What a great teacher. What an experienced artist. And the most incredible advice which is hard to apply, not to blend at all is the right way for results like this amazing painting here. Thank you very much Mark.

This actually helped me. I have a bad habit of blending and "licking" the canvas to death. I have to stop. This gave me confidence to knock it off and just let it be. Excellent and helpful video as usual.

I used to paint billboards;doing pictorial or photo reference work with oils. One of my mentors at the company taught me this approach; dark values first;very minimal blending if at all; and lighter values/colors were always after the darks. So awesome to see this! I miss the painting; but don’t miss the heights I had to work at. Great video! Thank you!

I started painting a few years ago. Mark's videos have been a major reference for material, technique and method. I love how he takes something that I never though I could do and disassembles it to logical steps and methods that result in a painting nearly right out of the gate. This teacher and artist is just amazing.
