Good tale. Apparently, no governments impeded the slavers operations, which seems a little odd. Governments exist to protect their citizens' rights against the unscrupulous. The strangest thing to me is the slavers didn't honor Liara's sale to Jace. Going back on a deal would do their reputation damage, as word spread they don't honor legitimate sales. Why would anyone waste money buying a slave, if they weren't allowed to keep their purchase?

Fun story! Remember, this is Not hard science fiction. It's science fantasy. The rules are looser but still require one's suspension of disbelief to enjoy it. 😊
@bigal2876….yup, very true. It doesn’t have to be on or running though, just plugged in to the system or grid. Only unplugging or separating it completely will ensure that it is not affected.
An EMP has such a wide bandwidth that if your device is not in a faraday cage, the length of a conductor path(s) on a printed circuit could be long enough to act as a receiving antenna and thus fry the attached components. Any cords atteched without surge protection (lightning protection) might also cause a switched off device to be damaged. (great antennas) I think it doesn't really matter if on or off, just if the powerfull wideband energy finds a way to get received or not. But in case of the part with the ships and the emp grenade, i would say both sides would die in their ships if the grenade works, because if their controls and power generating equipment aren't shielded against emp, their oxygen supply and athmosphere measurement and control won't be either, and they will suffocate and more likely freeze to death. I'd claim a backup power supply won't be what needs. All of the ECU's would be dead, and he won't have spare ones for everything. (or spare circuit boards) But to be honest i would not expect emp's to do anything to a space ship. Imo a spaceship needs to be emp safe, because radiation and waves of radiation in all wavelengths are more likely to occur in space and there's no magnetic field and athmosphere of earth shielding it from an impact. So spacecraft would be protected from emps i think.
Thats not how an EMP works. An EMP induces a current in any unshielded wire or path on a pcb. That is what does the damage. A lightning strike can do the same, just in a much smaller area. Switched on or off, plugged in or not, its irrelevant. Its just a matter of the strenght of the event vs everything that has a shielding effect.
@@davidj.leavitt7176 Wrong. Plugged in will increase the chance of damage being done. Unplugging CAN NOT guarantee there is no damage, it only lowers the probability. The post from @nirfz explains it well.
I agree not much of a story. Really have to suspend reality. Even then there is no plot.at least at the half way point. Sorry I hope there is better out there
This was poorly written and it showed in the story line and plot. There are jumps in the story. Why did the slavers decide to go after Jake and Liara? Especially after they were paid such a high price for a pure Toric? What did the slavers have against the Toric? Why did Jace get involved and why was he at the auction in the first place? Those are some big plot holes early on. Next I really wish some of these authors would take the time to learn what the military does and how it does it, instead of repeating "skill ans precision" then making it look like every detail is taken care of in advance. It's far closer to poorly planned with bad logistics and relying on a psychic who stares into a crystal ball for intelligence, than it is like what these stories talk about. the staples of military actions are 1. The element of surprise. 2. Making the enemy think you are far away when you are near. 3. The Art of War By Sun Tzu. 4. what ever can go wrong will go wrong and have to be countered i the field on the spur of the moment. 5. The one who is seen first, or heard first, is dead first. 6. Where the ambush is you don't want to show up there, but it is easy to ambush an ambusher from a direction where they aren't looking. So misdirection is important.
I suspect these are written by AI considering how similar a multitude of them are. And the reading is also lacking, with words pronounced correctly and incorrectly within just a few sentences.

You're sharing ad revenue with the author and also are yourself the author? I don't think you thought that through. The dispassionate, monotonous AI voice you've chosen for this narration is a terrible fit for this action adventure. I tried to get into it but gave up ten minutes in.
