I'm really glad I found this. I'm sharing it with my discord for myself and other small streamers to watch. Dan is good for twitch. Changes can be tough but he's honest and transparent and he likes the ecosystem.

Enjoyable watch. As a streamer it makes me feel positive about the future of Twitch. Also, exciting to have a musician at the helm as that mostly untapped side of Twitch has monstorous potential. Here's hoping that arm of the ecosystem gets spared the serious thought it deserves.

Haven't finished it yet but I'm surprised by how good these interview questions are going! You're great at keeping the conversation going, very reminiscent of Colin and Samir but with your own charm.
Keep this stuff up! You for sure have a career here
Edit: The fact this podcast is tied to some kind of debit card product is a little weird tbh, I wish I was supporting just an individual podcast creator 😅

      Awww appreciate it!!
And yes I’m also cofounder of a company helping creators w their finances- it’s the other side of what I do - but doesn’t affect the convos I get to have here on the pod 🥰

I don't think it's fair for Clancy to point out that RUclips live streams are "just a bunch of people yelling". There are plenty of great communities that have formed and had been built on RUclips. A good friend of mine, TheJoshFeed, averaged 60 ccv on Twitch for, more or less, 6 years. He then moved over to RUclips to do livestreams solely there, and in the span of a year, he grew from averaging 30 ccv to 500 ccv, and his COMMUNITY is thriving on RUclips livestreams now. He averages more viewership for his streams than content creators on RUclips who have hundreds of thousands of subscribers.
That being said, I think the other points Dan made were totally fair in regards to metrics, partnership, and understanding what separates Twitch from other platforms.

Dan talking about how you pull up a chair for an hour and stay engaged with the streamer the whole time misses a huge (probably the majority) segment of users who have multiple streams open at the same time or have streams on in the background while they work or whatever. The policy preventing viewers from counting for secondary/nonactive tabs is a manifestation of this misunderstanding.

When he talks about usernames. I remember using the crappy SinisterKiller. Which over time evolved into SinisterIsRandom. Which most dont have but also cause im very random and i got a evil laugh that you'd expect from a villian.
