I have been exploring a wide spectrum of Polish music and art lately. I really love it. The Polish attitude and general outlook on life. I started out mostly just noticing how much i really was into old Polish paintings. Then after watching some documentaries about the devastation of Poland in WW2. I also was a HUGE fan of Polish punk band Post Regiment and apocalyptic crusty/death metal Filth of Mankind. Now i am exploring the depths of Polish BM and old school death metal. I came across this just now completly by accident and i gotta say i am impressed, this album is full of surprises and the music takes some unconventional turns. I was looking for some wild "thinking mans metal". Almost like it is subverting expectations and withholding the unhinged madness i keep thinking its going to let loose and instead distracts me with..... dear me.... clean vocals and dark melodic strings. It is very good.
For me music (or album) should be like a journey, and that is why I like Stara Rzeka! And it must also be at least a little bit of madness and psychedelia :) Cheers from Wroclaw Poland
Ha! Yes! So recently I was looking up illustrations of the homeless madman/philosopher and troublemaker Diogenes because I want to silk screen them onto tshirt. When I saw this I mistook it for the famous wood print of Alexander the Great trying to talk to an uninterested Diogenes while he chills in his home made out of a huge wine casket. So happy that I clicked on this.
Tordah90 First of all, I'm always willing to share recommendations. Haha I'm, to be honest, really glad if anyone cares or is in general interested in my thoughts on music. Records with the same quality... There are some but they are completely different than this album. If you like Jazz, I would recommend Tigran Hamasyan's Mockroot, Avishai Cohen's From Darkness, and the fantastic Exploding Star Orchestra album Galactic Parables Vol. 1. Beside that I really enjoy the new Godspeed You! Black Emperor record Assunder, Sweet and Other Distress, Max Richter's 8 hour piece Sleep, Leprous' The Congregation, and Chelsea Wolfe's The Abyss. Oh, and if you like metal than, Bosse-De-Nage's All Fours, Bell Witch's Four Phantoms, and Izah's Sistere. There many more good records but these are my favorite, even though they are absolutely nothing like this record.
+all of them milking with green fleshy flowers Wow thank you! Thank you for sharing these I really appreciate it. I'm familiar with some but others I didn't know & are an amazing listening experience ( Exploding Star Orchestra / Tigran Hamasyan ) Thanks a lot man. I don't know if you're familiar with The Icarus Line, they dropped an album this year called All Things Under Heaven, in my opinion it slays through & through, Vertigo by The Necks is also very decent as well as Chapter II by Shaidar Logoth. Check them out if you can I think they're solid records.
there is fucking no better music, im in love so hard with this album. i read this was stara rzekas last album though, i hope he goes on producing something else thats evenly fascinating.
google translated the song titles --- -Do not approach the fire -In August night -Small spruces -Black water -BHMTH (or a story with Uncle Albert -Melody -Old river -Map -Fiery sermons of B.B. -In the shed, where there were eyes -Mytilene
+Paweł Chełchowski last few words are definitely: "alone to find the one you love, like i do" also i can hear things like: feel my summer is gone, before it began
I heard the metal at first then the ambient. I loved it. Then I heard the acoustic and was bored. After that I heard the other instruments add more textures and liked it again

For me music (or album) should be like a journey, and that is why I like Stara Rzeka! And it must also be at least a little bit of madness and psychedelia :)

The whole album is incredible, but that last song is just gut wrenchingly beautiful.

This might be one of the best records ive heard this year so far. Mesmerizing!
+Tordah90 Agreed! This is an absolutely mesmerizing hell of a ride! Utterly beautiful, at the same time hauntingly serene.
+all of them milking with green fleshy flowers Have you heard of any other records with the same quality released this year? Care to recommend any?

Jeszcze trawie...

Świetne
Uno de los mejores 20 álbumes de todos los tiempos, fácil.

Jak Swans z najlepszych czasów.
Propsy
"Some of the new songs are based on motives from Alberta Ayler's, Pharaoh Sanders' and Moondog's compositions."
THIS must be my kind of thing!
Hello im from RYM its good stuff here :) Hello Polsko.
It's kurwa beautyful!
A journey in the deep
ten album > inne rzeczy na świecie
+Artur Kujawa ten komentarz > inne komentarze
jedna rzecz na świecie, inne albumy
Piękne.
what language is this ? polish is my guess?
+Wolfgang Icarus U'r right ;)
+Wolfgang Icarus Yup. The band name translates as 'The Old River' and album's title is 'The Eyes of the Earth Have Closed Themselves'.
+Kabelczerwony "The Eyes of the Earth have Closed" po prostu
albo The Earth eyes have closed ;)
no nie
It sounds like Tarkovskij's Stalker
agree
To fajne rozgniatanie krabów błotnych ze Skyrima

Agnieszka Zwara

Chciałbym zakupić digipacka ale nie mogę. Dlaczego?
+grisza owniuk przecież jest, choćby z serpent.pl albo z seeyousoon.pl
Grafika na tatoo se chyba zrobie takie cuś...
:3 urzekło
does Małe świerki (the third track) sound english to anyone else?
+DropArum It sounds English to me, but have no idea what he is singing :/
+DropArum I can certainly hear some Polish words, but it is very distorted. However, I wouldn't say it's English.
+DropArum It is in English, so of course it sounds English... Only the title of this song is Polish.
+Paweł Chełchowski last few words are definitely: "alone to find the one you love, like i do"
also i can hear things like: feel my summer is gone, before it began
+DropArum even more awkwardly on stara rzekas first album there is a track with a german title and english lyrics
interesting but i heard strong Virus influences at the begining, thought that entire album will be like that...
yesss was my thought as well
I heard the metal at first then the ambient. I loved it. Then I heard the acoustic and was bored. After that I heard the other instruments add more textures and liked it again
