How To Make a Salad Bar For Chickens (And make egg yolks bright orange)

Sometimes chickens have a difficult time eating greens dumped on the coop floor. ‪@projecttreecollard‬ shows how a homemade "salad bar" can be made for chickens and other birds to easily peck and consume more greens in a more efficient manner. Tree Collards are an easy to grow perennial vegetable that all poultry love to eat. A diet heavy in greens will turn egg yolks a deep orange color and most likely improves the nutritional content of the eggs. Feeding chickens an abundance of greens also saves money because the birds need less poultry food.
Tree collards (Brassica oleracea var. acephala) are members of the brassica family. They are also known as Tree Kale or Tree Cabbage. Their relatives include traditional collards, kale, broccoli, cabbage, brussels sprouts, kohlrabi, and cauliflower. However, unlike most of its relatives, tree collards are perennial. This means that, like a fruit tree or rose bush, they will continue to grow and produce year after year and without the need for planting new seeds or seedlings every year like traditional collards and kale. Tree collards are hardy to about 20° F (-7° c) and in mild climates have been known to live for up to twenty years! They are closely related to other perennial collard varieties grown in Mediterranean, Africa, the Americas, and other countries.
Tree collards are one of the easiest vegetables to grow in a home garden. For very little input they can provide an abundance of greens all year round. A fast growing relative of collards and kale, some varieties can grow up to eight feet in height in a few years.

Is there a way to source tree collards in Australia? Seems difficult to find and I note your business does not send to Australia (bio-security).

I do ship to Australia but the govt sometimes takes them. It seems about 50/50% of gettting to you.... Paul DiCaterina @paulysdowntoearthgardens2512 has seeds for sale direct from Australia!

I ordered purple tree collard seeds from you last year and I am starting about 15 right now. I started them on 2/19/22 and about a week later I have almost 100% germination rate.
I really want an actual purple tree collard plant and wonder how possible is it that I actually get one from the seeds. I'll probably just order a plant from you.
