About the first story, I haven't heard it yet and I honestly believe that children come first. Having said that, my ex's daughter lied constantly to her father about me. They speak another language and she thought I didn't understand, but I understood enough to know how she trashed talked and lied to him daily. I never called her out but when asked, I would say the truth without letting him know that I understood the lies she said. In the end it didn't matter. Even if I were perfect, that I wasn't, he would still leave since his daughter and his mother both saw me as a threat to their economic stability and wouldn't let him spend not even 20 minutes alone with me.
