Dumb Decisions: The STUPIDEST FIELD GOAL in Monday Night Football HISTORY | Broncos/Seahawks (2022)

- Опубликовано: 12 сен 2022
- In week 1 of the 2022 NFL season between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks, on Monday Night Football, Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett had some of the worst clock management and decision making you're ever going to see. With the Broncos trailing by 1 point with a minute left and all of their timeouts, Hackett did the unthinkable with his stupidity, completely costing his team the game in the process. This is a breakdown of that dumb decision

What you are forgetting is that the altitude in Denver makes long kicks more likely. Oh right, this game was in Seattle.
Hackett believes in a flat earth so Denver has the same elevation as Seattle
6 feet above sea level babyyyy
And unless your kicker's name rhymes with Dustin Bucker, you have a 0% chance of making this.
This will not end conspiracy theories that the dude tanked the game on purpose.
@@forestgeorge8855 I highly doubt they would throw a game on purpose. Even if they won, the line was around 6 and Denver still wouldn’t have covered.
previously on JG9 “no dumb plays like this should happen anytime soon.” 24 hours later…
lol when Walmart owns the broncos, you get “great value” results 🤣
Coming back after Hackett got fired, the 4th in NFL history during their first season.
This video could not have aged any better.
“This is the best case to fire a coach after 1 game”
Even if MacManus made the kick, that doesn’t make the decision less stupid, it just would have meant Hackett got bailed out.
When this whole thing manifested, I automatically went, "I'M SORRY, WHAT???" in JaguarGator9 voice. And funny you mentioned Urinatingtree in the beginning- I can't wait for the first episode of Sportsball after this horrendous set of decisions by Nathaniel Hackett.
By the way, the Broncos inability to score a touchdown while deep in the Seahawks red zone on THREE CONSECUTIVE DRIVES is completely unacceptable.
Especially fumbling the ball TWICE at the one yard line. I can’t believe Melvin Gordon is even allowed to still touch a football field.
The Dumpster Fire is where you may hear a few bleeps that you would have expected for this dumb decision.
I can already hear Tree's laugh
Chef Russ! We who live in the Puget Sound are quite familiar lil Russ and his all or nothing QBing.
I heard "You blew it!!!" In Urinating Tree
What makes this even worse is that he watched McManus miss the 64-yarder badly (when Pete Caroll stupidly decided to take a timeout) and didn't rethink things. He then proceeded to try to call timeouts while Geno Smith was kneeling because he seemed to think he still had three timeouts. Nathaniel Hackett looks extremely clueless and like he's about to take a promising and loaded Broncos team to the bottom.
This game was fixed yall. How cant yall see through this. I said this was gonna be fixed before it started, being 80% of the money was on denver covering the spread(not to mention all the money line bets. And its not a suprise being the spread was of course 6.5. Denver had all this preseason hype and everyone thinks seattle will suck(rightfully so). So all the casual bettors and then some, will get sucked in thinking denver wins by at least a td. Then of course denver has an insane amount of penalties called against them.
@@jaseallenson316 idk how much the thc percentage averages at in denver these days but clearly you are a mile the fuck high, ass coach is running a great team into the ground and no match fixing was gonna keep hackett from being a hack. try the cbd for the pain, mike zimmer fucked my team no condom or lube for like a full decade and didnt even give us a reacharound
@@jaseallenson316 The Broncos could have scored a touchdown on the last drive and still wouldn't have covered the spread. The field goal had nothing to do with being fixed and everything to do with bad coaching.
@@jaseallenson316 I know very well how NFL games are fixed from time to time. But this wasn't the case. I watched that whole game and there wasn't anything egregious to me officiating-wise except for blatant holding going uncalled when the Broncos converted 3rd and long.
If Denver didn't want all those penalties called against them they should learn how to snap the ball before the clock hits 0.
@@jaseallenson316 Not sure how you can force Denver to fumble at the goal line three times.
Hey I wouldn't be too hard on Hackett. He just handed you the best Dumb Decisions episode ever! 😂😂😂
Oh no, he’s becomes the gift that keeps giving even with more assistance from other coaches 💀
The clock management by Denver on the last drive was beyond hideous.
I mean you had two timeouts I mean you could use one.
If they woild have tried on 4th and five and failed you would have said that was the worst decision ever. He should have tried to kick the field goal.
Armchair internet coaches have perfect 20/20 hindsight.
@@OneOut1 No, we would have ripped them for all of the penalties and the red zone turnovers. Both are signs of bad coaching.
@@OneOut1 you support trying a fg that had a .0000002% chance of success? Yikes. 4th and 5 with 2 or 3 timeouts is a much better chance for success.
The cherry on top of this was that he then called the remaining 2 timeouts while Seattle was in kneel down mode, even though there was zero chance of getting the ball back.
I saw this game at my college with a total stranger. We both legit thought they would try to get the 4th and 5 with Russ, and were both totally dumbfounded at the ending. What a stupid game and stupid coaching decision.
The real question
Did you become friends with them?
Another thing you're missing. The Seahawks took a time out to ice the kicker, but called it late. So, McManus essentially got a free practice kick. And missed it badly. Then, Hackett decided to prolong the game by taking his two remaining time outs while the Seahawks were in victory formation. Not only that, but he seemed to be arguing with the referee on when exactly he took them, like an extra 1-2 seconds makes a big difference.
Absolutely crazy. It's obvious that the first timeout was taken when it was specifically to run off as much time as possible, to minimize the amount of time for Seattle to come back down 19-17. That timeout only makes sense if he was planning to go for the field goal all along. And then to forget that you'd used that timeout?
...Clearly he was still a bit confused that he wasn't ahead.
I was JUST telling a coworker about how the Broncos had a better shot at that 4th & 5 than the 64yd FG! 🤣
Agreed
We now know who the next Dallas Cowboy head coach will be. This is a Dallas Cowboy type decision all the way.
Honestly it felt like Hackett was throwing the game.
What I don’t get is, why did they not use their timeouts before the clock went all the way down to 20 seconds, but then used timeouts after they had already turned the ball over on downs and the game was essentially over. Not only was he dumb but also super petty and childish.
Yeah, so true. 'Hawks coach Pete Carroll even took a jab in the post game saying he loved getting to celebrate the win 3 times at the end because of those lame time outs.
I mean you save timeouts for a reason so yeah it doesn't make sense.
Hackett deserves a lot of shit but I don’t know why people care so much that he used timeouts during the victory formation plays. He’s not the first coach to do that. Hell, Pete Carroll himself has done that before.
There are a lot of reasons to criticize Hackett. That’s not one of them.
It’s always encouraging when you make it into Dumb Decisions before you win a game.
The moment you realize that Walmart owns the Denver Broncos and has a coach from the bargain bin. BTW, the only way a kicker is kicking from 64+ has the horse from the movie Gus on their team.

