@@Vmobro Have you ever heard them speak? Putting on a deep voice doesn’t mean you naturally have a deep voice. Taehyung always sings in a high pitched voice, but his voice is normal when he talks, same with Jimin and Jin.
@@riom.6091 Taehyung might not naturally have a deep voice but in contrast to the other members his voice is noticeably deeper than theirs (and he mostly sings in his deep voice)

imagine thinking that bts became popular right away. bts struggled for years before even getting noticed in their own country. they were prevented from performing or cut out of broadcasts because their company was poor. i'm proud of them because they overcame those struggles and are honest about how they manage their popularity today.
Every time someone talks about what they first were when they started off, I think of when the maknae line was going around, handing out flyers for their concert, saying that it was free... it's just so amazing how far they've come, and the amount of records they've broken

@@talala._. i would say that that isn't true either. they started as a group in 2013 and had performances in the us in 2014. their first success on billboard was in 2016. slow rise not instant success.
@@talala._. I agree with @cysounds. They already had an established international fanbase. And a large one at that before they really breached the US markets. It wasn't sudden. The I-ARMY was accumulating years before their first Billboard award. I think it only seemed sudden because of the media attention the award got and the correlating increase in the fanbase as they directed more of their product to the US markets instead of the general international market (BH also hired a person specifically to help them target the US market).
The fans were already there and so was the product, it just wasn't noticeable until after they became really huge.

BTS are so big because they are relatable. They write about social problems, mental health, self doubt, toxic relationships, self love, astrology, and so much more. They connect with their fans and help us heal and feel loved and safe and like we are friends with them, even though we’ve never met them. They’re also, like, really weird. I love that about them.

8:53 I know there are great Korean artists who have come to the USA previously and not gained as much attention but BTS didn't just pop out of nowhere even if it seems like it to most people. They've been visiting the US for years and worked hard slowly building up an international fanbase. They came to Kcon LA back in 2014, came with the Red Bullet tour in 2015, returned for Kcon 2016 and again for their Wings tour the start of 2017 before they got invited to the BBMA's/AMA's and really started to blow up in western mainstream media over the last couple of years. One of the reasons they're doing so well and breaking these records is because they've built up such a dedicated fanbase over time.

BTS didn't just so happen to make it in the US market, they actually weren't even trying to enter the market, it was just something that happened as a result of their global fame. They didn't promote here, make an english song, nothing, they just accumulated so many fans in the US that their albums just started showing up on BB200, Hot100, etc. due to the sheer volume being purchased or listened to by domestic fans. BTS was always more popular globally than in Korea, global fans caught on and grew with the korean base and propelled BTS into the fame you see today. Their global fame made korea take a pause and finally start appreciating them properly. BTS is an enigma - I don't see another group capable of overtaking them yet.
I like how you said 'yet', because of BTS I'm sure kpop in general have became more known so maybe we will see new/rookie groups being able to achieve as much or more!

Emily, BTS didn’t break records the first year they entered the US market. In fact, the first time they entered the US market it was with their album HYYH Pt. 2 in 2015, which debuted on Billboard 200 at No. 171. And it was completely by accident, literally no one expected it. Ever since then, it’s been a steady rise to the top. It took 3-4 years. No disrespect but I wouldn’t go around making assumptions about how they rapidly rose to fame. Because they didn’t. They worked so hard for it and honestly, they deserve ALL the hype. Also, BTS paved the way.

This is what differentiates BTS from other groups. They are building a steady fanbase not a momentary hype. It'll be interesting to see how kpop does once BTS go on hiatus cause they're the obvious driving force behind the western market giving kpop a chance

for those who don’t know: yes in the music video Halsey has little lines but that’s because that’s the tour version for when they go on tour and obviously can’t have her travel with them just to sing that song. if you look up the audio version you’ll find that she has many more lines and sometimes sings the chorus and other lines other then oh my my my

Halsey has more lines in the studio version of the song. She actually sings in every chorus in that version. The reason they did this was because korean boy bands have lots of live performances and since close to all their live performances are in Korea, Halsey can't exactly perform with them every single time.

BTS didn't break into the u.s market in only 1 year. They have been on the rise since 2015 starting with their HYYH trilogy. They attended the AMAs in 2017. Other idols work hard, true, but let's not imply that BTS had it easy.
