His wife saved him for us, and she takes good care of him. He met her when she was singing with him on Puppetmaster. I'm glad he's got her in his life so he can keep singing and recording.
I love ot too - I probably looked the same but have to bow to the king - and his impact on metal in the many years since he started 🤘 was so Lucky to see him with Mercyful Fate two years ago and as King Diamond a few years before that 🤘
The Spider's Lullabye is highly underrated. Some people dislike it because they had a different drummer in there. Yet they've remastered it. It's never bothered King or he would've had Mickey Dee re-record the drums and put out a new edition.
I love King Diamond. He is my favorite singer. Those highs are really him. I’ve seen him live for the first time back in November of 2019. He sounded like he was in the studio. A phenomenal show. I highly recommend sleepless nights next. At the end of the video, and yes that is his real voice
Anything from KD-albums like "Abigail", "Them" and "Conspiracy" would be great 😉 I saw him live the 1st time in 1990, then in 2016 and summer 2022 with Mercyful Fate...a class act!
Ahhhh! I would love to have been able to say what you've said. If I could somehow hook up device to your head and harvest those memories brother..hells yes. Congratulations on being a badass!
King Diamond has all type of voices, this particular song is a rare example of him using exclusively higher pitch. Usually he is much more dynamic in his vocals.
@@BisscuteReacts Yes, I am pretty sure on the subject. I was a big fan of KD in 80-s and listened to his epic line of 5 albums (86, 87, 88, 89, 90). This track ("Halloween") is on his 1st solo album after departure from Mercyful Fate (band), released in 1986. It has nice memorable heavy guitar riffs (very much in the style of Mercyful Fate) and can be described as a "hit" track due to its relatively simple structure (compared to other very complex KD song writing). I truly believe that this one is not the best introduction into King Diamond legacy. I am pretty sure you should check put any (I mean any) track from his concept albums which followed later including 90`s "The Eye". On other hand I also truly believe that all the other albums of KD that were recorded after "The Eye" do not match his brilliant masterpiece shriek of 4 albums (87-88-89-90).
Normally King Diamond is switching from falsetto to normal voice back and forth in his songs. This is one of the few songs where he almost exclusively sings in his falsetto voice. He also does a lot of different creepy voices in his songs. It's so awesome. I recomment checking out his whole catalogue as well as his other band Merciful Fate.
Yup. I'd totally like to second that intelligent and informative idea he said...plus Them is the shit yo. Always be good to hear more reactions from Miss Bisscute in my book or manifesto. Either one
My first metal show ever was Mercyful Fate!!..At the age of 15...In St.Louis..at the legendary Mississippi nights bar....and to this day when i listen to Melissa and the Oath...i get goosebumps...hail King Diamond!!!🤟☝️...he needs his own hall of fame!!!
King Diamond (real name: Kim Bendix Petersen) is from Denmark... currently 66 yrs old. He was involved in numerous rock bands in Denmark since the 70's... But it was in the early 80's when he formed the heavy metal band Mercyful Fate that King Diamond had truly arrived. One of their early fans was Metallica's drummer Lars Ulrich (who is from Denmark)... another was Kerry King, guitarist of Slayer. Mercyful Fate was controversial for using satanic themes in their lyrics, which made them a target of religious groups... Their 2 major albums were 'Melissa' (1983) and "Don't break the Oath" (1984)... King Diamond was using kabuki makeup like the original Kiss on stage. But the band split up after guitarist Hank Shermann wanted to make 'funk' rock music... King Diamond launched his solo band w/ Mercyful Fate guitarist Michael Denner and (late) bassist Timi Hansen... Guitarist Andy LaRocque joined w/ drummer Mikkey Dee (who would join Motorhead in 1992, and then the Scorpions in 2016). King Diamond released his debut album 'Fatal portrait' in 1986, half the album had songs that depicted a ghost story... His success came w/ the 2nd album 'Abigail' (1987) which had every song depicting a horror story about a cursed unborn child 'Abigail LeFey' being reborn in her bloodline after she and her mother were killed in 1777 when the previous Count LeFey discovered that his wife had been unfaithful. Band members changed for the next album... Denner & Hansen left. King Diamond released his biggest record "Them" (1988) which depicted another horror story about a boy named 'King' who lives in haunted family house called 'Amon' w/ his mother and sister 