel what aot does. The one that is closer to it is Death Note, if aot is my personal 10/10 then death note is my 9.5/10. Others that I REALLY like is Evangelion and I can’t rate it because it’s in a league of its own.
Others that I enjoy are Full metal alchemist and Naruto, both really action packed and filled with emotion 👌

It's true that AOT is one of the best animes; it's practically it's own genre. We'll have to have you dabble in other genres later :) Like personally I don't think you woild ever pick Madoka Magica by yourself, but that is one mindfuck of an anime.

Dude, you really should react to "Hiroyuki Sawano / Project【emU】 “Attack on Titan” suite" video! It's basically the best pieces of the AOT soundtrack put together into one suite and played live with the original musicians and the main composer (Hiroyuki Sawano). I have watched that video countless times and I get so many emotions every time! ❤❤❤
At this point, I think we should say that John Willians is the American version of this, instead of the other way around.
Attack on Titan is a great show indeed, but it's also a great gateway into anime.
There're several of animes in the quality caliber of AOT and higher, so don't worry! :D

86 is a recently new anime and it has a great story and fights it has some mecha in it which I love, I think you will probably like it for the future as a recomendation haha and the music it has is the same as the AoT compositoner [Hiroyuki Sawano] the master of japanese music
