At first it didn't look like he would follow me at all, but by my example he, once again, gathered his courage. And of course, it was the death of him. He slipped on a plank and fell, and my screams followed him all the way down. Worse still, despite falling for perhaps 50 meters or more to his death, I could still sense his mind at the bottom. He was still alive, but barely. And I could do nothing but walk away. To make things even worse, the path was ultimately a dead end. When I came back, I couldn't sense Derrin's mind anymore. He had died in vain, because of my foolishness. I can never forgive myself.

Maybe a little off topic but I think this is a tiny, tiny glimpse into what I think games are gonna be in the future. We have games with good physics engines, like this, but its just an approximation. Its not real physics, its just meant to look like physics, as opposed to some sort of research software meant to be run on a supercomputer that really does simulate physics or chemistry on an incredibly granular level. I think eventually when we have way better computers, games will start to use those simulation tools. Imagine a game thats being rendered on an atomic level with a 1 to 1 simulation of the way physics and chemistry work in our own world. You would be able to do literally anything you could in the real world without the developers having to program that specific outcome. All they would have to worry about is making the simulation accurate. Physics in games could go from a couple puzzles that have you moving boxes to something that underlies and determines every single interaction with anything in the game world. Im probably way off but anyways thank you for attending my TedTalk.

If I made a game like this, (and I'm pretty damn sure I won't) I'd make it to where you'd take 300% fall damage, so every time you fall flat on your face, just a normal trip over something, you'd be three times more likely to die from it. It'd at least be nice to see someone die from falling on their fucking neck lol
Well, most of the time he actually doesn't fall. If you go too slow though, Derrin has too much time to think about the shitty life that's waiting for him outside, so he just "falls" through, so it works better if you just run through the whole bridge as quickly as possible.. What you can also do is use the same loose planks lying around, to build a little bridge over the hole. You can then walk overt that no problem.