'Missy', and their 'Grandma' comes home after being in a mental asylum. The next album 'Conspiracy' was the sequel where 'King' is an adult and has inherited 'Amon' and 'Them'. His next album 'The Eye' was not a concept story, but still had horror elements... but label problems would disband King Diamond until 1995. In 1993, Mercyful Fate reunited and released 'In the shadows'... w/ guitarists Hank Shermann & Michael Denner returning... they released several albums in the 90's before disbanding again in 2000 - 'Time' (1994), 'Into the unknown' (1996), 'Dead again' (1998) and '9' (1999)... Guitarist Mike Wead replaced Michael Denner in 1997. Kind Diamond returned in 1995 w/ guitarist Andy LaRocque from the original band... 'The spider's lullabye' was not a concept story album, but he did return to that horror story format w/ 'The Graveyard' (1996)... 'Voodoo' (1998)... 'House of God' (2000)... In 2002, he made a sequel album 'Abigail II: The Revenge' ... which was quite a bit creepier than the original. 'The puppet master' (2003) was the next concept story about dolls being made w/ real human eyes that had the souls of the people trapped in them... 'Give me your soul, please' (2007) was his last record for a while. In 2010, King Diamond underwent heart surgery and was inactive for years... he finally made his comeback on tour in 2015. In 2022, Mercyful Fate announced a reunion tour w/ King Diamond & guitarist Hank Shermann... Mike Wead was kept on guitar and Bjarne T. Holm on drums w/ bassist Joey Vera. They claim they have a new album in the works...Mike Wead is also in the King Diamond band. Meanwhile, King Diamond is also working on his next concept album - 'The Institute' w/ guitarist Andy LaRocque co-writing the songs. 'Evil' or 'The Bell Witch'...by Mercyful Fate r tracks that showcase Kind Diamond's vocal ability (both low and high)... Others are: 'Black devil'... or 'A Mansion in darkness' by King Diamond 🤘🤘🔥🔥🎃
Yes, that is his voice lol. The King is a legend, he is known for his high falsetto! This man has had triple-by-pass heart surgery and now at 66 yrs old still sounds amazing and puts on the best shows. All his albums are concept albums that tell a story and are horror themed. I've been listening to the King for nearly 30 yrs now and the albums 'Abigail' and 'The Graveyard' are my favorite! I last seen him live in 2014, he was about 58, and sounded as good as ever! He has inspired bands like Metallica and Slayer, in fact, Metallica has a whole medley / compilation of his Merciful Fate songs on their Garage Days covers album, which King has also performed live w/ Metallica. Fun fact: This dude fathered a child at 61 yrs old! You should do an entire 1 hr + long reaction to the entire Abigail album and read the lyrics along w/ it. That story is sooo good and you will become the most legendary reactor of all time for doing it! ;)
@@BisscuteReacts Well, you technically can do it, most people just say it's too long because people these days have short attention spans, true KD fans and true fans of yours would stay for it. If anything, I'd love a 20 min vid of you just reading the lyrics to the album and telling your thoughts on the story. One thing is for sure, if you react to more, always do live concert videos, it's a must w/ KD. You picked a great vid to start, all the somewhat more recent vids, like the Filmore concert from 2015 (as opposed to old footage from the 80's and 90's) is the best because of the high quality HD vids. I second the Abigail full-album reaction. Bisscute needs to know that KD's strongest aspects are his concept albums and the whole horror story that you can enjoy throughout the album while listening to all of the amazing tracks in it.
The backing vocalist is his wife Livia Zita and her vocals are usually not out in front of the mix but she sings in a near doubling of King Diamonds voice to add texture and depth to certain parts of songs and chorus'. Even at age 66 King's voice is still as strong as ever and Livia adds another element to the songs as some songs her vocals are heard when she and King sing in different pitches.
they are more front i would think because king is healthier now and at the time this was recorded than he has been in a long time which gave him his voice back so she compliments it more than overpowers
Kim Bendix Petersen was originally a soccer player. He said he would rather his fans look up at him not down at him...He has an incredible range on vocals...He started Mercyful Fate, then he became king Diamond..he is now 67 years old
Ah, I’ve loved this song for years. Found the studio version online a long time ago. Have never heard it done live. Always surprised such high notes go over well in a very masculine genre like metal. Still, a crazy-wide vocal range is always impressive.
