I completely gave up on the line after I bought soundwave. It’s sad becuase marvel legends, classified, ghostbusters, gundam universe, lightning collection; every other line has really good action figures but then transformers just fails at every turn.
I think that the biggest issue with the "gummy" plastic in the joints is that the arms might just twist off. I don't remember which figure I had this happen to but it had similar soft plastic joints which ultimately snapped due to their elastic property
Credit where it's due - the RED TFP figures so far all _look_ incredible, the proportions on Megatron and Arcee and ESPECIALLY Knockout are markedly better than their transforming counterparts, but the materials used, subpar articulation and ABUNDANCE of missing paint apps really drag them down. Optimus is the only one that feels to me just a touch off in the proportions department, but otherwise looks good enough, at least moreso than the initial promotional images of him.
It's a bath toy! LOL. When heating the plastic, quickly put it under cold water when it's the shape you want, this shocks the molecules into place (a bit like quenching steel) and should stay in place. The cause of all the problems is the production technique they chose since he's a very bulky figure, to save plastic (cost) they are using PVC plastic and rotocasting so he's hollow and soft. The Cobra figure on the other hand is dimensionally much smaller so they used the more expensive process of injection moulding with ABS plastic so it's solid and harder allowing for better posability as there is no elasticity from PVC and hollowness from rotocasting. Use silicone oil on all the sticky and stiff joints, it will free them up. Good luck painting PVC!! Make sure you use an acrylic primer first even with it you'll have a difficult time trying to get the paint to cure, it usually stays tacky because of the oils in the PVC.
If I use the hot/cold water trick is it going to damage the figure? Or is it going to make the joints stronger making him more poseable or is it just that he then stays in one position only and I wonn't be able to change it after?
@@themastrelmatadordelmar544 The water trick is for the bent sword blade not the joints. For joints you can use clear acrylic paint or floor polish on PVC safely.

megatron is my favorite character out of all the transformers in the franchise, Its sad to see how little effort they put into such a BIG character. Thanks for being honest, great review. keep up the good work!
Gotta love the red line. They make one okay move in knockout and prime prime and then immediately do a backflip off of a cliff. Glad I alt f4ed out of collecting these guys after that god awful Cheetor.
This actually just makes me really sad. This is MY megatron, it’s the one I grew up with and he’s not had any really great figures. Such a great shame. I just want one good prime megatron to put on my shelves. It shouldn’t be that impossible, right?
I'm curious if I 3d scan this figure clean the sculpt and print it completely out of resin, this figure might actually be awesome. The PRIME designs are notorious for being an articulated nightmare in toyform. Basically the models in the show are manipulated to the point where the sculpt clips through the model itself. There are many instances of this in the show, APC toys did it the best but the overall proportions aren't accurate at all. So just seeing the minimal posebility of this guy is fine for me.

I may not agree with all of your opinions, such as on the Jurassic Park mash-up, but I respect that you are an actual human being, and as such will have at least SOME differing opinions. I will continue to watch and hopefully we agree on most of the figures you review.
RED suffers because it’s super easy for Hasbro to make an action figure of a normal bipedal Man. Power rangers, marvel legends, GIJOE, etc. some designer has to take each transformer design. Try and give it all of this laundry list articulation. THEN squeeze the materials, paint, and sculpt within a $20 budget. A massive miss for a toyline.
What would you want to see in a Legacy CHUBified Prime Megatron? Personally, I want him to be at least voyager sized, with a design that takes heavy inspiration from his Prime original design, but with a slightly blockier aesthetic. Overall the same face design, simplified shoulders, rounded torso, spaceship alt mode, canon with retractable blade. New mold, NOT the Netflix Megatron mold retooled
Let me just say, I get it! They dont want kids stabbing themselves/others with a super spiky Megatron, BUT, the cheap rubbery stuff is prone to damage from even tiny amounts of heat or light, completely making them change colors, and looking awful, plus, you can twist that stuff to breakage and not even realize until it's too late. Thats just Hasbro being cheap! They give us THIS, when what we WANT, is another release of the FE Prime figures. Hell, I'd buy 6 of these if I could mail in for a free FE figure. (with proof of purchase 😂) absolutely disappointed.
To think the budget for this figure could've gone into something else, like SS Sideways having ankle swivel joints for example. The R.E.D. line should just be abolished, it has been awful.
That dosent make any sense, if the red line didnt exist that wouldn't make ss suddenly have more budget. they are completely separate entities, Studio series dosent lose anything for the red line to exist.
