You have made best use of your available space. I was expecting to see Ghost orchid in your collection as I am reading The orchid thief. After watching your vandaceous orchids growing more root biomass than shoot I wonder why they grow like this. Do you think it's beneficial for them.

I have met the orchid thief - he is a real hustler - he thought that he remembered me from somewhere....
In nature, Vandas can grow like mine are growing - long roots going a long distance to collect water. They may be growing like that for me because they do not get watered every day, as is common practice here. There may be more water associated with the trunk of the palm trees.

Thanks for your comment. I have a lot of orchid colleagues who have thousands of orchids and it tires me out thinking about caring for that many plants!!!

Hi, amazing collection. What's the name of the orchid you mentioned as one of your favorite plants placed in a chair with seed capsules? Great place!

That is Cattleya Odom's Grand Delight - I saw another bloom spike coming out of that plant today. Many of my seedlings have this in their background but this plant has not been awarded yet. I highlight this in one of my older videos at about the 7 minute timepoints:

@@cesarpedroza2047 I purchased this plant as a seedling from Odom's Orchids located in Ft. Pierce FL. This is not a clone but is a seedling, and is different from the other seedlings that I have seen from this same cross. I just checked their website and they do not have it listed anymore but you may be able to buy one from them if you contact them. But, it will not be the same as mine and I do not know if the other seedlings are as vigorous as mine.

Your space is tighter than I thought from the back-of-the-frame peeks we had before! My suggestion is: Get rid of the swimming pool! LOL... Or cover it up and build another pergola on top of it! I've had a pool in the house for most of my life as a boy and a young adult, and I have learned a good lesson about those! First year or two with a pool in the backyard is great! Lots of fun, lots of friends, cousins and neighbors coming over for a refreshing swim! But then, everybody gets used to it and nobody, I mean NOBODY else uses it any more. Except for one or two days in peak summer when you get a visit from that cousin who lives the farthest... Plus, it was MY job in the house to take care of the pool and keep it blue and clean, which demanded time, effort and spending, all that for one or two days of use per year... As I grew older and went on to live by myself, I swore: No more swimming pool at home. Also, I love the visit of the little lizards too! Some species in the family Tropiduridae are quite numerous around here, and I wonder how many more insects I would have to deal with without them!

That was a fun comment. The truth is that I have no jurisdiction over the pool and the screened area inside of the pool cage. I was just happy that the pool did not cover the whole back yard space, where my orchids are now located. The pool does get used fairly often - by me and my visitors. At the end of a hot day tending my orchids, I used to ride my bike to the beach and take a quick dip but I have become lazy and just jump into the pool now.

@@plantpropagator Not to mention that there was a vigorous, old thick trunked mulberry tree right by the pool in one of the houses I lived!! Can you think of that!!?? It is a cold, cloudy winter day here, so that may be why I am so grumpy with the pool... lol... Enjoy your summer!

Ain't it the truth!!!! I finally drained mine and just covered it up. I haven't filled it in, but I'm thinking about it. It was nice when the kids were here but they're all grown up now and it just doesn't make sense to continue cleaning it all the time when literally KNOWBODY SWIMS IN IT!
