Deuce, as for assigning Pal's to a task, be it the Breeding Farm, Mining, or something else, I believe you assign them to the Base, then pick them up and throw them at the "task". So you could assign a good Miner to the 2nd Base, pick them up, and throw them at the Mining Pit. You could assign the male and female Tombat to the 2nd Base, pick them up and throw them at the Breeding Pen...
That mercy ring really helps, catching all those pals gives you a lot more XP than just clobbering them! Excellent work with that gate, I did not think of doing that! It looks really cool! Barring trying out the legendary schematic drop glitch, I cannot bring myself to use the butcher knife. Usually i sell off my excess pals at the pal vendors in the small village, or Fisherman's village. The low tier stuff near where you start isn't worth much, but the mid game things can net some decent coin. Although, it looks like your ore mines are really paying off! being able to craft 1000 ingots was no small feat before! Again, thanks for sharing! =^^=
Word of warning: I've had fire effects kill a pal even though wearing the ring. I also have a fire pal with mercy hit which also killed something due to the fire effect... I'm not sure they've fixed it yet but it basically doesn't count burning damage as player damage...
