Is the track between Coimbatore and Palakkad is single track??
No its double track but becoz of ghaats both up and down tracks are seperated just after podannur jn. But before reaching palakkad Jn. both tracks get together .

Are passengers aboard IR trains required to have tickets? I've watched many videos of IR trains and I see no controls or checks on embarking or disembarking passengers and I've never seen a uniformed "conductor" coming through the carriages to check for tickets. I'm sure there must be some process for checking tickets, but given the overwhelming demand for space on "passenger" and most "express" trains my guess would be that ticketing is not well policed or enforced either on long haul or local commuter trains.
It varies across areas to be honest -- there are almost no checks on the Bombay commuter trains and almost everyone has a ticket and religiously observe first and second class even at midnight when they are fully aware that no one is checking. There are random checks and on average, you would be asked to display your ticket maybe once in 2 months of travel. In general, there's always checking in air-conditioned coaches across the network on all trains. In non-air conditioned coaches, there's always checking of reservations in southern India (where almost no one will violate the ticketing norms) while it will vary in northern and eastern India. A more accurate response to your question would be: ticket checking is done quite well in areas where social norms also discipline people to buy tickets. It is done poorly where social norms are weaker in terms of people buying tickets.
@@ritadhishankar Thank you!! I have often wondered about this! If people do not buy tickets, its hard to understand how IR can survive. So I guess the majority of passengers do buy them...with significant exceptions in some areas, such as Mumbai.

just one suggestion......at 14:57 minutes of the video, the train name you have mentioned is Coimbatore Nagercoil fast passenger......but it is not....the actual train is "Palaghat town Tiruchirapalli fast passenger". I have experienced in it....So that's my only suggestion bro.

@@nickj2554 no bro.......i have traveled in both Coimbatore Nagercoil fast passenger and Palaghat town Tiruchirapalli fast passenger...............both the train timings differ........ those two trains are familiar for me as i had experience in it. So that i was sure about the train............If you have any doubt you can check the train details and timings with location as "Erode Jn".

There is another Patna ernakulam train via Katpadi and itarsi,while the other Patna ernakulam express goes via asansol and bypasses Chennai and halts at perambur