You only needed to wake up for the end. Lol. I wish I'd fallen asleep.
How not to make a first impression: Ladies and gentlemen, I present as Exhibit A: Nathaniel Hackett.
To make things MORE PETTY, Hackett called a FINAL TIMEOUT at the end. WHO DOES THAT?! JUST TAKE THE L! DON'T BE PETTY LIKE THAT!
Actually he called two timeouts didn't he?
Man y’all have earned tons of respect. Joining up with the 5 points guys is gonna be great! Can’t wait to hear UrinatingTree’s analysis of some of your bad coaching decisions vids especially.
I wonder if we will see his face.
@@dustinsindledecker154 If not then maybe he will be wearing a Jaguar helmet with a dark visor.
It will involve copious amounts of various profanities
Nate Hackett was the oc in Green Bay when they melted down on offense in the second half of those games in the playoffs. Of course as mentioned in the video we here in Jacksonville know all too well about Nate Hackett and his offense.
JG9 went total beast mode on Hackett at the end w/o 1 F-Bomb! Great video!
The overall clock management in Week 1 made this feel like another Preseason week.
Well tbf week 1 essentially is week 5 of the Preseason
Hackett will hold a talented Broncos team back. As a Denver fan, i’m actively rooting for losses in hopes he gets fired end of season and doesn’t get a chance to ruin multiple seasons for us. Had hopes of maybe competing for AFC title, but after seeing Hackett last night i feel best case scenario is wild card loss.
If you had hopes of competing for an afc title and you’re disappointed that’s completely your own fault. I wish scarlet Johansson was interested in me. These are the same. They had the exact same possibility of being true. Be happy that the avalanche won the cup and sit football season out.
@@richardtherichard26 with Hackett at the helm i’ll glady sit this season out, no need to watch that garbage. You want to see a 13-4 team go 8-9? Neither do I!
The popular opinion that even when Hackett was first hired, the Broncos had chosen the wrong Packer assistant.

