- What do Robert Preston, Craig Bierko, Patti LuPone, Tyne Daly, and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane have in common? At one point in each of their careers, they've performed the classic showtune "Trouble" from The Music Man. One of the great rousing numbers in musical-theater history, it can be performed in various styles, as this new supercut from TheaterMania proves.

Robert Preston is the king of this song.
Andrew Davies Agreed. And Matthew Broderick isn't fit to Preston's dresser.
agree :-)
He isn't fit to dust Preston's dresser.
Hold on gang. It was just poor casting for that part. Broderick does a good job in other parts.
I mean, Preston WAS the actor to originate the role on Broadway, so of course he'd be the standard. And I agree, Broderick was really miscast. He's great in other roles, just not Professor Hill.
0:53 yo Patti LuPone Is my will to live she’s amazing
Nobody can beat Robert Preston. Period.
I can’t imagine how hard it must be for someone to memorise all the lyrics, and then perform them without stuttering or skipping a beat or tripping. On the words. That takes talent.
This sounds like a big famous group school project where each student tries to merge their best work together to see if everything flows smoothly overall
No one can touch Preston. But Tyne Daly gets my vote for first runner-up.
1:45 ... Oh we've got opportuni-tee right here in this communi-tee!
I’d love to see macfarlene replace hugh jackman in the upcoming revival
As long as it is Sutton Foster opposite them 😍
This was great--So fun! Tyne Daly is fantastic.
Is Tyne Daly the one on 0:44
@@rebeccawilson6314 Tyne Daly is at 1:01. There is a video of her full performance at ruclips.net/video/FIloHezpv3k/видео.html
Fun. More credits please, and lots more of Tyne Daly!
I think that Prestron and Lupone are the best at playing the intention to persuade. I'm really surprised that Patti is so good, I guess I shouldn't have been.
My favorites are Preston and MacFarlane. Forgive me since I don't know his name, but the guy in the tuxedo on the blue-walled stage seems more angry than persuasive.
Craig Bierko. He was incredible in the revival and got wonderful reviews.
I did this play in eighth grade and this brings back so many memories I want to cry
1:02 to 1:06
"You've got 1,2..."
"...3,4..."
"...5,6 pockets in the table"
That right there is some world class editing. 👈😉
Also, side note. Is that one of the Savage bros?
OMG! LOVED THIS!!! THANK YOU!
I almost choked when the ponies appeared
G4 referenced Music Man with Flim and Flam the town's ongoing con-artist stallions they got toys in the minifig collection. they were the bane of the Apple family.
I love this version mixing Music Man into the best version
Seth and Patti!!
Santino Fontana
This is wonderful
fantastic video. Thx
All this video does is prove what a subpar performance Matthew Broderick put in.
Yes!! Thank you! He's the worst Harold Hill!
He's not great, but I think he's just miscast.
He's a fine actor just a meh singer
Seth MacFarlane is a horrible singer actually.
@@MNBluestater no, the others who commented are talking about Matthew Broderick
You leave the house one day and you get surrounded by 13 salespeople. What a way to start the day.
Peter MacNicol was the surprise for me here, he was a little flat but was the only one besides Robert Preston that captured the conversational theme.
Patti LuPone will always be my favourite 😅
very creative!
I like Seth MacFarlane and Craig Bierko. I could imagine Seth as Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls.
I love this song XD
this is pretty cool
Santino Fontana!! I hope that entire video is on RUclips somewhere!
Matthew Broderick sounds so bored.
Ikr?
A bit of a pretty big miscast if I've ever seen one.
@@davidhoffman4641 He was cast because he had just come off doing the show on Broadway. He won a Tony and had all this praise for his performance as Hill on Broadway. I was so excited to see him do one of my favorite musicals after all the praise he'd been getting and got...that. I was so disappointed.
Seth MacFarlane is the best for me
Mathew rodrick and Seth macfarlane are the best part
yes that tuba playin drummajor
Patti LuPone
Seth mac. was the best
This was good until 1:45
Was that William Katt (Greatest American Hero)? If so, he was second only to Robert Preston, who of course was born for this role.
taking advantage of my brand i see
Who's singing at 0:44 and the woman at 1:01 (after Patti)
The woman at 1:01 is Tyne Daly but I don't know who the other person is
Preston owns this song….all the others are just feeble homages to Preston.
Should have been at least one nod to the Simpsons parody of the song.
Well Conan wrote the monorail episode
ace card coming down the track Buffalo Billiards...
Who's the singer after MacFarlane?
Craig Bierko
Thanks!
2:19???
You missed Julie Andrews and Sammy Davis Jr.
Such a weird song, a weird masterpiece of a song that overplaying it misses; like Bierko, Santino did, underplaying like Cagney or Lacey did and whatever broderick was aiming for. Patti, Seth McFarlane hit the sweet spot. But always a shadow because stage/recording/movie no matter Preston was the King
I can't sing this
Nostalgia boy Then don't. The trick to this song is that it's not really singing, it's more like talking at an accelerated rhythm. It's the memorization thats the challenge. Just keep practicing.
i was having a good time until my little pony. -_-
Who is 0:49???
It's Morgan Stevens in the series "Fame"
@@quasimodoworld473 thanks!
I don’t like Craig Bierko- he makes us too obvious that he doesn’t believe a word he’s saying- which is the opposite of how he should come off
Women as Harold Hill? Come on.
They're literally singing a song.
