There is no one better prepared than Lawson for the role. He was competing as a rookie at the front of the field for a championship against adults who had years of experience in the cars and of the tracks in both DTM and Super Formula. People seem to have selective memories, Max wasn't the #1 Red Bull driver until his 4th F1 season, no hurry for him to be beating him. He will definitely do better than Norris, who took 6 years to have his first win and only had 1 podium in his first 2 seasons.
Agreed, but he has proven record of adapting quickly. He’s won a lot of races on debut. Not saying he’ll beat Max as that would be crazy. But I suspect he will silence the critics. Can’t wait for March!
@@The123Orion123 it's hard to know what's for real and what's made up with the content that gets put out , I bust hope the car is competitive for most of the year ,if anything I think rbr will be slower at the start of the season and make a run late season
Lawson was on Yuki's pace from Day One while learning a car and tracks that Yuki had been driving for 3-4 years. And with better race pace than Yuki - the choice was obvious. Lawson's track record of hopping into anything on wheels and doing well says he is a natural race car driver. He has a huge challenge - but if he keeps his head together he has a good shot at succeeding.
RedBull are copying McLarens formula. Pair a rookie driver next to an experienced driver. Look at ALL the other teams on the grid next (except Ferrari). Difference is, RedBulls rookie has 11 races under his belt, whereas all the other rookies have none (except Ollie, 2 or 3). Piastre, Collapinto and Lawson have all shown that the current crop of young drivers are adapting to the cars better . And with new regulations in 26, next year is a get up to speed year for all of the teams. 2025 will be a fight between McLaren, Ferrari and RedBull in that order because of the driver pairings. If Lawson can keep the car on track, then he'll be fine. The grid for 2026 will be the same as next year, no one will bring in new drivers with new regulations/cars.
Lots of talk about RB being ruthless, chewing Lawson up and spitting him out, I disagree. Strategically things have changed, the RB board have moved away from paid drivers etc to the junior development option. Some older drivers are struggling to adapt to the new cars and 2026 will be even worse, some rookies may adapt better, but still have to gain experience in the big game. RB also have the potential challenge that they may not have Max in 2026/27 and Yuki almost certainly gone in 2026, so they will need drivers. If Liam shows promise, RB will invest in him.
The RB management have set Lawson up to fail miserably while intentionally making Max's goal of attaining a fifth WDC in 2025 even more difficult. In 2026, we hope Jos Verstappen will move Max to join the Aston Martin team to join Adrian Newey; Honda and Alonzo to form the F1 'dream team'.
Red Bull will chew him up and spit him out just like, Riccardo, Gasly, Albon and Perez.. It's RedBull that is the problem not the second seat racers. I keep saying this. As they continue to develop the car with upgrades designed to benefit ONE DRIVER, Max, the support driver is expected to adapt to the car.. So the performance and points suffer and ultimately they fire the driver. So the ONLY way that Lawson can survive is if he can LEARN how to DRIVE like Max.. And that is a LONG SHOT.
Why not wait and see what Lawson can produce instead of spouting rhetoric without foundation..? As Lawson himself said, driving is not a style or replicating someone else's driving pattern, it is being able to drive the car you are given and getting the best out of it. Lawson has driving instructions from Red Bull, not a load-of-bull from keyboard warriors
Marko has said they need to have a bigger operating window for the car next season , it's all a it of a waiting game to see where all the top cars are at come Melbourne,
If you study the data you will see that Lawson already drives a lot like Max. Lawson has spent two years watching Max and looking at his data. He will know how Max makes the cars work.

He needs time, even Max took time to become a complete driver

It's weather redbull give him enough time already rumour swirling he has until the summer break
@@maaduece5132 Nah that’s the Yuki fans wishful thinking. They just want Lawson to fail cos they think it means Yuki will get his seat.

Other rookies with NO f1 experience on the grid ; Devries and Ricciardo were both appointed over Lawson !!!

one season a best i think but I hope I'm wrong i like him
