@Interesting Dude too bad you didn't read Bisnian Constitution. Bosnia and Herzegovina is home to three main ethnic groups or, officially, constituent peoples, as specified in the constitution. Bosniaks are the largest group of the three, with Serbs second, and Croats third. A native of Bosnia and Herzegovina, regardless of ethnicity, is usually identified in English as a Bosnian. Minorities, defined under the constitutional nomenclature "Others", include Jews, Roma, Poles, Ukrainians, and Turks.
Not weird. Because there are villages that belong to Bosnia and Herzegovina (and vice versa) and you can access them only by crossing border so Croatia and B&H had a deal that people who live there can cross it even without passport if they have license that says that they live in that place. This is not the real border for international crossing and that is why he couldnt pass. This border is not controlled so they closed it for other people.

Most of the officers speak at least English or German. When they don´t then you could ask if there issomebody on the border who can speak English. Exeptions could be small and local border crossings where there is only one officer working. Also Batrovci is on the Serbian side of the crossing, Croatian border crosssing is called Bajakovo.
Hahaha! There was a missunderstanding there all right He was expecting a 5-10 € gift, but you failed to understand the subtle signs he was giving so he got frustrated and let you through :)
IEleMenTIx Allot of people acctually cross this borders because some live in bosnia and work in croatia. Croatians go shopping allot in bosnia ans hercegovina because its cheaper i would say maybe 30 people everyday maybe even more. But more or less same people always cross.
CocoPlayer this kind of border requires registration and only for people living about 5-8 km from that point, in the local villages. It is not usually open to anyone else from the two countries, who have to use the major crossings. It also helps that the local Bosnian population tends to be ethnically Croatian for the most part. This crossing has no visa issuing facility or customs officials, hence shoppers or holidaymakers cannot use it anyway. To drive to Dubrovnik from Bosnia for example one has to go to the blue-roofed border post on the coastal highway and not through the local crossings in the north
Its hard to explain for someone who does not live here, before the war there was yugoslavia, and yugoslavia was one big country made out of 5 or 6 current diffrent states. Alot of properties that are privately owned could be on both sides of diffrent states that were split up into borders by war, so in order that people could travel from property to property or something like work or from work they have the local border where they can pass strictly with ID and no passport needed. This isnt an official border tho and you cant go throught it. This is only for people living in the radius of approx. 10 km and people living away from those areas possibly coudnt pass there even tho they are croatian or bosnian citizens.
@@SantomPh you can cross the BiH-HR border near dubrovnik from multiple places now they have become official borders, and you also could before if u gave the police a few beers.. for example, Cepikuce and Orahov Do borders near Slano are open, as well as the "official" Ivanica border towards Trebinje

Thanks for sharing :) I went on a motorcycle tour of Europe in 2014. Getting through the borders in the Balkans was annoying but also entertaining. The border guard at Montenegro was pretty curious about me and my bike and between Kosovo and Serbia they were very happy, talkative people. I'm glad you also had a positive experience even if you got turned around :)
I've had both experiences with people in the balkans. Either they're very warm, friendly and welcoming.... or they're complete dicks. I guess it depends on where you go. I've only had positive experiences in smaller places like Crna Gora (Montenegro) but in a big city like Belgrade in Serbia, you might not have the same experience.

Mzaphod Bibl well in his defense for many years after the war that's how it worked. Pay this pay that 10km here 20km there... Of course I'm happy to see that it starts to change. But let's be honest there is too much corruption going on. Well at least there was.
Bosnians are just like this..Most of them dont inderstand english and eaven if you speak their language its hard to comunicate with some of them..Still..Bosnians are just Hillarious pepole
Amar Osmanović maybe hard for u, many people speak English im Bosnia, in gas stations, stores, cafes or restaurants.. even at the borders but apparently not this one since its for "lokal pipl onli" 😂
Border police helped him otherwise he will go in wrong direction. So what the fuck he want!? I know many police officers in EU which don't know English at all. And this guy's was nice with him and with smile on face you need red carpet and flowers?
We crossed the border yesterday, Bosnia & Herzegovina from Hrvatska and vice versa... going to Bosnia was easy but coming back had more checks. Our passports were checked thrice and the car documents were also checked. We were stopped by another borber police who were stationed along the road doing checks with the passers by. There was no problem.
harecombe The only reason why crossing the border to Croatia has more checks is because Croatia is EU member therefor they are obliged to have strict border control.
An explanation. Before there used to be a country Yugoslavia but things went sour in the 90s and croat people from the same neighborhood found themselves cut from one another with the new countries. So you have special border controls so that they can keep going from one country to another without losing time. The policeman was really nice because usually border controls in Croatia and Bosna Hercegovina are not that friendly.
I could be mistaken, but it looks like the local crossing that takes you near Svilaj in Bosnia. One time when I went though it was raining heavily and all they did was open the window and I saw an arm wave me through.
I'm sure you know this but in some parts of the bosnian/croatian and bosnian/serbian border, locals cross the borders daily. When I visited last summer it was lots of Serbians that cross into Bosnia to fill up fuel containers since it was cheaper. No clue why they have em separated for locals but whatever
The motor cyclist was also nom how can he not understand "local people" the Bosnian gentle man were not too bad he did his job and english is not his language and he clear told you this is for local people maybe you were looking for a chat than information that is different thing
So just so you know, I live in croatia and this is completely regular. These borders are only for local people because they don't have all the equipments and everything to check on foreigners. Basically Bosnia is not Europe and Croatia is, so you need to go to a bigger border, so they can scan your ID and everything. I know it doesn't make a lot of sense but that's how it works, it's balkans ^^ Fact is even somebody from Zagreb can't cross this border, it's for local people, the guy who lives in a small town close to this border in Croatia and work in Bosnia or vise versa.
It is not unusual. I think several parts of the world have. India has it with Myanmar as well. Normal Indians would need a visa but the border residents do not need much if they are traveling to the surrounding regions. Often there is not even a documentation and they seem to check if you can talk the local language and look like a resident.
Oh same happens in Bangladesh India border area. Once an Indian traveller went back to India through local route from Bangladesh and the Indian border guy was very annoyed with him. Because that route was for "Local people" only. You have to speak that certain language..hold a special pass etc. Even if you are Indian you cannot get into India through local route. So, in a nutshell, route for "Local people" means local people..in any border area😂. 😆It's no joke!
N Johnson there is nothing to see there, just creepy forest and dark mountain paths. Also the town he was trying to get to is far nicer to look at coming from the highway

