THE IMITATION GAME is a nail-biting race against time following Alan Turing (pioneer of modern-day computing and credited with cracking the German Enigma code) and his brilliant team at Britain's top-secret code-breaking centre, Bletchley Park, during the darkest days of World War II. Turing, whose contributions and genius significantly shortened the war, saving thousands of lives, was the eventual victim of an unenlightened British establishment, but his work and legacy live on.
    Director: Morten Tyldum
Producers: Teddy Schwarzman, Ido Ostrowsky, Nora Grossman
    Writer: Graham Moore
Cast: Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Mark Strong, Rory Kinnear, Charles Dance, Allen Leech and Matthew Beard
THE IMITATION GAME is out in UK cinemas November 14th.

Don’t think that Benedict is unintelligent for not understanding the full extent of the math, it was extremely complicated. If it was that easy, it wouldn’t have taken years and the best mathematical minds to comprehend.

What I Iove most about Benedict Cumberbatch is, that even if you go to watch a film because he takes part in it, after a short amount of time you'll forget who he is and only see the person he plays.
The story of Alan Turing really brought me to tears when I saw the film yesterday and all I want to do is travel back in time and honor this incredible man for what he has done!
There were always people like him. Heros and people who suffer in silence we'll never know about. All we can do is help everyone around us as good as we can because
“Sometimes it’s the people no one imagines anything of who do the things no one can imagine”.
And I'm really happy Mr. Turing kicked our ass. xD

Always respect actors like benedict who openly articulate his thoughtful respect of the character he portrays, and given that it's for the works of an equally creative and disciplined field as science, even if they are only artists' with acting for the role written into the sci-fi film character, I feel still it's truly great to get honest answers nevertheless the interview hype existing while trying to keep things grounded,.. and plus as always what a fantastic voice he has ;)

Just as the movie tells us.
"...The interesting question is, just because something, uh... thinks differently from you, does that mean it's not thinking? Well, we allow for humans to have such divergences from one another. You like strawberries, I hate ice-skating, you cry at sad films, I am allergic to pollen. What is the point of... different tastes, different... preferences, if not, to say that our brains work differently, that we think differently? ..."
What is wrong to be different? What is wrong to think differently? They might not be really good at maths and computer science, but they have other talents... They're good at acting, drama... They ARE Alan Turing and Joam Clarke(I am not sure about this one)... Their endeavours in this movie and many others touch and amaze us.

Unless it's something of geomatric nature - i am also horrible at math. I think the reason why roots within the way it was presented to us in school. Math teachers tend to be anti-social, which is one of the reasons I never developed an interest for this subject: To me everything was an "imitation game" and sypmathy was crucial in oder to get me on board. Unfortunately most teachers - despite sientific evidence - only want to create blind obedience instead of trust and mutual respect, not paying attention to the fact that we (especially as children) learn best from the people we love - not from the people we fear.

Glad that they were asked not just about the "maths", but also about "crosswords", which feature in the movie, and especially for Keira Knightley's character "Joan".
I'm impressed that she did enough character research to try one ("We should really be doing a crossword", 2:50) and admit the outcome - it took several of them five days to partially complete a "Quick" crossword. I wonder whether that was a cryptic?
As I recall, the movie doesn't bore the viewer with the distinction between cryptic crosswords and non-cryptic, but the implication is that they are talking about cryptics.
As both a computer programmer and (cryptic) crossword solver, I didn't see any connection between crosswords and code-breaking, as implied by Turing in the movie. To me it was just a quick cinematic device to show "This guy is smart. And the girl is smarter".
Still, among my programming colleagues there is a higher proportion of crypic crossword solvers than in the general population, but certainly nowhere near 50%.

I feel like, no scratch that, I know that I would be better at math if my teacher wasn't Chinese. I can't understand what he's saying half the time and to be honest he really isn't that good of a teacher. The only reason I, and the other nine people in the class, haven't failed is because 1) the internet is a wonderful place to get information, and 2) he allows us to correct our homework and tests. He also allows us to turn in our homework whenever we please, so I guess there are ups and downs to the situation. I'm mostly just putting this here so that years from now when I go through the comments I've posted on my google+ page, I'll see this and be like "Oh yeah, I remembered that." Hello me from the future. I hope I've done well for myself. Anyways, it's late and I'm going to retire to bed. Well, I'm already in bed, I just need to sleep.
