excellent receipe Chef I am Maharashtrian, and Raagi is called as NACHANI in marathi it is the fav food amongst rural and urban Marathis.we call the drink "AMBIL" we add garlic paste and butter milk and drink it cold.
Dear Chef, Wow! I made it and with every spoon I ate there came a Wow out of my mouth. Till the last one! I made my variation. Instead of rice I added cream of rice. I enjoyed it very much. Even the colour of ragi is such a nice colour. Thank you Chef! Mira
I was going to make roti from this flour I bought long time ago. But ragi mudde or porridge is so easy. I cooked it while watching the video and I am stuffing my mouth with millet porridge with yogurt sauce and some left of chicken curry/ I think I am going to mix some nuts in the left over for my desert. yummy and very easy
I have two kids. I never feed them cerelac or any store bought cereals . Only ragi . My mom used to grind ragi with dry fruits & cardamom for flavor & from the 3rd month onward only ragi malt in the evening around 3 pm , because digestion is slightly slow & also constpation is more for which you got to feed bananas for supper. It's a wonder food ! Try it
Hello Sanjay Garu, U r receipes are amazing and simple. I really thank you!!!!! You are a wonderful Chef.. Good show .. found Ragi on a trip to Africa called Finger Millet there and discovering it's health benefits. I am based in N.America so can you list an estimate of calories for a bowl of Ragi porridge ? Thanks, Jay
the one I bought is packed by Swad, and it say bajri flour and in english millet flour. The second one is by Udupi it say ragi flour and finger millet. So I suppose it is bajari in one of the indian dialect or launguage. We call it bajra, but I may be wrong. Either way very easy to cook and the taste blend in very well with sweet or sour.

Dear chef, Could you please answer my one question regarding use of Ragi? Is it ok to add a spoon or two of Ragi while cooking wheat flour chapatis? If yes, then does it need to be cooked for longer? Thanks
I'm a bachelor and stay single.... can i cook it in huge quantity, store it in fridge and consume some portion of it daily???? if so, how long it stays healthy in fridge???? pls respond....
Ragi is called 'Nachani' in Marathi and Konkani. It is not Bajari. In Goan recipes (Saraswat) we grind well soaked Ragi on stone grinder, then through a piece of muslin tied on a pot it is drained so that the roughage is sieved. Excess water is drained. Then it is mixed with Jaggery and coconut milk and cashew nuts. It is cooked on a slow flame till the mixture thickens. This thickened mixture is put in a greased thali. On cooling we cut it into 'Wadis'. We call it 'Nachani Satwa'.
thanks a lot. i never knew why mine was forming lump. now i understand to mix with water first and then add to the hot water. thanks a lot
Thank you! I'm going to add this Ragi Ambali (and the porridge!) to my breakfast as soon as I get the flour.