Some of Kind Diamond's best tracks - 'Abigail'... 'Welcome home'... 'The family ghost'... 'No presents for Christmas'... 'House of God'... 'The Poltergeist'... "LOA house"... 'Emerencia'... 'At the graves' 🤘🤘🔥🔥 Mercyful Fate songs to check out - 'Into the coven'... 'Time'... 'Come to the sabbath'... 'Banshee'... 'Curse of the Pharaohs' 🤘🤘💀💀
Hell yes i wrote this song as suggestion to Halloween song , on your Rob Zombie reaction , love your reactions, King Diamond is A Danish singer living in Dallas i´m a proud Dane myself King Diamond can shift from low almost whisper to a hit pitch falsetto screaming singing in a blink of an eye and yes mid 60´s 66 years old he is amazing in making creepy music...he covered Judas Priest The Ripper with his older band Mercyful Fate
As always I LOVE your reactions Biss!! I am a long time King Diamond and Mercyful Fate fan ( I think its been around 30 years since I became a fan.) so i'm especially excited for you to get see A true metal legend. I would recommend ruclips.net/video/8tl-N9FJMpY/видео.html Give me your soul by King. One of my faves. Oh and King's wife Livia is doing the background vocals in this Halloween live version. Thank You so much Biss you are the BEST and i look forward to more of your reactions ( do more King Diamond please and thank you.)
In this video, Mike Wead is playing the same guitar Midori from Lovebites uses. Andy LaRoque is one of my guitar influences. He was on: Death "Individual Thought Patterns".
King Diamond formed from the ashes of Mercyful fate when they split in 1984 This is off the first king Diamond album from 1986 Every KD album is Halloween themed
Classic song!!! Whole discography is worth listening to honestly but his Mercyful Fate album Don’t Break the Oath might be the best metal album of all times 🤘😀🤘
King Diamnd or Mercyful Fate has so many great songs that it is impossible to indicate a favorite. Maybe try to listen to King Diamond - Welcome Home [OFFICIAL VIDEO].
You should listen to ''DRACULA'' by Iced Earth and Matt Barlow, wow that song and his voice will blow you away, especially the live version live In Wacken 2008. Stunning, but great song by KD and great video by you
Attention: People technically are in a haunted house when they go to his concerts. His voice has been the same for many years. His wife is doing background vocals; she is the young lady in the concert. Unique voice. May 17, 2023. USA.
Hi, nice to see you do a reaction to King Diamond, he is a awesome vocalist with an incredible vocalrange and he has always had awesome musicians with him. His albums is mostly consept albums. I would suggest you check out Abigail, Them and The Eye. He has alot great songs but it`s some that sticks out for me, A Mansion in Darkness, is definitely my favorite King Diamond song, , Sleepless nights, Twilight symphony, Tea, The eye of the witch and The Candle or you can check out Is that you Melissa ? and Shadows from his other band Mercyful Fate`s album In the shadows. King Diamond has big catalogue and a lot of great songs.
+Bisscute King Diamond has a very unique voice, he was my idol during high school. Hes known as the stephen king of metal, he does the voices in his stories/concept albums of almost all the characters. i believe you'll want to react to Sleepless Nights, Welcome Home, Abigail, Them and The Eye from the same Songs For The Dead show at the Fillmore in philadelphia. And yea i believe his wife Livia can't be heard via the background vocals much of the time for whatever reason. Great reaction btw.
This is a pop song for King Diamond, like Rush's 'Closer to the Heart'. It doesn't do him justice. I don't know if you're up to it, but go ahead and react to his first full concept album 'Abigail' in its entirety. You won't be disappointed.
You should check out Volbeat's Room 24 featuring King Diamond outside the other recommendations you have received. King Diamond is really a unique and interesting singer, and the music is high musicality. I think my favourite King Diamond songs are At the Graves and Arrival and for Merciful Fate it is Satan's Fall, Gypsy and Don't Break the Oath.
He does sometimes sings low but he’s known for and its all about the falsetto with king. He is also in a classic metal band called merciful fate they are touring at the moment.favourite king song would be🤔sleepless nights👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I've always had trouble getting around that high pitched vocal, but the guy has killer range and when he takes it down a couple notches he really rocks then. the band is really good to. by the late 80's early 90's this style was well on the way out. instead of king diamond I was jamming Metallica, Sepultura and Ozzy Osbourne.
I see them like 1988 it was an incredible concert you weren't even born yet to even be able to take what he is I don't think you understand what you're looking at
For me the one and only Halloween song is by Helloween, from the masterpiece Keeper of the Seven Keys part I, a masterpiece 13 minutes song. I suggest you to listen to it.
