Everyone always likes to say “dude, reptiles can’t love you. They don’t have emotions”, but sometimes they do seem to bond in some sort of way, obviously depending on what kind, how often you interact with it, and how well you care for it. Raptor seems to like his owner, and is quite clearly at least comfortable with being very close with him. It doesn’t matter if they have what we understand as emotions, reptiles are smart and know when you’re a threat or someone who feeds and is gentle with them. I don’t like when people try to spoil reptile lovers’ joy of having really lovely interactions with their reptile. I had a leopard gecko, and he always always headed straight to my hand as soon as I put it in his tank to feed him, clean, and get him fresh water. He was always trying to climb on. And yeah, it could absolutely be just for the body heat I provide, but he noticeably never did the same to anyone else, no matter how calm and gentle they were. He didn’t look the smartest, I’ll tell you that, but he knew ME, and he was so comfortable with me, and enthusiastic about climbing onto me, that I felt a bit like he did actually like me 🥺
Kesha reminds me of Curits, also a Savannah Monitor Snuggle Monster. I had it's enclosure on the floor between the wall and my bed, so it was easy to just fence off that part of the room. Curtis would climb the bedsheets at night and sleep on my chest, despite having a substrate heater in one corner, a heat lamp in another, and cool zones in the other two corners. I miss him