Can we do a dumb decisions video on the miracle at the meadowlands where the giants refused to kneel out the clock up by 5 in the final seconds?
Indeed that would probably be the stupidest decision ever made in NFL history. I mean that decision is why teams kneel
As much as the Seahawks winning makes me mad, I’m way more mad at Denver for failing at almost every chance they had to win this game.
It's one freaking game 16 left get over it. The broncos will fix the mental mistakes and coach will learn from this!!
6:38 BEHOLD, THE HIGHEST YOU WILL EVER HEAR THIS MANS VOICE BOX GO.

As usual, you never disappoint, JG9. 😂👍
I'm a Seahawks fan and even I was stunned by the Broncos' poor clock management.
My morning coffee tastes so much better due to you posting this.
It was a great way to have coffee
I’ve been going through all of your dumb decision videos from earliest to most recent, and I have to say that this still remains your greatest work. Your “on the moment” reactions to certain moments are your best reactions, and they were truly funny. But it was the analytics quote and then revealing it was said by “NATHANIEL FREAKING HACKETT” got the biggest laugh out of me. Your reactions to this were on par with my reactions whenever I get a bot or unbeatable opponent in an H2H game on Madden.
Funny how two of the dumbest coaching decisions of all-time involved whether you put the ball in Russell Wilson's hands at the end of a game. One was a yes, one was a no, and both blew up in the coach's face. Situations matter.
I knew you were going to do a video on this. And it didn't disappoint in the slightest bit.
If Denver had just kicked a field goal on fourth and goal earlier in the second half they’d have won the game . So you don’t always need to try for it on fourth and goal ! Sometimes it helps to be conservative especially when the game is nowhere near over !
@JR Y I agree 100 percent if the Cotls would have kicked the field goal on 4th and goal in the first half like we did in 2nd half they could ahev won instead missing it it OT qnd tying
I saw this game from beginning to end, and I was _really_ on edge, thinking that the Broncos would win, but Brandon McManus _barely_ missed the game-winning field goal, and I screamed.
Your Dumb Decisions video, IMO, is the best I’ve seen so far.
HEADLINES: “Nathaniel Hackett defeats the Denver Broncos”
Another video where a parallel to a recent Detroit Lions game exists:
• In Week 3 of the 2021 season _v._ the Baltimore Ravens, on the final play of the game, Justin Tucker nailed a 66-yard field goal to take Detroit to 0-3, and giving Tucker the current record for longest made FG in NFL history.
I honestly believe we will see a 70-yard field goal attempted again and at some point, one will be made from that distance. It’s only a matter of time.
Yeah. But that kick was at the very end of the game. The Ravens options were to try from 66 with Tucker or try a Hail Mary. If that was what the Broncos were dealing with, I'd get it. But even at 20 seconds, they had enough time to get to within 50.
@@mfdixon1985 Yeah but still it was similar enough.
@@a.grimes4202 no if the broncos take a time out they could run a couple of pass plays get within 50 easy field goal the ravens had literally no time and said fuck it
@@jacobcorn7758 Whatever. My original post still stands.
As a Bronco fan, I nearly had a heart attack as I was screaming profusely at the TV. I have never seen such a dumb decision in my life. I am usually optimistic with head coaches but I wanted the Broncos to just leave behind HACKett in Seattle. The experiment is already failing.
Watched this live, knew before the kick even happened that I would see this video today
Watching that live, I knew a video was coming but I am shocked at how fast this came out!
This game was just a taste of the "ride" broncos country was about to endure
JG9 congrats on appearing the dumpster fire podcast I hope this will help you get more views and subs for your awesome work.
I could see if you had a backup or highly inexperienced QB playing, but Russell Wilson? Why trade the assets and give him the money if you're gonna bench him for a freaking kicker, who has a career 52% accuracy from 50+ yards (vs roughly 45% odds of converting on 4th down)?
Somewhere Marshall Lynch is laughing 😂