This song is off Fatal Portrait. The whole album is great as it tells a story. You may also like the The Candle or Dressed in White off this album as well.
Hi Biscute. You should listen to Melissa (the studio version) when he still was in the band Mercyful Fate. There are other interesting songs in this album.
I guess this is one of those rare instances where I got to share this reaction here too lol I'm getting more into their discography lately and this was my first time seeing it from here cause RUclips was recommending it. But yes King Diamonds voice is out of this realm lol started in the 80s and was kind of pioneers in the heavier Power metal speed metal genre with Judas priest etc . Him and Rob Halfords vocals are like top God metal tier IMO even though I haven't heard alot of King diamond/Mercyful Fate. He's got a wide range especially from what I'm seeing from his early stuff . His deep range is interesting ( especially with his speaking voice on the mic lol reminded me of one of those 1940s commentary people on old horror movies. Almost sounds like the narrator guy in Michael Jackson thriller video is what I get from lol ) but his highs are freaking impressive. His shows that I've seen on RUclips practically nearly sound the same as some songs from like 30 years ago lol and he's reaching into his 60s and still kicks ass . He doesn't look that old either lol Edit : yeah after watching your reaction yeah I think I just added this song as one of my favourites so far by him lol . This songs riffs are nasty and just how long KD can go with his high vocals are insane in this live performance
Thank you for watching the video, It means a lot to me .

My all time favourite is sleepless nights - I think that shows mora range in his voice
The King's got a whole lot of voices. From high to low. One of my favorite KD song is The Jonah from their first album Fatal Portrait.
The Jonah is good too. 👍
Denner's solo on the Jonah is unreal
My favorite high is the bridge on Evil from the MF days.

Ah, I’ve loved this song for years. Found the studio version online a long time ago. Have never heard it done live. Always surprised such high notes go over well in a very masculine genre like metal. Still, a crazy-wide vocal range is always impressive.
1 last thing his mic stand is made of real human leg bones. Facts!
Some of Kind Diamond's best tracks - 'Abigail'... 'Welcome home'... 'The family ghost'... 'No presents for Christmas'... 'House of God'... 'The Poltergeist'... "LOA house"... 'Emerencia'... 'At the graves' 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Mercyful Fate songs to check out - 'Into the coven'... 'Time'... 'Come to the sabbath'... 'Banshee'... 'Curse of the Pharaohs' 🤘🤘💀💀
👍❤️
A Mansion in Darkness from the same concert. There you can see more of the King's vocal range.
The albums "Abigail" "Them" "Conspiracy" "The Puppet Master" would be kool listening for King Diamond
Great albums. 👍 but to me they're all great 👍
Awesome 🤘🏽🤘🏽and your Beautiful ❤️
He is a metal legend🤘
Love your Halloween-esque eye shadow!
Thank you ❤
Hell yes i wrote this song as suggestion to Halloween song , on your Rob Zombie reaction , love your reactions, King Diamond is A Danish singer living in Dallas i´m a proud Dane myself King Diamond can shift from low almost whisper to a hit pitch falsetto screaming singing in a blink of an eye and yes mid 60´s 66 years old he is amazing in making creepy music...he covered Judas Priest The Ripper with his older band Mercyful Fate
You definitely need to also watch and react to "Sleepless Nights" from this same show!
The KING!
A really good song him switching his voice would be Arrival
For a live recording this is a excellent recording
Oh my... Bisscute reacting to KD. This gonna be sweet 👻👻👻

@@BisscuteReacts most definitely 😊🤘🏼

King Diamond formed from the ashes of Mercyful fate when they split in 1984
This is off the first king Diamond album from 1986
Every KD album is Halloween themed
Awesome vid. More King Diamond suggestions - Welcome Home and Abigail.
All Hail the King!!!
The absolute greatest heavy metal album Abigail
All Hail The King!!!!
Classic song!!! Whole discography is worth listening to honestly but his Mercyful Fate album Don’t Break the Oath might be the best metal album of all times 🤘😀🤘
Except for the 2003 tour, I have seen Kind Diamond every tour since 1998.
My favourite band ever.
King Diamnd or Mercyful Fate has so many great songs that it is impossible to indicate a favorite. Maybe try to listen to King Diamond - Welcome Home [OFFICIAL VIDEO].
