My gf is swedish and has been living here for 9years and she laughed so hard at your observations, cuz she feels the same about our culture, food and language. She could guess what you were about to say:))
Thanks for the kind words. You're always welcome back in romania

as a romanian, i can say this was pretty accurate! loved it. shaorma isn’t necessary romanian, but we’ve had it as a street food for as long as i can remember, so i guess that sort of makes it part of our culture. loved this guy’s romanian as well, did well at those ț, ă, ș 😆

It's amazing how you managed to capture a lot of positive aspects of the Romanian culture. Being at the center of Europe, Romanians evolved a lot through influences from our neighbors, be it by means of occupation or trading. I am proud to be a Romanian, and quite happy to see a foreigner, having lived in Romania, have such high esteem for our culture. Thank you!

"Să vă trăiască!" roughly translates as "May your kid(s) live" and is a standard wish when you learn of someone's children. Before the age of vaccines and antibiotics child mortality was pretty high here as well as everywhere, and the possibility of losing a child was very real.

It's so interesting to hear the opinion of someone who is not a native speaker of the Romanian language. I can tell that he enjoyed his stay there. As a native Romanian it's very heart warming to see people talking like that about my culture. His pronunciation was really good. He's right, you can go out at any time of night and you won't have any problems on the street.

  • @andreeadobre3190

Hey, awesome insights, you really got us! And your pronounciation is so good! Greetings from Bucharest 😊
I think any foreigner who comes to Romania should also try zacuscă, it's like jam but salty, with veggies, and you spread it on bread, yum!
Also regarding those salutations/response phrases, here's another one that's pretty big. When someone buys something new, like a jacket, you say "să o porți sănătos" (may you wear it in good health). Or "să o stăpânești sănătos" (may you own it in good health) for things you don't wear. My family always makes ridiculous puns about this, like: I got a new vacuum cleaner - May you vacuum your house in good health! I got a drill machine - May you drill holes in good health! And so on 😂

you nailed it! I'm actually impressed how accurate you were about everything. Usually I have to correct the author or add something they missed in the comments, but not in your case. Well there are little things, like the language being perfectly phonetic -we have some exceptions "ghe","ghi","chi" ("chi" being read as "ki" for instance). Must have taken alot of research, well done
