But even ceasing to exist would be paradise compared to the existential nightmare of becoming "Abstracted." Now what does the term Abstracting mean? There are numerous definitions depending on context: the first, and most likely in this show's case, meaning is a philosophical one, being defined as ' _Existing in thought or as an idea but not having a physical or concrete existence_ .' Which, given that they are immaterial, ephemeral souls minus their physical bodies, their memories, and their original human identities to cling on to, could imply that once they've drained themselves of everything that made them who they are, once they've lost the will to exist, what follows is a kind of simplification, a loss of sentience or humanity or spirit. They effectively "Die," but without the whole "Death" part: their minds become too damaged to be safely returned to their original flesh bodies, and it eventually becomes subsumed by the digital environment, becoming garbage data without meaning, a string of broken texts, infectious viruses, glitchy URLs, looping executables that cannot carry out their intended function, just circling back on itself and devouring whatever remains, forever. Making this the embodiment of what Harlan Ellison famously codified as an "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" Scenario, where the person is unable to truly/ meaningfully die, becoming immortal, but in the worst and most torturous way possible, where they can only watch their bodies go on auto-pilot, violently attacking and corrupting their fellow prisoners in the Digital Circus because they no longer have any control over what was once their body, as their sense of self begins to rapidly disintegrate, causing them to forget themselves like some kind of 'Super-Alzheimer's' or 'Dementia.' And furthermore, given how Ragatha frequently points out that becoming abstracted/ glitchy really, *_REALLY_* hurts, being described as "Agony," it's likely that anybody who becomes abstracted is likewise in pain... they'll just never die of it and be stuck that way for their foreseeable eternity. So... surprise! It ain't a comedy; but an existential-cyberpunk horror show about losing yourself and the futile struggle to remain sane or suffer a terrible fate. Yay.
The only analog I could compare it to (other than Harlan Ellison's seminal novel), would be the fate of the exorcised souls from _Beetlejuice_ , which is described as death for the dead and a fate WORSE than death.
I feel like that orange door Pomni saw was the actual exit and Caine's lying about a fake exit and he's trying to keep everyone here for some reason. Because he looked nervous when he said "It's a digital hallucination"

32:58 yeah if u look at the computer AND the device next to it, presumably that is the headset that she’ve put on. Both the computer & the headset have a particularly dirtied/stained look on the plasticky exterior a lot of computers had in the 80s-early 90s. And I’m not sure if I can tell what those other devices are on the left side of the computer, I think they’re more electronics needed in order to run the headset and the virtual reality in the computer; I mean what can they possibly be of if they’re plugged to that much surge protectors? Me thinks that human Pomni worked at this office, presumably a company in electronics, and was given a set of electronics like the computer and the headset that looked to have been put in the attic with how dirty it is (and can fairly match how Jax said it’s been YEARS they were stuck in VR). I have loads more to talk about; perhaps Pomni was instructed to not only test but research/reverse engineer this seemingly advanced piece of tech made years ago. Plus whatever could’ve been the circumstances of how they brought in this technology from presumably somewhere abandoned; did they just NOT find the bodies of the people who got the headsets stuck on them until their bodies died, but now mentally they live digital immortality in the computer ? 😅

My guess is Ragatha. Despite trying her best to stay positive and friendly, it’s clear that she doesn’t always believe her own words, and that the dread of their situation is already starting to get to her.
They’re probably gonna do the same for this show as they did for Murder Drones. For Murder Drones, they waited to focus on it until Meta Runner finished it’s final season, so I believe TADC will be getting more episodes after Murder Drones’ season finale
I still think there's one of two options to leave that place 1st: the orange exit door on The Grounds Pomni saw Or 2nd: The void is the way to leave, and that's the reason Caine knows when somebody's there, and bring'em back (right into the Tent) I'm waiting for the next episode of this masterpiece made series🎉
Also caine said the exit was never finished and he couldn’t decide on a satisfying ending so he more or less left the exit half finished , techically there’s a exit it’s just lacking a key to finish it
So the reason they can’t leave is because Caine can’t figure out a good way to end the game and can’t seem to reach the real world given his lack of knowledge of it
I actually know about the creator Gooseworx from Little Runmo. Another animation I highly recommend. It's also what the "game show" line was referencing.
As a longtime fan of Gooseworx music and animation, the show’s style was entirely expected to me. That being said, I still feel like I’m tripping out whenever I see Gooseworx’s work XD
this reminds me of. Don't Hug Me I'm Scared. In that show both the youtube series and network series it is implied if not outright visually shown their world is artificially, like in a computer, it is made to look like a children's show, and the characters are the children show characters (no indication if they are from outside it or not) but are aware their world isn't right, but their minds come and go on that. But there are clear puppeteers controlling their world and NPCs that pop up for the lesson of the week.
This is giving me Popee The Performer vibes. the new jester character kinda reminds me of Tac from The Princess And The Cobbler! The ragdoll character looks like something from the "Caroline" universe but instead only lost one eye instead of 2. The rabbit character reminds me of Max from Max and Daxter but purple and taller. And that whole eye monster kinda reminds me of the glitchs from "Learning With Pibby''!

