Great harvest! Next time save the leaves. They are delicious. Many countries use them as greens that you can stew with strong meats or alliums. My neighbor calls them gongura.
I do not wash them, but I know that I don’t spray anything harmful in my garden. If you are worried about dust that may have accumulated on there, you can certainly rinse them.
I'm interested in how you harvest when buds are closed. Another woman says she waits til the flower is dried and loose, bud is open. Then she picks them. What is the difference? I just started growing the Thai Roselle here in FL.
@@DesertHavaGarden Doest look like you got a reply so ill tell you how I do it. I put a handfull of dried hibiscus in a one gallon container and fill with cold filtered water. Let sit in the refrigerator for a day and you will have awesome sugar free tea. It has been my experience that cold brewing creates a better flavor than hot brew.
I have a question I really hope u will know the answer to. I have a lovely hibiscus tree potted on my balcony for half a year now I've been loving but I wish to know there's so many sprouts popping up at the base of the tree like 5 new sprouts and im thinking they have 2b new hibiscus just sprouts and I'd love to harvest them and make new plants from but im not sure what to do? Can't find anything on how to go about it only about how to take branch trimmings cultivation but I really wana if I can take these from base and make new 1s. Is this possible? And im honestly a 1st timer w hibiscus so im not sure if they're just weeds tht grow in but they looked like part of the plant roots. Plz help me! I wish I could post pictures too im sure u would be able 2 tell rite away. Tysm 😊 🙏 bless hope u can help me! I wana make some for my family w them!

Was that all from one plant? That's a huge harvest! Awesome
Yes! It is giant and grows a stem like a trunk!
Hi! I’m wondering if you wash them before dehydrating them? Or wash them before peeling them? Thanks for clarifying. Not sure if it’s necessary....?

Nice one great job thanks for sharing
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Im in Texas about to put some of these out in spring im worried about the heat. Did you grow yours in full all day Arizona sun?
All of mine grow a lot like that white one. How interesting
Would you suggest using a dehydrator on the lowest setting to speed things up?
You can definitely do that especially if you are in a more humid climate.

Just started making our hibiscus tea lol
Please share your recipe if you get a chance!

wow thats a lot of seeds, you know you can sell those hibiscus seeds and re-root some of those branches and sell them online, just an idea.
Are the leaves eatable please, IF so, what can they be used for in a DIY (Do It Yourself)? Great video, thank you...
Yes the leaves are edible. I just cooked some last night for the first time and it was delicious!
My first harvest thanks for the info
Right now they flowering . I guess the flower pedals fall off and bud is the only part left ?
Yes, the part after the flower falls off is called a calyx and that is the only part you use.
Thank you I was confused. I got many instructions from my Aunt and Gramma but they are in Mexico where I got the seeds but I forgot what they said 😟
@@marioparra78 sorry crazy ?. Is there a way I could pay some seed from you
Yes, I would take some seeds also
when did you plant that roselle?
You harvest your fruits pre bloom? Or post?
After the bloom falls off you harvest the calyx that’s is left. It is the pod around the seed that you use.
When u cut the tree back like that. Will it grow back next year or do u need to start over?
It grows as an annual here so I have to replant it every year. It does not come back like my artichokes and asparagus.
@@DesertHavaGarden ok great and thank you. I think am ready for next year then
Hi sister is there any different between hibiscus flower and this one in video??
Different varieties may have slight differences, but this Thai Red is a variety of hibiscus.
@@DesertHavaGarden thank you🥰
Those pinkish red colour on that particular calyx look like remains of nailpolish😂
thank you Hare Krishna ---yes peeling them is better --gets your kids peeling. them.
Is it your hibiscus... but our is different....

Rosella is not the same as hibiscus...
Perhaps, but this plant, Thai Red Roselle, is in fact hibiscus. 😉
This video doesn't say anything about Rosella you literally just had an argument with yourself. This is roselle and it is in fact hibiscus.
