To be fair though, to have a device like this buit by a massive team of profesionales and miss something as simple as being able to have one of the projectors active... Keep in mind theese things are tested and improoved overtime with thousands of functions developed specifically for It, It seems stupid enough that they missed it.

Even if the solution that enables decoupling the two sides in firmware would be fairly simple, that's still more resources that are unnecessary if you don't expect anyone to rip your device in half and want it to work afterwards.

Also, i nevera mentioned tearing the device apart, i understand that they're not ment to be worked on as for example the charging port on phones, wich is designed to be easily replaced with it's daughter board.

Also I find it hilarious that you not only hacked the display against their will, you are also providing them a free product placement, free advertisement, personal (involuntary) endorsement, and exposure to hundreds of thousands of wannabe cyborgs, all against their will.
A trick that you might be able to use: tell the supplier that your company already purchased the thing you want documentation for. We develop test machines and I face the same BS with documentation. I need a software manual, a user manual or something. A sales guy comes back and asks what is the expected purchase amount etc. At this point I tell them we already have the devices and I need the developers documentation. Usually they provide it. If they do not, I tell them we have a subcontractor (which is true - we have several) and one of them has the goods - I am just the top level developer and have no idea who our subcontractor is. I hope this workaround helps you :)
Yep, classic 'it's not my department' in action, sales people stop caring once they realize they won't get anything out of further interaction, and will just approve whatever request you're making to get you out of the way or pass you off to another department that can process your request who conveniently don't care about the sales gatekeeping. It almost always helps to claim ignorance of what's going on, it being some other shmuck's fault, and trying to garner empathy for your situation, "I got dragged into fixing their shit", as other technical people know all to well that burden and like sailors rescuing enemy sailors in war who know that the sea is the real threat to all sailors, there's a comradery there where the true enemy are the middle managers, corporate policy, and ignorant or incompetent coworkers...

Same, watching this channel also gave me the motivation I needed to just start my project I had in the planning stage for months. I learned more in a few weeks of building and testing than I would've in another 6 months of design and maths

Some truly great work on this. The one thing that would drive me nuts is that they don't seem to sit level on your head. I would probably add a counter weight to the 3d printed half but I'm too lazy to build anything remotely as ambitious, so who am I to make suggestions.

Man I'd love to make one of these for myself. I don't have any experience with soldering but I could totally do the rest. Guess this is the perfect excuse to finally learn how to solder.
Damn that is setting yourself up for a frustrating time, not sure I could do it and while I'd not call myself a master I've spent a good deal of time with soldering (and I certainly don't have all the tools, as this is too fine I'd think even for my still good eyes). I'd suggest getting the feel for soldering on small stuff by buying/using the heap of working ancient smartphones you already have and can get some spare parts for or one step easier and pick a common cheap Arduino like board to buy a small horde of and swap chips - Both are easier but still throwing yourself in near the deep end, perhaps still too close to the rabid shark infested deep end to succeed. At least without learning from and with the help from a master or driving yourself bonkers... Don't want to dissuade you from having go though, and I wish you luck at keeping the magic smoke in.
This would be micro-soldering, a whole different beast. You would need a microscope and a fair deal of practice and skill, though it's eminently doable by just about anyone. Before diving down said rabbit hole, I'd explore simply outsourcing the pick and place and soldering of the connectors from a PCB manufacturer at the same time the PCB is made for this project.
Check out marcoreps channel, he does a lot of very tiny soldering and has done a few reviews of microscopes for soldering/soldering irons that sort of thing (:

Huge fun. When I saw the pixelated board at the top of the vid, I just *knew* it was an interposer. From 2007 to 2015, I reverse engineered pretty much every cell phone sold in the west. Lots of I2C busses to interfere with,snoop and spoof. We even made interposer boards that would allow signal interruption/injection on accelerometers in very densely populated boards. 3x3mm^2. You shoulda called me.

