I remember watching this exact show on TV. I used to watch 'The Old Grey Whistle Test' every week. I think that it was shown on Tuesday evenings at about 10.30pm, and my Dad hated it but let me watch! I had started to like RTF before this and I must have had a huge surprise to see this concert. I would have been about 18 at the time.
Until the end of times this will be a perfect example of a Model D Mini-Moog going nuts. I remember that feeling. I'm pretty sure Chick went to the producer and asked to do it again for obvious reasons and the producer replied :''What problem? Nah, it's fine'' ;-)
I remember watching this programme at the time, these guys playing all this seriously heavy music, but having fun with it!! Started paying a lot more attention to fusion after this, and seeing Back Door......all of which led me to Weather Report. Start of something life-changing right there.
Most memorable aspect of this performance: Chick Corea's Minimoog being temperamental and refusing to stay in tune, but he soldiers on.
Oscillators constantly going out of tune/ waveform flucuations from stage lighting heating up the panel, humidity.
hahahahaha yeah the Stanley Clarke "poker face" says everything
Stanley Clarke’s “I didn’t hear that” expression @00:39 when Chick hits the wonky MiniMoog for the first time always cracks me up! 😂😂
hahahahha is horrible that moog tune yeah
I always considered these guys the Emerson Lake and Palmer of the Jazz world😊
Al is the Man.
God how I miss the 1970s😮
Got to see Al D when he was still a teen, we spoke to his Mom at the concert.