When I saw this FG attempt, I just knew you were gonna make a video on it. I was like no way he doesn't make a dumb decisions video on it lol. I was dumbfounded after seeing this whole thing play out.
As a Chiefs fan I was laughing so hard at this level of sheer stupidity lol! How someone can weasel their way into a head coaching gig when 10 yos playing Madden have better situational awareness is beyond me!
Are you top or bottom???
I think Matt Eberflus had a nice debut, made great halftime adjustments and got an upset win
His halftime adjustment was a prayer to Thor, the God of Thunder, and a rainstorm came in and leveled the literal playing field. Those conditions favor the prepared.
I couldn't believe it watching the game last night. I thought they were going for it. So stupid.
3 Timeout with a QB that could easily gives you yards to get closer to the Field Goals with plenty of time...
Called me Loco but I wouldve ran the next 3 play to get closer
It was 4th down and 5. They had to either kick the 64 yarder or risk a turnover on downs converting a 4th and 5. Running other plays wasn't an option at that point
@@nickdarr7328 Yea since they let the clock down to 20 seconds. Broncos shouldve hurry up and run and even if they missed they would still have thier 3 Timeout and thier D playing good
I was waiting on this lol
Broncos had poor time management the whole game. There were multiple delay of game penalties, including two of them on one of the failed red zone drives. Should not be shocking after that that they would be stupid with the clock at the end.
Tell me you're a first time head coach without telling me you're a first time head coach.
I was waiting for this 🤣
This was an excellent piece.
Don’t forget even after that and the hawks got the ball back he had the nerve to use both his timeouts
I knew this was coming LOL
This is hacketts first HC job at any level, he’s always been an offensive coach but he has without fail put together lame duck offenses.
After last season, Denver needed serious help on the offensive side of the ball so what do they do? They hire a guy who has never had any serious success at running an offense!
Great job Broncos.
Is he Paul Hackett’s son ? Paul Hackett was a horrible play caller for Dallas long ago
He's an offensive coach alright. Offended all the Broncos fans.
@@hermixtonen yep he’s his son, Nathaniel first NFL coaching gig by the way was on the buccaneers at the exact same time his dad was QB coach there. Guy has basically ridden his dads name for his entire career.
If I were part of the Bronco Nation, I would be asking for his head. What a dumb ass decision!
I was in night classes at school for most of this game, but I got back in time to catch that entire fourth quarter. And the entire time, I thought "How in the hell are they losing this?". Then I saw Russel Wilson start slowly picking apart that defense and thought, "Okay, they'll come back and win it at the last second". BUT THEN THEY WENT FOR A 64-YARD FIELD GOAL! And I only had one word on my mind: "WHY!?"

Nathaniel Hackett proved last night he shouldn’t be coaching in the NFL at all. Terrible coaching
I was watching this game and I thought for sure you would have made a dumb decisions video on this game. I would have been UTTERLY shocked if you didn't. That was the most ATROCIOUS clock management I've ever seen. Just DUMBFOUNDED. However I'm glad the Seahawks won.

Bro with 20 seconds 2 timeouts on 4th & 5
I would of ran a Play Action play on 4th down. Jerry Jeudy, & Sutton were dropping passes but not a 5 yard route.

I’m a huge Denver Broncos fan and I watched this game last night and I could not believe they tried a 64 yard field goal. Like seriously. Why would you go ahead and try to attempt a 64 yard field goal when you had two timeouts left with 20 seconds left. And it was 4th&5
00:10 Mama, he made it.
14:44 I said Nathaniel Hackett as a joke and then... yeah

The second this game ended I wondered if you were gonna a video about it.
JG9, the instant he attempted the field goal, I knew that you were going to make the video, and justifiably so.

This unofficial Official Jaguar Gator 9 historian believes this is the earliest you’ve yelled, “I’m sorry, WHAT?!”
as a Chiefs fan this puts smile on my face
Inept OC who tanked Sacksonville's offense and rode Aaron Rodgers for a couple years is now a head coach in our division, and mortgaged their future to get a quarterback they trust a kicker on a historically really awful attempt over?
Nah, I think Andy Reid and 15PM2 have these horses asses covered.
Its almost like the TV show why planes crash once you make one bad decision it just steam rolls
To be fair, if you are gonna go for the field goal, then you want to run the clock down so there's no time left for the opponent...BUT they should've used the opportunity to try getting the defense to jump offsides.
hey, at least this led to the coldest quote by geno smith “they wrote me off, i ain’t write back tho”
