Putting the pie in the microwave and then into the air fryer to crisp it up is equivalent to the reverse sear method for steak, very fancy 👌
I've had tonnes of them. Pretty good as far as frozen pies go. So are their standard ones.
I usually GET my pies from my local Vietnamese bakery! They do a GREAT range of pies. They clear them out at the end of the day for 2 trays for the price of 1, and I freeze them, & take 1 out for lunch now & then!

The ALDI potato pies are pretty good too.
I had the original Balfours potato top pie today for lunch. This week's special at Coles 1/2 price $3, two pack 👍🤤😀
These aren't bad and are good value. I cook them in the oven and often add mushy peas on top.
I really like these Aldi meat pies. Excellent value for money compared to other brands like Four n Twenty and Pattie’s.
And now Four n Twenty's owned by China.
They're all crap.
I want to convert an Ammo belt to hold Elmsbury Steak Pies, around 6 would do it, very useful if out on a pub crawl for a bit of sustenance between Ales.
Most of those things from Aldi are pretty good! Some ARE better than others tho! The frozen curries were always pretty darn good!

I always microwave then air fry and it never goes hard like that, but I do 3 mins mic and 2 mins at 180, you only need the air fryer to quickly crisp it up a little, think you double cooked it :P
The best retail pie I have had is a Vilis Pie, they even have a chilli cheese one with bite, no lips & aholes
100% agree, but they need a little more salt nowadays compared to 20yrs ago.

You reviewed the wrong one. The sous video one from Aldi (and the other 2pk like Chicken and Leek $4.99 for 2pcs)) is the one to try. Tastes just as good as the Herbert Adam ones.
I agree Greg tried the cheaper Aldi pies not as good. The 2 pack pies are better.
The aldi potato pies are good too they are like the Balfour's potato pies
I eat the Aldi potato pies they say they are with Angus beef I like them I have had the ms Mac plain and potato topped pies they are gross.

I travelled USA and even lived in Chicago at one point. Never saw a meat pie anywhere. Surprised it never caught on over there

When I buy aldi pies and cook from frozen i cook 1 pie per 3 mins in microwave and 7 mins in oven at 180c
Looks like it's mixed with chunks and mice beef. U need to try the jungle rum pies, full on loads of chunks in a great gravy, pricey but totally yummo!
I must admit, you can't get a decent meat pie here in America. I lived in New Zealand for nearly 30 years and it was meat pie heaven. And Lamingtons, custard squares, cheese scones, etc. Oh, and the fresh seafood as well. WAAAAH...😪

It's 3 minutes on mince meat 'Defrost', then 4-5 minutes airfry. Wrap the pie entirely in the paper towel otherwise the moisture in the pasty will evaporate. Yes the Coles pie is better.
Try Garlo's chunky beef pies, those are good. You can get them from Coles
The normal pies you get from Aldi are the only ones I can microwave and eat without sauce but add sauce and even better mmmm

That microwave thing was how my aunt did a hotdog in a bun.You ate it pretty soon so the bread didn't go tough.
Micro then under grill both sides to get rid of microwave moisture and it crisps up...under 1$ a pie 🥇 winner...

Fergusson Plaire. I buy their pies as a " party pack". I also get their pasties that they call "Tiddly Oggies" The pastry is thin and the filling is far more than a frozen pie or the favourite FourNTwenty. As a kid, Nana would buy from Fergies. In 1976 my girlfriend's family loved Plaire. Later the bakehouses combined and we got on with making babies..

I don't mind these Pies for the price, what I usually do with them is lift up the top and put a slice of cheese on it then back in the Air Fryer

just about everything i buy from aldi is actually australian made - and thats without looking for aussie made products

coles 4 pack pies are great too but did you know coles 6 pack are different to the coles 4 pack pies 🥧, what?!! you think they would be the same
25 mins sounds a bit excessive. i just do them in the same airfryer, but i do 10 minutes upside down first which gives it more surface area to heat all the innards through first, and reduces the heating time needed, then i flip it over and do 5 mins right side up to crispy the top. air fryers. one of those inventions we wish had been around 30 years ago. dont know how i lived without one to be honest. a wasted life.

The pastry isn’t flaky and buttery because there is no butter in it.
Just nasty margarine with palm oil (the trans fat laden heart stopper).
I think the best frozen pies are Garlos, followed by Sargeants. 👍

Ahh the method of genius here GregO and you've been listening - so much better than 20-25 in the air on a restrictive timeframe IMO but doesn't appear to have improved on the method of normality!!! A refreshing healthy meal in 8 mins innit. These were a fortnightly addition in the Aldi shop but this week the mini me requested we try the 'Classic' in this range which is a bit cheaper but reducing the eyeball and anus star rating down from 3 stars to 2.5 so it'll be interesting to see how they deliver. Might have to try the generic Coles one you recommenda but will see how the bargain basement Aldi ones go... Cheers Gibbo
The Aldi pies with the potato on top are the ones to get they are good, however when I had the aldi chunky beef pies they had ground up bits of bone in the meat....bloody awful a complete opposite compared to the potato pies!