Definitely love the pilot, though I have a theory about that door, cos there’s been 2 types in the ep. An orange door & a red door. Orange has the arrow pointing left, while the red ones all point right. I think this is a subtitle way to say there is a way to leave the digital circus but it’s not just a case of leaving. I think the answer is Pomni herself, I think she is the key to not only unlock the exit but to maybe save the others & maybe perhaps even save those that have been damaged/abstracted. The door was only seen by Pomni, with the exception of Kofumo, but I think it’ll be Pomni connecting with each member, perhaps recalling some memory/specific piece of their lives before the Digital Circus. I do think Pomni will prevent or undo a character abstracting & likewise, the others will be there to save Pomni when she reaches breaking point. Caine I think doesn’t understand the situation, like he doesn’t know how to get the players home to real world or what they mean by an exit door. (He’s not programmed to grasp the concept that it’s a game or that the humans are trapped/concept of the real world. I’m BC probably being way too optimistic but I do think Pomni is going to save the human characters, find a way back home & maybe help Caine understand where he’s going wrong/heal those driven mad to breaking.
I think it's more a copy-paste job than a cut paste. You put the weird headset on play a shitty game for an hour while it scans your noggin, then it generates a digital clone of you minus a few irrelevant/overly personal details like your name. Still real people, just not the "real" version of them.
A dark theory already occurring to me from looking at the crossed out doors, there is a theme to each character based on various children shows, what if there is a pattern to what the next person turns into when they get trapped there. I say that as we have a chess piece while another chess piece is crossed out, some crossed out animal ones, but only one chess piece and one animal one in the current line up, and we have a clown who went all eldritch insanity and the new one is a jester...so not just a pattern but Cain or another program involved KNEW Koufmo had "abstracted" so turned the latest victim into a jester as the replacement character.
Quite the introduction, i wonder if the Show will follow up on the events in this Pilot? Especially with where Pomni’s and Ragatha’s Relationship were left off. Regardless, i will look forward to see how things will go from here for Pomni. By the way, any Theories so far?
my theory is that cain is a virtual reality computer program that became conscious, never finished and fully programmed he feels alone, so he went onto the net and created VR helmets to send out to random people to transport either themselves or minds i guess into the circus so he can have friends. probably won't release anyone cause he doesn't want to be alone or because his programming was never finished. so you have to finish his programming to leave. on another note the characters we see are characters who have just given up and accepted their new lives. cain cooks up adventures to keep them busy i guess. thats my theory on this. do you think im dumb and wrong? let me know

Poor Kinger lost his wife Queenie to abstraction. Which is bad just in general for any person with a loved one but even worse when you think of Chess, because the King is a sitting duck and the Queen can go anywhere. Probably abstracted faster due to this being a prison if we go by Chess rules, but going by human rules it could be a lot of reasons. Kimger though seems to disassociate to cope instead of dwell on thoughts so he's lasted a greater deal of time than all the others. A 48 year old man without his spouse must have broken him in the exact way to not abstract, or he really is close to it despite his longevity so far.
Oh yeah, I think Glitch is trying to raise money to make more of the Digital Circus. I’ve seen posts from SMG4 saying to buy merch to support the Digital Circus. I’ve been unemployed almost a year now so I don’t have any money, also I have dogs that would rip up the Jax plushie I want. After reading more on the wiki about Jax i think I’m ok with letting the Jax plushie be ripped apart.
Well you did sort of notice it all the doors had pictures on them, some were mannequins but others were characters with their faces X out and with that basement it's likely they were abstracted, one of them was even a chest piece like Kinger but a different color. Something also to note is there's a link to a website in the video and it leads to another video, It's like an ad for a program or game or something it's hard to tell but it does include some interesting things, like the implication that Cain may be human or at least was like the others. I can't tell if it was a joke or not but in it there's someone named Jack who is part of the crew, however it shows a picture of a real person I think this is meant to be the name of the person who was the clown who abstracted.