I HATE soft gummy figures like this. Some Marvel Legends figures are like it and it makes them awful to pose, stand or play around with. Constantly flopping under their own weight. They also feel delicate to pose too much as sometimes trying to twist gummy plastic makes it tear and break.
I have to ask prime vs prime, out of the transformers prime red lineup besides megatron obviously which one would you recommend picking up? My local walmart will be getting optimus soon, but till then, they have knockout and arcee.

I have the Prime Arcee and Knockout from this line but I totally missed Optimus and Megatron and I wish I had not missed them but damn if my nearby Walmart's don't actually stock the R.E.D figures anymore.
I remember getting gifted the red arcee and not even 2 days of having it her joints was not only loose as can be but they literally with ease come out of one and other like the red line is far from bad but there is the bad for sure in that line now if u want a good red figure red Soundwave is awsome .
This line must bring up characters like Autobot X, Crocodile Optimus Prime and TFPrime Insecticon. Characters with skipped/non canonical transformations but with an excelent robot design. What a shame.
This figure is awful but is the blast effect compatibility with main line figures? If so if I found him on clearance I’d get him to give my Galvatron the blast effect.
I think the TF Prime line of transforming figures was so awesome and close-to-show that putting them in this non-transforming line is embarrassingly unnecessary.
I agree, I just don't get these non transforming figures. They're called TRANSFORMERS! these are horrible, cheap, badly painted, weak rubber dolls. Hasbro need to bin this line for good
I can really agree with you on standing the toys up it can really be annoying, also I wish some dinobot and fossilizer toys could move their heads left the right instead of up and down
In terms of quality and price dilemma if everyone would boycott them till prices match quality I guarantee they’d respond to such constant issues coming out the lab
I was looking at this exact model being sold for 100 dollars. I was considering it cause I love tfp Megaton but now I shall take my money elsewhere lol.
It doesn't look that bad I really like the purple and color around his body because purple is the perfect color for evil no offense and what did you find that Megatron I definitely want one as well and it looks really big I could tell
I don’t think it was that harsh at all. I mean, false advertisement, rubbery materials in the wrong areas, No over-the-top articulation (this line should really prioritize that), and the lack of stability make this thing what it is (in other words, garbage). Again, I’ve never been a fan of TFP. And I’ve noticed the downward spiral in Hasbro’s quality control in terms of materials, especially since my WFC Earthrise Wheeljack is really starting to yellow out. Hopefully Hasbro can eventually resolve this issue with poor quality control nowadays.
Got my hands on one finally got it in mail. You said you couldn’t fix the warped blade I believe? I just fixed it. I heated it really good with blow dryer then ran under water once had straightened it out, then I left in in my freezer a few minutes like 2-3min and took it out it’s been 20 minutes since I removed it from the freezer and it’s still straight
I'm confused. I can go onto Hasbro Pulse right now and buy a Prime Hades Megatron, which looks better, has more accessories, and can transform. What is the point of this R.E.D. release?
I've said many times, RED needs to be cheaper or step up the quality. Easily the worst 6" line at retail atm and for a couple dollars more you can have an actual deluxe Transformer.
Honestly I think the whole redline is trash I only got the Arcee and knockout because they look perfect I don’t bother touching them or playing with them they just stand there and look good, they feel terrible
I consider all the RED Figures a waste of money and shouldn't be even called Transformers being they don't transform same goes for the Cyberverse Scout class which only partially transform.
Honestly i think that yes Red needs a do over. I have honestly liked the idea of Red figures super possible and has alot of accessories. But what we have gotten is honestly kinda 💩. Look ill pay 30 for it if it looks feels and has great accessories. But Hasbro has to show for the price range.
@@iamerikr Saddest part for me however is that I'm the only person that liked the Prime version of Wheeljack because G1 fans wanted him to look act his nerdy doctor-self. God makes me glad I preferred the cool stuff in the 80's Japan has than what the US has.
RED vs. Classified. Both Hasbro figures. Both IPs that they wholly own (no licensing fees). Non-transforming. Paint/tampo seems higher on Classified than RED. Size is/can be bigger on RED, and sculpts are unique/very little re-use ... those are the biggest differences when it comes to the nickels and dimes. Sigh. This is a bean counter somewhere cutting corners and keeping the budget low... I feel bad for the RED designers who must have a lot of constraints; they'd probably want to use stiffer plastic and more parts count/deco ops if they could get away with it.
