  • I'm going to tell you why I'll never use the Nanopresso ever again and compare it to the newer WACACO Picopresso!
    I'm going to be comparing it to another Wacaco portable espresso brewer, the Nanopresso which I've used many times in the past but will never use again.
    On the surface, the Picopresso just looks like a model update and aside from a slightly bigger basket, a nice casing, and a WDT tool, it's just the same. Watch the video to see why I believe it's so much more than just a newer model, it really is a revolutionary upgrade, and it's my new favourite travel brewer.
    If you, like me, hate traveling without your espresso machine and trying to randomly find a good coffee in a new city, then this is the answer to your dreams! I will never have to waste good money on bad coffee again because I have finally found a good enough espresso machine that can fit in my pocket and journey with me wherever I go.
    Enjoy your brew!

    I am super passionate about coffee and educating people on all aspects of this amazing drink. I love bringing the stories back from the other side of the world about how they grow and process the coffee differently on each farm, in each region, and in each country. I also love helping baristas around the world make better coffee for themselves, whether they're at home, professional, competitors and or even just venturing out into the wide world of coffee.

    Picopresso is a marvel of engineering. If you use the right blend (for me dark roast) and grind, the espresso is phenomenal. Great video mate.

    After seeing vids with the pressure gauge added you're better off using short half pumps to keep pressure at 9 bars constantly. Also when coffee first starts coming through after the first 10 or so pumps they recommend you paise for around ten seconds. You might just hit that sweetspot😉😁

      @@Rydecoffeecoach Thank you for yours! Love your videos. The one with the creator of the Delta press is what tipped the scales for me to purchase one over the Aeropress. Great that you took the time and creat a video of how exactly it was meant to be used. So many get it wrong. Between you and Josh from AB this 53 year old Aussie is learning so much about the world of real coffee brewing. Something that I am really starting to appreciate

    I’ve had the nanopresso for years
    It’s got to a point where the rubbers are allowing coffee to come out the side not just the bottom.. then the plastic that I push for pressure broke
    I’m thinking watching ur video that it’s time to upgrade 😀

    Having played about with the Nanopresso after getting some really bad initial results I find I'm actually getting some nice espresso from it now. Using the Wacaco grinder set to 20 clicks, 14g of coffee (in the larger basket) and with the pressurised piece removed from the unit I get a really nice consistent stream of espresso with a good taste rather than it building up too much pressure and coming out in drips and being under extracted like yours. It's definitely more capable than it seemed in your video but it looks like you could get way better results with the Pico with significantly less experimenting. I'm hoping to upgrade soon.

      Yeh, removing the pressurized piece helps but I just found the whole experience with the Pico night and day compared with the nano. Definitely worth the upgrade! 🙌

    cool review , but I think the pressure that they say 18 bar is not at extraction time ,its a commerical thing, because technically 18 bar is nearly impossible for fingers also for hand its impossible (every one can test it with a simple small 10ml syrnge, just try to push the syrnge to 0,5ml(not 5 ml ) ,with wacaco , as you try you can feel easily "the water drops exact the same volume as in the pump piston when user press to pump, normally for 18 bar pressure the user have to add 18 times the volume air for 1 volume at 18 bar, and it means that you must pump average 90 times for smallshot with very hard effort.I think its a commerical thing, device can resist maximum 18 bar air in the water tank or in the piston. but only for maximum resistance , not for extract the coffee in 18 bar or 9 bar, this device look cool but really confuses me for making espresso in true pressure.ı try with measuring the outer pressure from basket , after around 7-8 bars you can not add any air to the system with fingers you must use full hand and chest for pressing pump. any one tried to measure the pressure ?

    I use Nanopresso with capsule adapter when I'm "in the bush" which is much more practical. Result - not bad.

  • @Archieconan
    @Archieconan Год назад +3

    You’re not pumping the nanopresso correctly. If you were to use the palm of your hand instead of your fingers, you would get a more consistent pump with consistent pressure. Also, you have to aim to have a steady flow. Otherwise, the extraction isn’t good at all. It’s definitely fidgety.

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  Год назад

      Yeh I tried that and its very uncomfortable to do it that way (for me at least). I found i get a much more steady flow on the Pico but if they release a gauge for the nano I'll go back to it and see it that gives a more even flow. Thanks for the tips!

    @9:43 did it start leaking from the seal?

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  Год назад

      No I don't think so, it's just hard to film it and hold it straight so it looks worse than when I normally hold it over the cup. But I don't think it came through the seal. It's a pretty solid build.

    • @Rydecoffeecoach

      @@mariogauci1451 It really isn't. It's just how I'm holding it, I'm not level so it looks like it's coming out the side. If it was leaking there would be water coming through the side, not coffee.

      If you're grinding it yourself, just keep going finer. And you've definitely got the dispersion screen on the right way? If you're buying preground coffee, that's your issue right there. It will be old and never ground fine enough.
