- In today’s video, I respond to a call from a subscriber who needs help removing fish from her koi pond! She said kids have been stocking big predatory fish in her pond recently and they ate all of her fish! We ended up removing an ILLEGAL snakehead, jaguar cichlids, peacock bass, and plecos from her pond and brought them back to keep as our own pets!

Try using an expandable baby gate for small ponds like this. Start on one side holding the gate in front of you guys, and walk towards the other side of the pond. Herding the bigger fish into a smaller area to catch easier. Also can cut a pool noodle down the long way and attach it to the bottom of the baby gate so there is padding. A little protection for the fish and pool liner. Some fish might still get past you but it's still more manageable.
to expand on this since there's always multiple guys with nets; a gate on 1 side and someone with a decent size catch net on the other and they walk side by side. that would force the fish in front of the gate to either go forward or to the side into the nets. i would say a smaller seine type of net, but i feel like that would be too much work, especially if there was underwater 'decoration' for the fish and other items to get hung up on. great idea, just thought i might add to it.
I am going to guess you saw that lady's tiny little pond and thought, "how big could the fish possibly be?". Boys, it was entertaining how unprepared you were.
Next up, BFP goes fishing for Marlin with aquarium nets.
If you had brought larger nets, the video would not have been as entertaining. So two thumbs up for small nets and multiple failures :)

The way to do this would have been to hook a hose up to the fountain and drain out the pond and then remove all fish that aren't supposed to be there. It's very clear you missed at least 1 fish and probably more.

Love seeing fish in natural sunlight. It brings out the most beautiful colors. I love seeing my African cichlids when the sunlight hits my tank. .

imagine being the lady that called what she thought was - i am assuming - someone experienced in fish handling to help her… then seeing them screaming and scared to touch it 😳
I would have never went in barefoot especially when you don't know what kind of fish you are dealing with, snakeheads have teeth and spines on other fish can definitely give you a bad infection.
cause this is all set up for entertainment purposes

As an older person i would like to offer you some advice - if I may?
You have good equipment and a beautiful truck
but you always appear to be totally unprepared to deal with situations that you encounter.
I think it is time that you set up your truck like any professional
with all your best tools properly stored and ready to go
You should have a locking tool box with your gear
Quality nets and extension poles, fish traps of various types and sizes with proper nylon cords and anchors stakes,
casting nets of multiple sizes
cat food and other baits, coolers and aerators
mud or beach shoes for proper protection
knifes, cutting tools flashlights, camera gear, etc .
you should treat your adventures like a business of a young entrepreneur
an not a bunch a silly teenagers horsing around and never having the right tool for the right job.
i am not saying to give up your enthusiasm or playful joy for the job
just being prepared with all your equipment will make so much more successful at your efforts.
Hopefully you can appreciate what i am trying to say .
basically; Take time to sharpen your axe

You need to bring a pump and drain the pond.. if you keep moving and dropping rocks in that you will puncture the pond liner and that will cost more to replace.. drain it will make it easier on you to catch the fish too… and then your doing a water change when you fill it back up.. but keep up the great videos

The power outlet not working so plugging the pump in the other socket is a good way to find a short. Especially with them standing in the water.
Next time wait until your buddies are OUT of the water before you plug the 110v pump back in after they’ve been stomping all around it.

Check into them more. Along with lionfish, iguanas, pythons, common plecos , and many other desperate issues in ur state. You can help with that because of what you do out there, how much you love your wildlife around you, and your platform. I hope you will do that! Keep it up I love what your doing.

But seriously, props for making a fun video...next time, if you're dealing with such a small pond, I'd just drain it.
I was shocked when I read about how incredibly resilient snakehead fish actually are. They can survive in stagnate water and can live and breathe out of water up to 4 days, as long as the conditions outside are somewhat damp. They've also been known to travel up to a quarter mile across land to find new bodies of water by wriggling their bodies and using their fins to move.
The concern about snakehead fish is over how they'll effect/disrupt native ecosystems by potentially displacing native wildlife populations. I think they've been identified in something like 15 states in the US so far. I believe they were introduced here from their original Asian habitat via the exotic animal trade. There were likely some pet owners who released them into the wild and from there they sprang...sounds like the python problem in Florida.
I've never tried one, but I hear they're pretty good to eat (snakeheads, not pythons...but hey, maybe pythons would taste good too) and there's obviously no limit on how many you can catch...I don't know how dense their populations currently are in Florida, hopefully people are catching lots and eating well.