No answers :( that's will be nice to see in your videos
He looks like the guy from the guardians of the galaxy
The Croatian border guard seems much cooler than the Bosnian one.
Ok, i'm glad.
younger, didnt grow up in communism, knows english and probably better pay
0:56 "ma goni ga u pizdu materinu". That is a REAL Bosnian fella.
bosnians are good people!
D. D. That was a Croatian.
The one inside was Bosnian. . . .

I'm sorry for your experience bro, but we are complicated af here in the Balkan region
MAtheG25
Why are you sorry?
In my opinion the biker is the one who should be ashamed of..
'You were not looking, I could just pass...?
What if I cross here and say I crossed it elsewhere??'
O man. Do I have solution for these type of guys!!
Amar Osmanović maybe hard for u, many people speak English im Bosnia, in gas stations, stores, cafes or restaurants.. even at the borders but apparently not this one since its for "lokal pipl onli" 😂
i hope one day it will become SRJ or FRJ
savezna ili Federativna Republika Jugosllavia :)
Dodji ti 'vamo da pricas engleski 😂😂😂
Kako je zgodan Hrvat 😍
wtff:)
Frajer je fenomenalan! 😍
I like the fact that you've prepared 20 KM along with your documents ... just in case :D
I love how u prepared 20KM just in case u have to bribe them :D
The first guy came back at the end to show his muscles by asking for documents to be sure that the bike belonged to him lol
Sumljiv si brale moj 😂😂😂😂😂
I've never seen a cop that I can describe as adorable. The croat dude is straigh up adorable.
Tako to izgleda kada si zaposlen preko štele, preko stranke ili slično, radiš na granici a znaš dvije riječi Engleskog, "local people". HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
0:57 looking good 😵 😵
I could be mistaken, but it looks like the local crossing that takes you near Svilaj in Bosnia. One time when I went though it was raining heavily and all they did was open the window and I saw an arm wave me through.

🇪🇦 "so I have to take direction tooo eeeeehh...."
🇭🇷 "YES YES"
🇪🇦 ".... Vvrrđa vVrRĐaK *error 404*"
🇭🇷 "V R G O R A C"
I have been to this crossing in 1998/99. I was posted on the Kamensko border crossing. We sometimes ran to this crossing or cycled.
Albanian,Crotian,Bosnian and Kosovo are the best and good people in the world!!
From Germany

Matt - Bosniaks are Albanian and Croats true..

Whats wrong, its not his native language, and imo he managed to explain everything pretty well, was polite and helpful
@@Disbeliefall this is not europe? Oh im sorry, i didnt know this was australia
how is it not europe? than what is it? america? africa?
Greetings from Poland ;)
When he said local people at first the bike driver probably thought that they would tear him apart 🤣
I'm surprised that they didn't stop you filming!
@Dinaric but you can't film on border crossings
Love croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina was also very nice
0:39
"Drugo desno, uno due" 🤣🤣kakav isus hahaha
I didn't come across border crossings when I was there in 1986.
Bcs you were in yugoslavia back then
The motor cyclist was also nom how can he not understand "local people" the Bosnian gentle man were not too bad he did his job and english is not his language and he clear told you this is for local people maybe you were looking for a chat than information that is different thing
Long ago there were such borders (residents from either sides only) between Austria-Hungary, Austria-Czech, Austria-Slovakia, etc...
I dont know why cant stop watching this video....a sad neznam zasto sam imao neki nagon da napisem komentar na engleskom.
hahaha
That is one smokin’ hot bit of croat. I’d have run just so he could catch me.
Is this the border crossing near Dubrovnik?
savedbyjesusblood no, further north and west. The Dubrovnik crossing is a proper international crossing like at the end of the video
95 kilometers west of Dubrovnik Border Crossing Crveni Grm-Mali Prolog.
Did you get a nice stamp at 03:33?
Mark Griffiths EU passports do not get stamped at EU crossings (or through Bosnia either).
SantomPh As you see he got stamped. So dont think you are smart.
Why is this in my recomended?😂
"maybe my boss is somewhere there he stop you and i.... NAJEBEM" hahaha
Od ovog se može sastaviti vic
What if you wanted to see the scenic route?
N Johnson there is nothing to see there, just creepy forest and dark mountain paths. Also the town he was trying to get to is far nicer to look at coming from the highway
"lokal pipl"
usually those single house border crossings are for locals who work on both sides of the country so yeah they are correct.
Finally somebody knows english and is good looking haha
Zerina Udvincic Hey I speak English and I'm decent looking , let's have babies 👶
Albin S lets do it!
@Marco Dalmatini i bet they allready broke up.😅🤣
Where was the first "local only" crossing?
Yes
