Today I am going to show you the world's smallest Windows 11 build called Micro11! It takes up almost 3GB of space, but with some minor tweaking it can occupy as low as 1.34GB! Of course, most of the features are either broken or just not present. The lack of network services probably hits the hardest, as you can't browse the Internet from that build.

Finally, my Windows 95 computer wont need to upgrade to install Windows 11
I know this is a joke but I would love to know someone who still uses windows 95
@@RitaColacoNuminous My grandpa, and that's no joke, since all he needs a computer for is MS Word he still uses a Pentium II machine with Windows 95 on it, i am genuinely amazed at how that system is still alive to this day
@@alexg9601 Your grandpa is so cool! And I am also amazed that windows 95 has survived for so long, I wonder how people will see operating sistems 20 years from now.
@@alexg9601 That's incredible, reminds me of how the U.S military still uses those massive 8-inch floppy disks for guiding nuclear missiles because they're super reliable
@@JetFalcon710 Yeah, back in the day tech was built to last, nowadays every single piece of hardware that comes out is designed with planned obsolescence in mind, so it's no surprise that many rellics of the past like floppy disks or older operating systems are still going strong on some niches

Pagefile is necessary, it's kind of swap file but for Windows. If a user exceeds maximum RAM cache, Windows can offload by writing RAM content to pagefile which will free up RAM, and for constrained memory usage, it's unlikely you'd know when Windows will crash in low memory.
This of course can't be use for daily purpose but a good experiment.
Pagefile isnt neccessary, programs write in virtual memory without having a physical memory close to full, take a look at chromium browsers, u will be surprised.
If you even saw the video, he allocated 8 gigabytes of RAM to the installation, and even though he de-allocated most of it to 2 GB, it's still a lot more than the enough for this build. So no, the pagefile is NOT necessary for this build. Furthermore, no one's deleting the pagefile on an actual Windows installation anyway.
It's amazing to see the level of bloat microsoft has added to their os. With the junk removed, while compressed, still seems to work after all that. Great vid btw 👍
It's more impressive how big it still is while being so broken. :p
@@Aeduo The smallest Windows 10 & Windows 11 size possible without removing any critical system features are still around 8-9 GB, so yeah
@@sihamhamda47 has anybody done an inventory on what things and categories of things take up so much space?
@@Aeduo I haven't found any of those yet. But most of the size reduction are from removing the pre-installed Microsoft apps (OneDrive, Bing, News, Weather, and some more) and also removing some specified telemetry that are used for collecting user data and showing ads on start menu & search bar (removing those telemetry will remove the widget as well)
My main goal when messing with windows is to minimize RAM usage without breaking any Important features and making programs work normally. My lowest is 0.6gb of ram

I'm pretty sure Microsoft can delete a bunch of useless or legacy stuff in their system so it'll take less disk space -- linux brings the same features while taking less than 10go (depending on the distro)
Sometimes to make it short even you’ll be crazy to make experiments.
Congratulations on your new i7-12700K processor! (edit: accidentally noticed)
If you go to his second channel and watch the RTX 3080ti unboxing video, he mentions the i7 12700K for his PC
4:37 Yes, having no pagefile at all will break several things in Windows. The minimum pagefile you can have without breaking stuff is 16mb (200mb if you want memory-dumps on BSOD). (Also, without a pagefile, some poorly-written programs will just crash instead of gracefully handling low-memory conditions. **cough*Firefox*cough** 😒)
5:12 A crippled and unusable Windows 11 still uses 523mb of RAM and has 30 processes. 🤦 A completely functional Windows 7 can use 600mb and have only 40 processes or a fully-functional Win7 uses 1.2gb with 50 processes. 😒)
5:32 UWP is a malignant form of cancer. 😒
5:44 What‽ NO!!!!! The lack of rounded-corners was the best part! 🤦 Rounded-corners are even worse than UWP. 😠 I'm sick and tired of everybody making everything with rounded-corners. They ruin screenshots. Duh. 😠

Very interesting concept!
Now how small can GNU/Linux be with more functionality than windows (at least internet access)
I bet you could make Linux like 500 megabytes
Nvm. normal Linux is between 100-250.
@@3RR0RNULL Normal linux is not 100-200 megabytes. I guess iso's of most popular linux distros are around 1,5GB - 4GB, and after instalation it is bigger. But you can find these extreamy small linux distros. I will list a few:
- tiny core and its variants: last I chcked it was between 30 and 300 MB, but it is not really suited for somewhat standard use of PC,
- slitaz: I loved firs look of this distro: around 50 MB iso and inside 32bit and 64bit veraion (there are smaller iso's with for example 64bit only) and not bad desktop enviroment. But it is wiredly outdated to my knowledge: there are still recently generated iso's but a lot of stuff is very old so it is not really usable
- puppy linux: probably one of the best, around 300-600MB, but at now it is not yet updated to new base of ubuntu (but it is still on maintained lts veraion, and there are also other bases like void linux),
- slax: also one of the best option I guess, around 350-400MB, but it is based on fully finctioning debian (I guess) and default desktop looks kinda cool. Main advantage is that you probably can actually use it as a normally functioning linux distro and install whatever you want, because it is basically very small debian. (There is also slackware version, but that might be harder to use)
There are also many others: debian dog, fatdog64, weedog, porteus, if you want to tweak it yourself maybe even alpine linux, void linux, arch linux, (OpenSUSE ?).
But one of the smallest operating systems that I know, which is also in some way (but not very much) functional and interesting is KolibriOS, which is not based on linux, but written in assembly
It all depend what you want from your pc, in my expectations probably wins slax, although, I never used these systems as daily driver, and I only used them for testing. Also most used by me distro out of all of these small distros was probably puppy linux
@@3RR0RNULL antix linux 800mb 😮😮

I suggest that you delete temp files, empty the recycle bin, delete unnecessary files (duplicates, personal items that don't mean much, etc.), and stuff that like that.
