We have an easyrig we use with Ursa minis…. But what you showed is that the flaws with the cheap one can all be fixed for under $100… better padding… swapping bolts and using a stronger wire/rope… you can even add a z-axis for 300 and still be cheaper than the other… we may get a cheap one for second rig and modify it to make it pro…. CrimsonEngine has made some mods for his C500… so can be done…. Thanks for this…
Sure but then you need to count in the time you spent doing that. That's time could be spent doing work or call clients. 100$ material 2 hours buying material 300$ 4 hours modding the rig 600$ And you still need to trust an expensive rig with you cheep rig. I also have my Easyrig out for rental, and have got my money back. I doubt anyone would want to rent the cheep rig.
@@Kim_Alexander good thing you only do it once and a weekend in the workshop is play time … I can’t keep billing my clients for gear I can source cheaper or hack especially in the times we living in now. As vendors we we have been spoiled with awesome gear… gear is released everyday when the 5 years ago equipment still works just fine. We pretend we don’t have the time when we have just watched x3 20minutes RUclips videos about the same product…(that’s 1hr of free time)
Oh don’t forget while on RUclips we are still paying subscriptions on apps on phone and tablets and plugins we ain’t using which I’m sure can add up to the hundred can be paused for a month…
@@alltj I had that idea as well to mod the cheep rig and see how good I could be. But ended up getting an Easyrig instead. It made more sense for me. Because it's a thing that will be with me for many years and it also makes sure that I can do what I do as I get older without damaging my body. And as mentioned before the rental part will generate an income overtime. If remember correctly the arm of the cheep rig was to short so I had to bend my back in an uncomfortable way. You have a very solid point with that old gear, I'm working on some "old is gold" content and are using some old cameras by my self. It's not so much about the equipment it's what you do with it . For an example a 10 years old fuji X-pro1 makes better black and whites than the new X-pro3 . But in a work situation I get more images that are in focus on a shorter amount of time with a new camera with eye tracking, just recently changed out a 5D mark iv for a new Sony. And that camera saves a lot of time on location and in the post production. Mostly because most images are in focus we are talking around 2 hours on every job. When I make gear related decitions they are based on how big impact it has on the cost and impacts on production. Privately decisions are made based on feelings. CrimsonEngine seams to be a cool Chanel, going to check out that more :)
@@alltj yo, I'm a bit saw you use it on with the ursa mini can I ask what easyrig you use with it? Scared about getting the minimax and it not holding it
EXCELLENT COMPARISON VIDEO, MAN. Will subscribe. Hopefully EASY-RIG will give you a BIG discount...or just out and out let you have one. I was about to pull the trigger on a cheaper one. Crimson Engine made a sub $300 look "workable". BUT... as an older guy--'think this is better for me. Goof Luck... Keep up the thorough work...
Really helpful review. Thanks very much, mate!
Thank you for this detailed review
I'm here for the Sheep!

Good share. Thanks!!! : )
Another "review" without any footage.
Footage is secondary in this case since main purpose is to hold the camera