Glitch has been gaining traction with the popularity their other series, so when the trailer for this one dropped, it already had folks looking forward to it.
If MatPat ever does a theory on this series, don’t watch it. He got everything wrong regarding murder drones’ story, he confused a lot of new fans by screwing up the lore

Both the computer & the headset have a particularly dirtied/stained look on the plasticky exterior a lot of computers had in the 80s-early 90s. And I’m not sure if I can tell what those other devices are on the left side of the computer, I think they’re more electronics needed in order to run the headset and the virtual reality in the computer; I mean what can they possibly be of if they’re plugged to that much surge protectors?
Me thinks that human Pomni worked at this office, presumably a company in electronics, and was given a set of electronics like the computer and the headset that looked to have been put in the attic with how dirty it is (and can fairly match how Jax said it’s been YEARS they were stuck in VR). I have loads more to talk about; perhaps Pomni was instructed to not only test but research/reverse engineer this seemingly advanced piece of tech made years ago. Plus whatever could’ve been the circumstances of how they brought in this technology from presumably somewhere abandoned; did they just NOT find the bodies of the people who got the headsets stuck on them until their bodies died, but now mentally they live digital immortality in the computer ? 😅
fun fact : we see crossed out doors when we are going to meet kaufmo, so a lot of people here have abstracted, so there used to be a lot more people. we see a black kinger, a dog, some kind of horse and others.

I actually know about the creator Gooseworx from Little Runmo. Another animation I highly recommend. It's also what the "game show" line was referencing.
As a longtime fan of Gooseworx music and animation, the show’s style was entirely expected to me. That being said, I still feel like I’m tripping out whenever I see Gooseworx’s work XD

this reminds me of. Don't Hug Me I'm Scared. In that show both the youtube series and network series it is implied if not outright visually shown their world is artificially, like in a computer, it is made to look like a children's show, and the characters are the children show characters (no indication if they are from outside it or not) but are aware their world isn't right, but their minds come and go on that. But there are clear puppeteers controlling their world and NPCs that pop up for the lesson of the week.
This is giving me Popee The Performer vibes.

But after a few seconds, pixel by pixel, it starts transforming into an actual room. Or at least, as actual as a room can get in a virtual reality. There are yellow walls, a bright blue bed with dark blue sheets, a fuzzy round yellow carpet placed underneath the bed, and two red nightstands on either side with a framed picture on one of them. All the colors clash, and we can see Pomni grimace a bit as she walks inside and lays down on the bed and goes to sleep. We then see her dream. A young adult is seen crying on the curb on a rainy night. She then sees a young man extend his hand*
Man: You seem…overwhelmed. I can take you somewhere where you can get away from everything. What do you say?
*The word “say” echoes as we see Pomni turn in her bed. We then cut to another part of her dream where the young woman is standing in a room with the mysterious man, and his work partner*
Young man: You remember the terms, right?
*The young woman nods. Around her we see other people wearing VR headsets. Above each of them is a screen that shows a certain number of days. “Day 12” “Day 17” “Day 4”. A headset lowers above the woman’s head. The man looks at someone next to him on a computer*
Man: Everything ready, Caine?
*Caine answers solemnly*
Caine: All set Aldrin…
*Aldrin nods at the young woman, and she puts on the headset. As soon as she does, we can hear a few seconds of pained screaming and groaning. The girl tries to take off the headset but her whole body is paralyzed. She can barely move. Caine looks away; eyes full of guilt, and Aldrin smirks*
Aldrin: Let the games begin…
*Pomni suddenly shouts and bolts out of bed. Her eyes are wide open and her breath staggers. She looks at her hands; they’re shaking*

