I just tried this about 5 minutes ago for the first time. They kindof remind me of pickled artichokes! This is definitely one of my favorite foods now, I absolutely love it
@Tom Lompa This is the definition of vegetable: Vegetables are the edible parts of a plant, such as the leaves, stem, roots, and bulbs. Fruits come from flowering plants with seeds. I would say it is a vegetable!
I found this most distressingly, researchers found that, from 1995 to 2015, the deforestation caused by the harvesting of products like hearts of palm has lead to the estimated loss of 100,000 orangutans in Borneo alone.
Mmmmm yummy 👎🏼 I found this most distressingly, researchers found that, from 1995 to 2015, the deforestation caused by the harvesting of products like hearts of palm has lead to the estimated loss of 100,000 orangutans in Borneo alone.
My daughter and I just tried hearts of palm right out of the can. They are delicious and can even be eaten on their own. I was very surprised and I will be adding it to my pantry from now on.

Any salad gets better with palmitos , they were so difficult to find in Australia , but once I did , I paid whatever I needed to have them 😂❤ lettuce, avocado and palmitos 👌😌 ( and directly from the can too )
closest comparison i can think of is bamboo shoots, but with a stronger flavor. its tangy and nutty, with a texture similar to bamboo shoots but less fibrous. the core of the heart of palm tastes the same but has a much softer texture. they're great, actual god tier low calorie snack.
It looks just like banana stem, which is also a high fiber food. If it tastes anything like it,then it's gonna be a watery and slightly salty taste. In essence, very healthy but tastes like nothing. In South India, people cook it with lentils and tamarind. p.s:don't eat if you have ibd/crohn's 😬

I make it in form of spaghetti and eat it with stir fried veggies and salmon or chicken. It has way lower calories than plaster. A serving size of hearts of palm has 20 calories.
Nope. Firstly, palm trees do not grow in the Amazon. Secondly (if you had paid attention), the palm trees that are grown to produce hearts of palm are sustainably farmed.
Have you ever tried hearts of palm? What did you think?
Awesome.
Wouldn't this be a fruit instead of a vegetable?

I want to now 🙏🥰😀.
I often use hearts of palm in my stir fry dishes; with a nice char on them, they taste and feel almost like scallops.
Thank you! Yes they do taste and feel almost like scallops, brilliant!

@@Steezy_Mx Get it from Brazil then. No Borneo there.
Ooh thank you for this video! I’m inspired to try this!
Love these right out of the can.
What does it taste like ...I would think an artichoke mixed with a potato would that be accurate ?
@@tammermashni8541similar to artichoke in flavour, more like a soft silicone fresh cold texture. Not potato
Wow! What to say! Absolutely brilliant. I am interested for the next one. Stay connected. 😍👍😋💚
I’m eating one now and it brought me here 😂
No you're not
really.. you should try the veggies from Ilocos Region in the Philippines.. So many varieties. 🤣👍👍

I don't think they really explained what they taste like. Just that they have a mild flavor. 🤔

The question remains. How does it taste like? question aint answered
Makes good Cole slaw
Do they taste or resemble celery??
I bought hearts of palm thin noodles! Thought it was rice noodles Has anyone ate them as a faux noodle????
Has ate? Geez!
I make it in form of spaghetti and eat it with stir fried veggies and salmon or chicken. It has way lower calories than plaster. A serving size of hearts of palm has 20 calories.
So you have to murder palm trees??
According to that logic, any vegetables you eat are being murdered. Just saying.
Heart of a tree? Arborists are crying 😂
Ahhh deforestating the amazon for this...

they are grown in Florida as well