At this point I would prefer if Hasbro would just outsource this line to Bandai or let Flame Toys design for this line, especially if the paint problem counties like it is. At least model kits disclose that the product shots have been enhanced with paint unlike R.E.D
What about the APC toys Dark Saber that came with their Megatron? The funny thing is this RED Megatron reminds me of the original Hasbro Voyager Prime Megatron. Zero paint and the plastic was the same color. Add the awful fusion canon gimmick. Ugh. APC Toys have truly spoiled us.
We really need a masterpiece line for prime, I don’t like g1 or the movies enough to spend that kind of money but I would for prime, I would even take a high quality third party line that isn’t just re-sized figures that are over a decade old
I got the RED Coronation Starscream and have been quite disappointed. Especially now that they have a transforming version of it. I doubt I’ll ever get a RED figure again. There just doesn’t seem to be an upside to this line. If I’m going to sacrifice transforming it the toy better be absolutely phenomenal otherwise, and these just aren’t.
Both incarnations of Megatron in the R.E.D line are absolutely trash, honestly. Just got R.E.D TFP Megs yesterday and yeah he just doesn't feel so good. He is so floppy, can't pose much and absolutely pain getting those rubbery panels to not be warped. I do like the packaging design though. These R.E.D figures remind me of those flea market non-transforming Transformers knockoff figures.
This incarnation of Megatron DESERVED a better figure than this. As it is, for official offerings, the Deluxe figure that came with Deluxe Optimus is still the best Prime Megatron toy for me.
I can't understand why Hasbro using soft material for RED figures. RED series coulde be good toy line, but we have Primal and TFP Megatron with gummy-like legs.
The fact that people are complaining about Megatron's design in Prime is making me wanna hate G1 even more now lol. besides the only good things I liked about G1 were the Dinobots,Predacons,The movie's music,Micromasters, and Pretenders lmao.
Yeah I never really liked the RED line because while yes they are accurate looking, they look very cheap, gummy looking material and have sub par articulation
Does the figures articulation and material suck? Yes. Am I still going to buy it? Yes because I'm a complete and total tfp mark. Non-transforming transformers have never bothered me and the legacy figures are just failing the tfp designs, yes Knockout is the best but it still just doesn't hit right, so I just can't help but buy these RED figures. I'll probably regret it later but for now I'll just have these things sitting on the shelf staring at each other since the articulation is so screwed up. Idk it's just so strange that the RED line had it's crown jewel in Knockout and it's royal turd in Megatron in the same year, wtf happened Hasbro?
RED was a good idea, sadly its implementation is bad, there's not scale, no qc, bad materials. The RED line should stop to exist, its resources are better spend elsewhere, at least that's my opinion given what I've seen with this line..

What really hurts this is that they really did think of Megatron's alt mode as an afterthought.
I agree! We need a proper TFP transformable line!
@@PrimeVsPrime yes, i would buy nearly everything
I have the Prime Arcee and Knockout from this line but I totally missed Optimus and Megatron and I wish I had not missed them but damn if my nearby Walmart's don't actually stock the R.E.D figures anymore.
Yah it's kinda dumb. You also have to keep In mind scalpers
time to dig out the airbrush and let rip then paint it
But paint is the least of its issues.
Painting might make it look better but sadly the poor materials will never go away :(
I remember getting gifted the red arcee and not even 2 days of having it her joints was not only loose as can be but they literally with ease come out of one and other like the red line is far from bad but there is the bad for sure in that line now if u want a good red figure red Soundwave is awsome .
Me: starting the video with every pic shown Megatron being Decapitated.
Also me: I know where this is heading
Ok so if theres no window to see the figure in the box, and the artwork and product shots are inaccurate…. Can that be considered false advertising?
This line must bring up characters like Autobot X, Crocodile Optimus Prime and TFPrime Insecticon. Characters with skipped/non canonical transformations but with an excelent robot design. What a shame.
They will probably come out with a “premium finish” version of this figure and charge $50
Haha I wouldn’t put it past them but I don’t think anyone would buy it lol
A shame.
Prime could have saved the RED line, but if this is the quality being put out, it will be the line's death knell instead.
This could have been a happy meal toy
Very true lol!
Prime vs prime gets a new figure and reviews it
The figure:Now it’s my time to shine
Haha or in this case not to shine 😂
This figure is awful but is the blast effect compatibility with main line figures? If so if I found him on clearance I’d get him to give my Galvatron the blast effect.
I think the TF Prime line of transforming figures was so awesome and close-to-show that putting them in this non-transforming line is embarrassingly unnecessary.
