Had a similar game the other day a passing gally dumped a skelly gally on us which proceeded to face fuck me and ignored everything else. Unfortunately, the other player wasn't as cool as your opponent and boarded and killed me.
I'm not an expert, but as I understand it, sails to the side gives a better circle, and we pick hard right because the opponent is usually to our left, so you get better visibility, especially on helm.
With sails flat to the middle, the difference in speed is massive, when against wind really slow, when with wind really fast. With sails to the right, the difference in speed is slower, meaning that our spiral will be more consistent, when we do catch wind however we have them on the right side we will under turn safely, rather than on the left where we will overturn dangerously, also it doesn’t block view as much.

The amount of third parties in solo hourglass is getting kinda ridiculous. Like 3 gallons, a sloop and a brig, just this weekend.
This is why we need pvp Servers for hourglass. Just two boats with the Same recources and nothing else going on until the fight is over ffs
Or add an option for a free for all mode with 3 or 4 boats