Loving these videos. Now I'm not very savy at building something only taking apart inspecting and then pissing my friends and family off for destroying things unintentionally. My question??? How do I start learning to do what you do now? I don't even know how to solder that well, but i mean to ask more about how to begin learning to build electronics and understand them. Are there any references you could possibly share to help viewers begin their journey into becoming tech wearing cyborgs? *Edit. I value dudes opinions and if he trusted a source to explain a project i could really get into without too much experience or cash it would be very helpful. Sure the information i seek must be available, I'm just asking for a bookmark to begin on the right page. I'm also pretty ADHD and would appreciate clear concise explanation for why something works rather than just getting something to work with an instructable. I can't personally replicate what Zack does, probably the coolest shit I've seen in RUclips tbh and if it was easier to replicate we'd be seeing lots of copycats already. i don't really have the tools, but maybe there's a channel he likes that makes simpler toys that don't need 3d printing or high tech sponsors/money. Things i can build with older cheaper electronics with lower risk in the event i mess something up (i will definitely mess something up)
Ok obviously googling would work to find random guides. What I'm asking is if there's any entry level guides for new viewers to follow and get up to speed. Possibly other channels or videos to help get started since his seem so much more expensive and higher difficulty. Maybe there's a few simple projects he can suggest people to try that require little overhead cost and lower skill/understanding. I'm great at googling things i need, like repairing my devices, modding/rooting phones and PSP/vitas, etc. I've mostly repaired by changing micro ports after some charging issues. I can definitely figure out how to do something simple with enough research on Google but i don't have a firm grasp on the terminology or groundwork, I'm just following instructions like a gundam or painting by numbers... It's not the same as learning how to paint, or build. But i still don't actually understand color theory difference of mediums/brushes and techniques and canvas for textures. Real painters could watch other painters and pick up techniques, sure. But what would be better is intentional demonstration and explanation of certain methods to achieve desirable results. Sorry for tangent but basically i want some guidance on smaller scale project i or others with less knowledge can use to gain experience. Google offers no guidance beyond letting me surf other guides that still assume i have a higher understanding

Damn that is setting yourself up for a frustrating time, not sure I could do it and while I'd not call myself a master I've spent a good deal of time with soldering (and I certainly don't have all the tools, as this is too fine I'd think even for my still good eyes).
I'd suggest getting the feel for soldering on small stuff by buying/using the heap of working ancient smartphones you already have and can get some spare parts for or one step easier and pick a common cheap Arduino like board to buy a small horde of and swap chips - Both are easier but still throwing yourself in near the deep end, perhaps still too close to the rabid shark infested deep end to succeed. At least without learning from and with the help from a master or driving yourself bonkers...
Don't want to dissuade you from having go though, and I wish you luck at keeping the magic smoke in.
Learn how to solder an led to a project board first, it's legit harder than in looks when you have no experience

This would be micro-soldering, a whole different beast. You would need a microscope and a fair deal of practice and skill, though it's eminently doable by just about anyone. Before diving down said rabbit hole, I'd explore simply outsourcing the pick and place and soldering of the connectors from a PCB manufacturer at the same time the PCB is made for this project.
Check out marcoreps channel, he does a lot of very tiny soldering and has done a few reviews of microscopes for soldering/soldering irons that sort of thing (:

Huge fun. When I saw the pixelated board at the top of the vid, I just *knew* it was an interposer. From 2007 to 2015, I reverse engineered pretty much every cell phone sold in the west. Lots of I2C busses to interfere with,snoop and spoof. We even made interposer boards that would allow signal interruption/injection on accelerometers in very densely populated boards. 3x3mm^2. You shoulda called me.
What a maneuver. Too bad Epson didn't know you had the drive to make this happen with or without their help.

I can't personally replicate what Zack does, probably the coolest shit I've seen in RUclips tbh and if it was easier to replicate we'd be seeing lots of copycats already. i don't really have the tools, but maybe there's a channel he likes that makes simpler toys that don't need 3d printing or high tech sponsors/money. Things i can build with older cheaper electronics with lower risk in the event i mess something up (i will definitely mess something up)

Ok obviously googling would work to find random guides. What I'm asking is if there's any entry level guides for new viewers to follow and get up to speed. Possibly other channels or videos to help get started since his seem so much more expensive and higher difficulty. Maybe there's a few simple projects he can suggest people to try that require little overhead cost and lower skill/understanding.
I'm great at googling things i need, like repairing my devices, modding/rooting phones and PSP/vitas, etc.
I've mostly repaired by changing micro ports after some charging issues. I can definitely figure out how to do something simple with enough research on Google but i don't have a firm grasp on the terminology or groundwork, I'm just following instructions like a gundam or painting by numbers... It's not the same as learning how to paint, or build.
But i still don't actually understand color theory difference of mediums/brushes and techniques and canvas for textures.
Real painters could watch other painters and pick up techniques, sure. But what would be better is intentional demonstration and explanation of certain methods to achieve desirable results.
Sorry for tangent but basically i want some guidance on smaller scale project i or others with less knowledge can use to gain experience.
Google offers no guidance beyond letting me surf other guides that still assume i have a higher understanding
I would get started with Arduino (or similar), simply because of the mountains of documentation available.

Edit: Nice, supposedly the eye resolution for that model is 1080p. I can see the temptation for a wearable display, I got real giddy when I heard about some Windows PC'es that where smartphone sized and the Windows phone awhile back (satansoft, fallout tactics reference) aside. I am eager for the 2nd video on the brainbox v2.0, plus could see an custom blinders to block out light from the top-bottom-sides of the left display. Not sure about how useful it would be in comparison to the included shades, but I'd guess it'd might be worth it to someone who gets irritated by a faded image.