I agree, I just don't get these non transforming figures. They're called TRANSFORMERS! these are horrible, cheap, badly painted, weak rubber dolls. Hasbro need to bin this line for good
Much better to have new transformable tfp figures instead..
@@revampedrenegotiate agreed
@@revampedrenegotiate And then what?? make them look like shitty G1 counterparts?? yeah right.
My local store that sells the RED figures only has the RED Arcee, Optimus Primal, and Reformating Megatron, but no new waves
Available yesterday here in PHILIPPINES WHERE THE PRICES GOT SOOOOO HIGH... WE WERE SHOCKED ALL OVER THE TF COMMUNITY HERE
I can really agree with you on standing the toys up it can really be annoying, also I wish some dinobot and fossilizer toys could move their heads left the right instead of up and down
The materials need to be pliable so that you Do Not hurt yourself while handling the figure. Safety comes first.
Shame. This would have been my number one reason to start RED.
I love this character design.
Accessories are crap too.
Honestly you shouldn't have to do that to begin with. Hasbro should make things with quality
I'm confused. I can go onto Hasbro Pulse right now and buy a Prime Hades Megatron, which looks better, has more accessories, and can transform. What is the point of this R.E.D. release?
Exactly haha the Hades version is sooo much nicer
I believe you can still get the 10th anniversary prime megatron for 34 on pulse? Is there a size comparison between those two?
I've said many times, RED needs to be cheaper or step up the quality. Easily the worst 6" line at retail atm and for a couple dollars more you can have an actual deluxe Transformer.
All the death scenes at the beginning have me in TEARS 😭 YOU DID *NOT* HAVE TO MURDER HIM LIKE THAT 🤣
Haha now for the fire 😈 🔥
Honestly I think the whole redline is trash
I only got the Arcee and knockout because they look perfect I don’t bother touching them or playing with them they just stand there and look good, they feel terrible
Yeah it’s a shame! Sculpt wise these are awesome but material wise they’re rubbish
I consider all the RED Figures a waste of money and shouldn't be even called Transformers being they don't transform same goes for the Cyberverse Scout class which only partially transform.
Fair enough man!
Your consideration is shit.
Megatron was huge in the show - WAY bigger than Prime
You like mean taller than him?
@@monster-mecha_enthusiast_2002 taller and bigger
@@iamerikr Saddest part for me however is that I'm the only person that liked the Prime version of Wheeljack because G1 fans wanted him to look act his nerdy doctor-self.
God makes me glad I preferred the cool stuff in the 80's Japan has than what the US has.
@@monster-mecha_enthusiast_2002 make that two of us! I loved Wheeljack in TFP!!
RED vs.
Imo this figure looks GREAT! I love the violet highlights, but no joke, i don't like this "Cheap" grey
3 months, I just ordered mine from Pulse today. Hopefully it’s a little better. We’ll see.
I absolutely agree! Definitely very “knock off” esque in design
You could've just said G1 Megatron is trash because his voice was so annoying but oh well lol.
Happy Meal toys have more durability
> This is TRASH
This is like the Premium Finish Megatron all over again, Goddammit Hasbro
Anyone else notice portions of the grey plastic are already starting to yellow??
This incarnation of Megatron DESERVED a better figure than this. As it is, for official offerings, the Deluxe figure that came with Deluxe Optimus is still the best Prime Megatron toy for me.
I can't understand why Hasbro using soft material for RED figures. RED series coulde be good toy line, but we have Primal and TFP Megatron with gummy-like legs.
Now I see why they got rid of the clear window lol 😂
He got some Italian hand gestures. XD
With megatron's head being off in most of the glamour shots, I could guess the views of this review😂
Sadly not positive haha
Transformers red is still terrible; who would’ve guessed?
These figures are just way too basic, increase the articulation massively and improve the paint and they could have something.
Yeah I wouldn't mind paying a bit more if it meant the figure was actually GOOD.
Hopefully Transformers Legacy can give us a leader class version of Megatron. I haven’t heard of RED so I wasn’t sold on picking any figure
RED was a good idea, sadly its implementation is bad, there's not scale, no qc, bad materials. The RED line should stop to exist, its resources are better spend elsewhere, at least that's my opinion given what I've seen with this line..
I ageee - they could scrap this line entirely & give the budget to the mainline
The beggining:
Gore act to Megatron
Haha yes lool! FATALITY!
10:41 relaxed hand? Nahhh these are the MAMA MIAAAA HANDS🇮🇹🇮🇹