Someday hopefully ❤
You should listen to ''DRACULA'' by Iced Earth and Matt Barlow, wow that song and his voice will blow you away, especially the live version live In Wacken 2008. Stunning, but great song by KD and great video by you
Attention: People technically are in a haunted house when they go to his concerts. His voice has been the same for many years. His wife is doing background vocals; she is the young lady in the concert. Unique voice. May 17, 2023. USA.
King Diamond is also lead singer of Mercyful Fate
Oh? ❤
Hope you enjoyed the reaction, and ill keep those in mind for future reactions ❤
@@BisscuteReacts I did 🙂Have a great evening Bisscute and it`s nice of you answer on my comment ❤
He mostly uses the deep voice for spoken parts, like on The Eye and Spider's Lullabye.
Thank you ❤
Abigail is one of the best songs. And yeah while known most for the over the top high notes, his voice is awesome in the lower registers.
The candle is my favorite king Diamond song
This is a pop song for King Diamond, like Rush's 'Closer to the Heart'. It doesn't do him justice. I don't know if you're up to it, but go ahead and react to his first full concept album 'Abigail' in its entirety. You won't be disappointed.
Hopefully more from him in the future ❤
Yeah this is my least favorite KD song.
I would say, a good album to check out that highlights his range the best is "Them." The album + "Conspiracy" is a whole story.
Oh ok, thanks. Ill check it out someday ❤
King Diamonds song No presents for Christmas.
Ehhhh another single song that has no storyline...but perhaps soon. Christmas is coming!
best song At The Graves.
🙌🤘
Eye of the witch
The candle
And "in the fire" would be my consideration for checking out.
In the fire is a nice choice, been a long time since I've heard that one.
He is just the KING 🤘🏻
He does sometimes sings low but he’s known for and its all about the falsetto with king. He is also in a classic metal band called merciful fate they are touring at the moment.favourite king song would be🤔sleepless nights👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
You need to listen 'Sleeples Nights'. There are 3 differnt pitches contrast in that song, and sounds sooooo good.
KING DIAMOND HAVE ANOTHER BAND, MERCYFUL FATE (PLAY BLACK SATANIC METAL) ENJOY IT
Kim Bendix Petersen
is the phantasmagoric
fuckin KING💯🔝✊❤
🇩🇰king diamond rules 😎🤘🏻
Right? ❤
ok..."Satans Fall"from Mercyful Fate, one of the best metal songs ever written...it will blow your mind
Sleepless nights from this same show he goes deep.
Mercyful Fate, the song Evil. Some of the best King and Fate.
Oh? ill keep that in mind ❤
EAR ABIGAIL BY KING DIAMOND AND, THE OATH AND SATANS FALL FROM MERCYFUL FATE
Good reaction
Thank you ❤
It's operatic metal ...enjoy it!
A great Halloween style song to react to is Megadeth song Good Morning, Black Friday
Good very good
THanks ❤
I see them like 1988 it was an incredible concert you weren't even born yet to even be able to take what he is I don't think you understand what you're looking at
you should react to Miami boys choir yerushalayim 🔥🔥🔥
If You like that voice then react to : Agent Steel " Never Surrender " or Riot City " Steel rider " or Riot "Thundersteel" .
For me the one and only Halloween song is by Helloween, from the masterpiece Keeper of the Seven Keys part I, a masterpiece 13 minutes song. I suggest you to listen to it.
messiah marcolin from candlemass also
This song is off Fatal Portrait. The whole album is great as it tells a story. You may also like the The Candle or Dressed in White off this album as well.
Oh? ill keep those in mind ty ❤
Long live THE King
Love all of your reactions!
You have got to react to "Sleepless Nights" by King Diamond (from this same concert).
Thank you so much, hopefully someday i get to that ❤
Sleepless nights has a variety of voices
the song " At the graves" is great
I see ❤
Hi Biscute. You should listen to Melissa (the studio version) when he still was in the band Mercyful Fate. There are other interesting songs in this album.
Hey biss react to
cradle of filth halloween 2
🤘💀🤘
the atmosphere of Midian is good for Halloween :)
Sleepless Nights is a great song.
I see ❤️
Sleepless Nights!
The whole Abigail album is a concept album and his best album!
I see ty ❤
He doesn't look that old either lol
Edit : yeah after watching your reaction yeah I think I just added this song as one of my favourites so far by him lol . This songs riffs are nasty and just how long KD can go with his high vocals are insane in this live performance
