I've followed Miley the person more so than Miley the singer, but this version of Jolene might be the best that I've heard. Her vocal abilities have grown by leaps and bounds since her teens. I wouldn't have minded if she slowed it down a bit, but the uptempo does work the way they performed it. Her sister Noah has several really good songs out and their vocals are very similar. Listen to the song JULY - the version that features Leon Bridges. It is ahhh-maz-ing! And if you haven't listened to any Leon Bridges, definitely get on that (he's from Texas!). RIVER was his breakout hit. He doesn't do crazy vocal runs; he just stands and sings and his lyrics cut right to your core. Speaking of him - watch the video of SWEETER (if you haven't seen it) that he released just a couple of weeks after George Floyd's death. I was absolutely gutted after hearing it the first time. and especially seeing the video that looks like he filmed in his home neighborhood.
