You can get literally anywhere in the Netherlands and much of northern Europe simply by walking, biking, or taking some sort of their very well developed public transport. You simply don't need a car. This is beneficial in many ways. First, you don't need massive brutalist infrastructure known as 12 lane highways which we have a lot of in the united states. Second, better for the environment, quieter, and just more pleasant in general. Third, health. Having to walk and bike to locations leads to better health as do other things, resulting in a more happy population. 2) Nutrition. It seems like in the united states you can quite literally market and sell anything. There are regulations in the EU/Netherlands, where you can not include certain hormones and chemicals in food. American products that are sold in the EU are modified to be healthier, an example is mountain dew. 3) University. University in the Netherlands is really cheap if not free. And they have good universities too, for example, tu delft is a worlds top 50 university, primarily focusing in STEM. As a student, I am looking into studying the EU, probably Netherlands, as I don't want to be hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt for a piece of paper. 4) Architecture. I am sorry but this is pretty obvious, the Netherlands is absolutely beautiful, even random towns in the country side. I went to several cities, and the architecture is beautiful, it seems like the dutch actually care about their country. Of course, there are regions of lower income housing, but the majority of the Amsterdam and the Netherlands is really beautiful. Of course this is my preference but I would prefer living in a beautiful city rather than have to drive past copy and paste suburbs in the US before heading on a 12 lane highway to a copy and paste office block. 5) Safety. The Netherlands is quite a bit safer than the US, having around 5 times less murders per million people. 6) Proximity to other nations. Step on a train and in 2-3 hours you are in Belgium, 4 hours and you are in Frankfurt. This is even shorter when flying, which is really cheap in Europe (low cost airlines). All of these amazing countries are so close and so easy to get to. I find that pretty exciting. 7) Outlook on work. Whether this is positive or not, many countries in the EU including Netherlands, tend to have fewer working hours and more vacation/leave time. I could name more but this reply is getting pretty long. Overall, I really like the Netherlands. This does not mean I do not like the united states. I love the united states, but it does not compare very well to other nations. I guess to each their own, but this is my opinion. I would like to hear your thoughts.
