Hyde's so humble and very polite even though he is a big name in Japanese music scene... Even after an almost 30 years of his LEC career he still maintains that bubbly personality. He is just so lovable.
Rob is such an incredible interviewer. I've seen him interview Taka several times. He's so attentive and respectful and doesn't really ask super generic questions. Even when Hyde was speaking in Japanese, he still looked incredibly interested in what he was saying, kept his eyes focused on him, and even nodded his head even when he didn't understand what he was saying. And the fact that he's here introducing Japanese artists like HYDE, who has been in the industry since 1988, to an American audience is a gift. HYDE and L'Arc〜en〜Ciel seriously need to get some recognition here too. Especially since HYDE himself, so humbly said he can't reach the level of OOR even though he's been in the business longer than them (and in my mind, are still quite popular) really shows what type of person he is. He's an incredible talent. Hoping to see that OOR x HYDE or L'Arc〜en〜Ciel collab soon!
@@360larataro6 Yes, he is just a person. But the point is Hyde is an extremely successful artist (particularly in Japan w the bands he's in, L'Arc~en~ciel & VAMPS). It is funny to hear people mention him like "starting to build a fan base" but yet he already has one, and he's already an established artist (In Japan, a very large fanbase, in U.S./other countries, a smaller fanbase).
@@360larataro6 have you listened to any of his music at all? I recommend listening to the songs "hitomi no jyuunin" or "everlasting" by L'arc~en~ciel. he is more than just a good looking person like you say.
Taka has expressed many times that he is only collaborating with artists with different nationalities/culture, supposed to be able to learn different things from different perspectives. He said that he is not into collaborating with Japanese artists (at least in their albums, minus Skyfall), as there won't be much of an 'excitement' for him, because the vibe will be mutuals and there won't be much of surprises. For him there should be exploring unexplored areas, I think that's why it's very unlikely. Considering ONE OK ROCK has always been stressing that there isn't much time for them before they retire as a band, I think they will spend that 'little time' collaborating with artists of different nationalities/ culture.
i'm so happy to see a more in-depth kind of interview from an English speaker! thank you for an awesome job! Watching you gush about One Ok Rock is a bonus.
Great interview! its highly informative on Hyde's journey while doing his US tour and the difference being in VAMPS & doing solo work. OMG when he does wacky faces while the translator is talking cracked me up. You never disappoint haido! keep being the legend that you are. 😂
well.. if I allow to be honest.. its L'Arc en Ciel that paved the way for OOR and other junior rock band of LEC.. not sound show off or anything.. but it is a fact that the music produced by LEC from very beginning already like a song for the future.. like I mean, they sound so relevance even for now.. its easy to digest and enjoy their old musics.. that what set apart LEC since the very beginning.. the time when visual kei so hype then, yet LEC pursue new cool type and THEY DID IT! his junior have so many opportunities because a band like LEC and also anime getting so much demand nowadays.. back then we are just little community of otakus and JRock enthusiast.. but now? language really not a barrier for music enthusiast.. so, not discrediting anyones.. but I really adore how HYDE and members of LEC really humble and they've staying together so long almost 30 years because they keep their original mind set and keep humble. for them they are not a legend.. for them they are not paving the way.. but truly Japan music enthusiast already aware they are everything about legend. you could named as legend band when pass many years and still together like old days. The great things about LEC, they are consist of artists members.. they all went solo and success in their own genre/field.. they happy making each project.. and when they comeback as LEC they make it unforgettable to themself and Le Ciel. What a legend they truly are.
LEC is a legend.. their musics are still relevant to these days and yes i really agree that the members are very humble. They are so kind to their fans too. As a fan, i sometimes write comments on their twitter and youtube account just to show them how i love the song, how i feel about the song, and how their music inspires and helps me in my real life. I kind of think Hyde saying he's not good enough to collaborate with ONE OK ROCK is a subtle way of rejecting the idea of the collaboration. He certainly can't just come out and say no even if that's what he feels. It'd most likely be offensive and earn him A LOT of hate or ire from fans. His facial expressions gave him away real quick at the moment he was asked about it then told Rob wanted to bring it up to OOR himself. Those were nervous and uncomfortable, not excited and hopeful. He even looked kind of terrified at that last part. Plus the anxious fidgeting.
Not terrified. I just kind of got the vibe of "Are you for real" when Rob completely missed the subtle turn down and took it for face value. Yeah, I definitely think that it was a subtle turn down (the it's me not you kind of thing), and you know- I think Taka would understand if Rob ever mentioned that to him too. After all, I'm sure they both know how interviews tend to go. If they were actually interested in a collab, it would have already happened. That being said, I do think OOR fits US pretty well. People tend to be more outspoken there anyways.

Honestly, I've been a fan of Hyde for quite a few years--not overbearingly so, I just listen to his music, I don't normally see his interviews--but I'm surprised that with the amount of songs he's released in English, he doesn't know the language that much. The point I'm trying to make is that you can barely hear the accent in his voice within his music that I actually thought he could speak the language without needing much help from a translator. Lol Regardless, the man is a genius and has never lost touch with what being an artist really means. The 'music' nowadays is...and I say this with vehement true disgust--trash (at least in the U.S.).