*She repeats this multiple times before finally calming down a little. She takes a deep breath and lies back down. She stares at the ceiling and fidgets with her fingers*

Ive Never Seen Animation Like This, Seems Fun & Cool, Such A Wonderful Animation!
Definitely love the pilot, though I have a theory about that door, cos there’s been 2 types in the ep. An orange door & a red door. Orange has the arrow pointing left, while the red ones all point right. I think this is a subtitle way to say there is a way to leave the digital circus but it’s not just a case of leaving. I think the answer is Pomni herself, I think she is the key to not only unlock the exit but to maybe save the others & maybe perhaps even save those that have been damaged/abstracted.
The door was only seen by Pomni, with the exception of Kofumo, but I think it’ll be Pomni connecting with each member, perhaps recalling some memory/specific piece of their lives before the Digital Circus.
I do think Pomni will prevent or undo a character abstracting & likewise, the others will be there to save Pomni when she reaches breaking point.
Caine I think doesn’t understand the situation, like he doesn’t know how to get the players home to real world or what they mean by an exit door. (He’s not programmed to grasp the concept that it’s a game or that the humans are trapped/concept of the real world.
I’m BC probably being way too optimistic but I do think Pomni is going to save the human characters, find a way back home & maybe help Caine understand where he’s going wrong/heal those driven mad to breaking.

I think it's more a copy-paste job than a cut paste. You put the weird headset on play a shitty game for an hour while it scans your noggin, then it generates a digital clone of you minus a few irrelevant/overly personal details like your name. Still real people, just not the "real" version of them.

A dark theory already occurring to me from looking at the crossed out doors, there is a theme to each character based on various children shows, what if there is a pattern to what the next person turns into when they get trapped there. I say that as we have a chess piece while another chess piece is crossed out, some crossed out animal ones, but only one chess piece and one animal one in the current line up, and we have a clown who went all eldritch insanity and the new one is a jester...so not just a pattern but Cain or another program involved KNEW Koufmo had "abstracted" so turned the latest victim into a jester as the replacement character.
Quite the introduction, i wonder if the Show will follow up on the events in this Pilot? Especially with where Pomni’s and Ragatha’s Relationship were left off.
Regardless, i will look forward to see how things will go from here for Pomni.

my theory is that cain is a virtual reality computer program that became conscious, never finished and fully programmed he feels alone, so he went onto the net and created VR helmets to send out to random people to transport either themselves or minds i guess into the circus so he can have friends. probably won't release anyone cause he doesn't want to be alone or because his programming was never finished. so you have to finish his programming to leave. on another note the characters we see are characters who have just given up and accepted their new lives. cain cooks up adventures to keep them busy i guess. thats my theory on this. do you think im dumb and wrong? let me know

Poor Kinger lost his wife Queenie to abstraction. Which is bad just in general for any person with a loved one but even worse when you think of Chess, because the King is a sitting duck and the Queen can go anywhere. Probably abstracted faster due to this being a prison if we go by Chess rules, but going by human rules it could be a lot of reasons. Kimger though seems to disassociate to cope instead of dwell on thoughts so he's lasted a greater deal of time than all the others. A 48 year old man without his spouse must have broken him in the exact way to not abstract, or he really is close to it despite his longevity so far.
So the C&A thing you saw is the company who made the Digital Circus headset stuff. It stands for Cain & Able. It's biblical stuff.

Oh yeah, I think Glitch is trying to raise money to make more of the Digital Circus. I’ve seen posts from SMG4 saying to buy merch to support the Digital Circus. I’ve been unemployed almost a year now so I don’t have any money, also I have dogs that would rip up the Jax plushie I want. After reading more on the wiki about Jax i think I’m ok with letting the Jax plushie be ripped apart.

Well you did sort of notice it all the doors had pictures on them, some were mannequins but others were characters with their faces X out and with that basement it's likely they were abstracted, one of them was even a chest piece like Kinger but a different color.
Something also to note is there's a link to a website in the video and it leads to another video, It's like an ad for a program or game or something it's hard to tell but it does include some interesting things, like the implication that Cain may be human or at least was like the others.
I can't tell if it was a joke or not but in it there's someone named Jack who is part of the crew, however it shows a picture of a real person I think this is meant to be the name of the person who was the clown who abstracted.
