Man I really, really liked this video! ❤ so tired of everyone doing the same thing it’s nice to see something different. And I learned a lot! ❤❤❤❤ thank you!
What a wonderfully executed video and great tutorial on rock painting! I loved the lighter washes you used, the paper towel blotting, and doing several in stages. And I can’t wait for your beautiful brushes to come out! Thanks so much for all the time and effort you put in to this video…well done!
As someone who is very hit-or-miss with foreground objects, you've inspired me to work on rocks on my first few pages of a new sketch book. I found your commentary very helpful, both the painting techniques and your thoughts as you went along. I'd love to see your approach to trees, but maybe you already have a video about that, I'll have a look around. 🪨🍀
Thank you! ❤ I'm so happy this video gave you some inspiration and I hope you enjoy your sketchbook painting! I'm glad you asked about trees. I have a couple videos that include trees but they're not the main topic like with this rock video. I've been wanting to make one like that, so this gives me a bit of encouragement to do it! 😊
Beautiful rocks, Maddy! I love this exercise idea too - you could do it with anything, like still life objects or portrait practice. Also any medium - I'll try it in digital one day soon!
That was such a helpful tutorial, Maddy! Even though I don't work with gouache and focus on digital painting, this will be incredibly useful for figuring out the right steps to paint rocks that fit perfectly with my scene. Great effort ❤👏🏻
Thank you for this video. I always have problems with rocks in my landscapes - they typically end up looking like potatoes. This was very helpful. Thanks again.
Delightful work! every time I see your process it makes me want to illustrate a whole book! For future videos, I'd love to see tree bark, or dirt ground with grass patches techniques! Keep up the amazing work!
Gosh( yes people do say that🤣) I found your site just now and was inspired to try painting rocks. They’ve always been one of my favorite things. I come home from taking a walk and have at least two or three in my pocket. Well done🦋
I have missed looking at your work Maddy, I need to join your streams again to watch you craft such amazing images. These are so cool.! Also how did the game project go, the one with all the plants and stuff is that still ongoing?
Aww thank you so much!! Yes, please come by the streams if you have time. 😊 Sadly, the Lunafon game got put on hold and I'm not sure if it will ever be released or not. It was a beautiful game with so much lovely art, I still have my finger's crossed we'll see it someday!
@@MaddyBellwoar I really hope so, you poured your heart and soul into that artwork. It would be amazing to see it surface! Well, those rocks have inspired me so I will come by soon!
Actually, my problem is not how to paint them, but how to sketch them. I was painting a greek/byzantine icon recently, that included large rocks in the background in that style, and it was impossible to sketch it, it was brain-breaking. The painting was easy, the sketching wasn't.
⭐ Just shared a new video explaining my rock DRAWING process, if anyone wants to see more about that part: ruclips.net/video/RVapq-mH1hk/видео.html
Rock on! 🤘

Ohh that is interesting! I can relate a bit as I find it easier to think in shapes rather than lines these days. I'll keep this in mind, thanks!
